You Xi sweated anxiously. He thought for a while before a memory struck him. “Oh. Last time, I called a TV producer who had been planning for a show and asked him to look for Yan Qingsi. I think my mother overheard the conversation outside the room.”

“Just that?”

“Just…just that. It’s true, Uncle.”

Mrs. You had suddenly asked about Yan Qingsi, but why? There was no rhyme or reason to it.

Grandma Xia had fallen so ill that she was hospitalized. She should devote all her attention to the Xias. She would never suddenly care about Yan Qingsi. There was definitely a motive behind this.

For these two days, he could not get a hold of Yan Qingsi, so he contacted Yue Tingfeng straightaway. He got the news that Yan Qingsi had drowned a few days ago from Yue Tingfeng, and had been taken away after she was saved. He had asked Yue Tingfeng about the person who had taken her away. That boy did not answer him directly; instead, he told him that that person had a special position and that he was probably Yan Qingsi’s relative. Now, he and his mother were just waiting for the results.

At least the person who had taken her away could be trusted since Yue Tingfeng had put it that way.

Furthermore, the person who had taken Yan Qingsi away was probably holding a very powerful position. After all, even a b*stardly brat like Yue Tingfeng waited even though he was so anxious that he could die. The Su family was helpless as well.

A flash of intuition washed over You Yi. He suddenly thought of something. Could it be that the person who had taken Yan Qingsi away was…

“Your phone,” You Yi said out of the blue.

You Xi had been studying his second uncle, whose expression was a confusing mix of emotions. He could not discern what he wanted to do. Then he abruptly said something and scared his muscles stiff and sent a shiver down his spine.

You Xi haphazardly got his phone out. Although he did not know what You Yi wanted to do with it, he thrust it forward with both hands anyway. “Uncle, here…”

You Yi did not take it. “Call your mother.”

Confusion splayed across You Xi’s face. “Wh–why? Can’t you just call my mother yourself?”

You Yi’s expression darkened. “Say that again?”

You Xi took a step backward in an acquiescent manner. He did not ask any further. “Okay, okay…I’ll call, I’ll call… Uncle, what do you want to ask?”

“While your mother isn’t suspicious, ask…why she suddenly asked about you and Yan Qingsi.”

“Uncle, you–you know this too. In front of my mother, I’m…”

“Hmm?”

You Xi swallowed whatever he wanted to say. “Ahem… I’ll try…I’ll try!”

You Xi took in a few deep breaths. He prepared himself for a few minutes to prevent his mother from hearing a tremble in his voice. Then he called Mrs. You’s number.

The call went through quickly. “Yes, You Xi?”

“Mom…I already agreed to go to Rong City. Why don’t you buy that car for me first?” You Xi said immediately, “that’s a limited-edition model. If I don’t get it, it’ll be snatched away by someone else.”

He was not stupid either. Since he could not let his mother become suspicious, then he should not ask anything about Yan Qingsi at the beginning.

Mrs. You did not agree with this. “No. You’re injured now. You should practice a little more self-restraint for now.”

“Mom, I’ve almost fully recovered,” You Xi argued with his mother like a child. “Besides, my current injuries wasn’t from driving…”

“If they were not from driving then where did they come from, tell me.”

“Jeez, why do you keep asking me that question. I already told you that it’s nothing.”

Mrs. You got down from the car. The servant of the Xias quickly bowed toward her at the sight of her and took her purse from her hands.

Mrs. You acted as though she just returned to her own house. “I didn’t sleep last night,” she informed. “I’m tired. I’m going up to sleep first. Don’t disturb me.”
