A Warm Marriage After Rebirth

Chapter 425: Chapter 425: Unless We Live Together (5)

”Seraphina Sterling may voluntarily participate in any club activity. She will be responsible for taking minutes at every event, and she will be exempt from paying activity fees!” Hugo Xavier announced to the group.

The conference room fell silent in an instant. Everyone looked at each other, their faces a mixture of three expressions: confusion, bewilderment, and shock! Everyone knew the president himself had interviewed this Seraphina Sterling. A freshman from a humble background with no money needing a personal interview with the president—that alone had been shocking enough. But the president had offered no explanation, and not even the club’s executives could get an answer out of him!

’Now, Shelby Fenton is clearly targeting Seraphina Sterling, and at this exact moment, the president makes this announcement, saving Seraphina from an awkward situation. Is this just a simple work assignment, or was it a spur-of-the-moment decision to help her out? A fourth-year guy who’s been single for ages and a brand-new freshman girl... why does everyone feel a romantic vibe spreading between them?’

”President, what is this? Why is Seraphina Sterling the minute-taker? Can’t one of the other upperclassmen do it? Every single one of us has to pay activity fees, so why doesn’t she? Is it because you have some kind of personal relationship with her? Is that why you’re giving her special treatment?”

Shelby Fenton, not caring about the consequences, directly questioned Hugo Xavier. She had been waiting for this day for a long time. Ever since the club’s recruitment day, she had been waiting for this moment, for the chance to humiliate Seraphina Sterling in front of everyone! Now that the opportunity had finally arrived, how could she be satisfied when it was all being glossed over with just a few words from the president?

She remembered with perfect clarity how Seraphina Sterling had refuted her in public, humiliating her. She had been bottling up all her resentment, just waiting for today to finally feel vindicated, to launch her counterattack. But now this had to happen! If this was how it ended, wouldn’t all the mockery she’d endured for days have been for nothing?

Hugo Xavier glanced at Shelby Fenton, his brow furrowing, but he didn’t say anything to explain.

”Hugo, how was the minute-taker decided so quickly? How come I didn’t know? I was just thinking it was strange. We’ve been looking for new members for so long, yet you haven’t discussed the choice for minute-taker with anyone. I never thought you’d already decided it in secret!” Shane Rainier wasn’t so much questioning him as he was just mentioning it conversationally.

”Still, you haven’t told us why you personally interviewed Sterling. We were just about to talk about it last time, but you were called away by other matters. Coincidentally, Shelby Fenton is also a bit confused about it, and the other members are quite curious too. Why don’t you take this chance to explain it properly? It’ll keep everyone from letting their imaginations run wild,” Preston Patterson said with a smile. The atmosphere instantly relaxed, and the tension from a moment ago vanished.

”Sterling was referred by Nadia Chapman. I shouldn’t need to explain who Nadia Chapman is—the old members should all know. For the new members who don’t, I’ll bring you up to speed. She’s a fourth-year from the School of Economics and Management with a double major in finance and management. She’s currently the CEO of Keystone Technologies and recently started a new company, Apex Wealth Management! Sterling was recommended by Nadia Chapman, which is why I interviewed her personally! As for the minute-taker position, it’s the most suitable job for her. Does anyone else have any objections?”

Hugo Xavier had played his trump card: Nadia Chapman. That woman’s name was the most persuasive argument of all.

The moment the older members heard she was recommended by Nadia Chapman, their objections vanished. Who was Nadia Chapman, you ask? For the first three years of university, her name might have gone unnoticed. That girl might have flown under the radar. But in her fourth year, there was hardly a soul on campus who didn’t know her name! She had become a celebrity throughout Aethelgard University!
