Celestial Night Emperor

Chapter 87: Chapter 87: Choose Any Position

Qin Tianxuan stopped in his tracks.

’Han Biwei actually submitted her resume to Dongshen Financial Group?’

’That’s right. She has been wanting to find a job lately.’

’But he had long planned to give the entire Dongshen Financial Group to Han Biwei.’

’So what was the point of her looking for a job...’

’He just needed to carry out this plan slowly to avoid scaring Weiwei.’

He thought for a moment, then replied, ”Don’t make a scene. Only the top executives need to know Weiwei’s identity. As for the latest job openings, let Weiwei choose for herself. You are to accommodate whatever position she picks!”

The executives at Dongshen Financial Group were all dumbfounded.

But an order was an order. They held an emergency meeting and drew up a list of all the positions available in the current recruitment drive.

”We can only hope the madam picks a good position. What if she chooses something like a sales representative? What are we supposed to do? We can’t actually let her be a rank-and-file employee, can we?”

”There’s nothing we can do. We’ll just have to play it by ear! The Chairman said her identity must be kept confidential!”

Meanwhile, Qin Tianxuan got into the RV and looked at Weiwei, who was staring into space. ”What’s wrong? Were you getting impatient?”

Han Biwei shook her head, slowly regaining her composure. ”Brother Qin, I won’t ask about your affairs anymore. I know you have your reasons, things you can’t talk about. I understand.”

’Huh?’

’What’s gotten into her?’

Qin Tianxuan sat down across from her, his expression serious. ”Weiwei, it’s true I’m keeping some secrets from you. It’s not the right time yet, but once things in the north are stable, I promise I’ll explain everything.”

Han Biwei pursed her lips into a smile. ”Why talk about all that? Back when Sister Shuanghua saved my life and entrusted Niannian to me, she also told me... she told me to take care of you!”

A pang of pain shot through Qin Tianxuan’s heart, and he silently bowed his head.

Han Biwei quietly stood and moved to sit beside him. ”You still can’t forget Sister Shuanghua, can you?”

Qin Tianxuan held up a hand. ”Let’s not talk about it. I’m just doing this for Niannian and for you...”

He couldn’t forget the past, but Niannian gave him a new reason to care, a new responsibility.

”Brother Qin, let’s get out and walk for a bit. We can take a stroll and then head home, okay?”

Home. It was always a warm place.

At some point, Han Biwei instinctively reached out and took his hand.

And this time, Qin Tianxuan didn’t resist. They walked hand in hand down the quiet road.

No words were needed. Their hearts were in sync.

Under the streetlights, their shadows drew ever closer, gradually merging into one.

When they returned to Frost Plum Courtyard, they saw a small figure standing by the window in the lamplight, waiting.

It was Niannian!

She had been waiting for her daddy and mommy to come home.

Qin Tianxuan and Han Biwei exchanged a smile, then pushed open the door and stepped into their cozy little home.

Early the next morning, Qin Tianxuan took Niannian to school.

Han Biwei, to her delight, received a call for an interview from Dongshen Financial Group.

She quickly got ready, changed into a pantsuit, grabbed her resume, and headed straight for the Dongshen Financial Group headquarters.

Dongshen Financial Group’s new headquarters was located in the heart of Su City’s largest commercial district.

The entire Dongshen Mansion glittered in the morning sun.

Han Biwei stood at the base of the building, watching the bustling professionals, her heart filled with anticipation.

A better life was beckoning.

The compensation at Dongshen Financial Group was the best in the city. An ordinary position paid more than an executive at a small company, and the benefits were top-notch as well.

’Right now, Qin Tianxuan is effectively unemployed, and Niannian just settled into school. Our expenses are only going to increase from here on out.’

For the sake of her family, Han Biwei was determined to start working hard again.

’I have to forget my past identity as the young lady of the Han Family. Forget the years of hardship raising a child on the go.’

’It’s a fresh start.’

She walked into the building excitedly and followed the signs to the Dongshen interview site.

The area was already packed with people, and the few available seats were all occupied.

Next to the dense crowd, however, was a special VIP lane.

”See that? That lane is for special interview candidates!”

”What do you mean, ’special interview candidates’?”

”Are you stupid? First, it’s for the highly educated, high-caliber talent. They get to use the VIP lane and interview ahead of everyone.”

”And then there are... heh... the ones with internal connections. You know what I mean.”

Dongshen Financial Group was enormous, like its own kingdom.

It was inevitable that upper and middle managers would find spots for their own people—relatives’ kids, classmates’ children, and so on.

The ”special” candidates would proudly stride into the VIP lane, unable to hide their smug expressions as they looked at the ordinary applicants waiting in line.

A single lane separated two different worlds.

The sound of footsteps echoed again as an elevator descended. A few people from the HR department and middle management emerged, looking on high alert as if facing a major threat, with security guards in tow.

”Young Master Li will be here any moment! This lane is temporarily closed to all others!”

Just then, Li Xiaohai appeared with Han Qianqian in tow. A few junior managers from Dongshen rushed to greet them, all smiles and laughter.

Young Master Li’s status was nothing to scoff at these days. A rising tide lifts all boats, after all.

After the massive shake-up at Changshan Group, nearly all the direct family members in the line of succession had been wiped out.

As Li Changshan’s distant nephew and the sole surviving senior executive, Li Xiaohai’s prestige was soaring.

There were even rumors that the childless Li Changshan was planning to groom Li Xiaohai as his successor.

Han Biwei saw them from a distance and felt a sense of unease. ’Is Qianqian also here for a job? Did she just abandon the Han Family business? What’s going on?’

At the entrance to the VIP lane, a young woman from the HR department appeared, holding a slip of paper.

”Supervisor Yang, this memo came down from the top. It says we’re to use the VIP lane to welcome a new candidate for an interview, a Ms. Han Biwei!”

Hmm?

Han Qianqian and Li Xiaohai were both stunned.

Han Qianqian snatched the paper, glanced at it, and tore it to shreds. ”Why should she get special privileges? I’m the one you’re supposed to be welcoming, aren’t I?”

Supervisor Yang, the one in charge of the interviews, didn’t think much of it. ’It was probably just a favor called in by some junior manager,’ he thought. ’That sort of thing happens all the time.’

He smiled nonchalantly. ”But of course! Young Master Li’s fiancée is much more important. Come, please join me in my office for some tea. We’ll just go through the formalities, and then you can take your pick of any position you want!”

Li Xiaohai clapped him on the shoulder. ”Old Yang, you’re a true friend!”

And with that, they strutted away.

The young woman from the HR department bent down to pick up the scraps of paper, on the verge of tears. ”But... but this memo was approved by the executives on the top floor... What... what am I supposed to do now?”
