The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

”Deputy Team Leader, this is the situation. There are too many children, and I really can’t fit them all in!”

He Tiantian approached the Deputy Team Leader and Liujiaao Village Chief, Liu Chuanfu, explained the situation, and then expressed her difficulty: ”Everyone is from the village. If I take in the children from one family, I can’t refuse the kids from another!”

”But there are too many children. Even holding classes in the courtyard isn’t feasible!”

The courtyard is spacious enough, but the key issue is the lack of desks and chairs, not even a blackboard. Am I supposed to shout all day long?

He Tiantian detailed all the difficulties.

”Oh dear, this really is a problem!”

Liu Chuanfu frowned.

His grandsons and granddaughters were also following the Educated Youth Heh at the Educated Youth Corps, learning writing instead of crafts.

So, even if Educated Youth Heh hadn’t come, Liu Chuanfu would have gone to the Educated Youth Corps.

Yesterday, the children came back complaining, saying they had to sit outside in the hot summer, getting bitten by mosquitoes, which was too much.

Feeding mosquitoes in the courtyard is one thing, but without even a bench, twenty or thirty children had to sit on the ground.

Children growing up in the countryside aren’t afraid of dirt; it’s just that this isn’t how they imagined ’learning’ to be.

”Originally, our village had a primary school, which was the ancestral hall at the village head.”

Liu Chuanfu said slowly, smoking his self-rolled cigarette, ”Later, we merged with the neighboring Qingshan Village to form the Qingliu Team and built a new primary school in Qingshan Village.”

Children in the village all went to the neighboring Qingliu Primary School.

Afterwards, the school became chaotic. Although classes weren’t stopped, many children stopped attending school.

Thus, Qingliu Primary School was left empty.

”How about I go to the ancestral hall at the village head to teach the children?”

He Tiantian cautiously asked, observing Liu Chuanfu’s expression.

”Well, the ancestral hall is empty, but there are no desks or chairs.”

Everything was moved to Qingliu Primary School because a merger isn’t just about a name; both villages had to contribute financially and with labor.

He Tiantian wanted to say that she could go to Qingliu Primary School.

However, Qingliu Primary School belongs to the Qingliu Team, not something Liu Chuanfu as a deputy can decide.

Reopening the primary school is really no small matter, and teachers need to be supplemented.

In rural areas, everyone wants to do lighter jobs.

Village-run teachers might not be as prestigious as public school teachers, but in rural areas, it’s already a very good job.

In the past, such jobs were either allocated to those who contributed or, well, you know...

For example, Qingliu Primary School had a male teacher who, during mountain blasting, was accidentally struck on the leg by flying rocks, which broke his leg.

Due to the lack of medical facilities in the mountain village and inconvenient transportation, it was too late to send him to the county hospital, leaving his leg useless.

It was a work injury, so the production team arranged for him to teach at the primary school.

In fact, he himself only completed two years of primary school and couldn’t even recognize all the characters.

After Educated Youths came to the countryside, some couldn’t handle the hard farm work and wanted to teach at the primary school.

But, there were only a few teacher positions, and even the Qingliu Team couldn’t accommodate all their people, let alone an outsider!

He Tiantian is now an Educated Youth. Although she has enough ’students’, she definitely can’t be the one to suggest going to Qingliu Primary School.

He Tiantian remained silent, leaving the problem to Liu Chuanfu.

Liu Chuanfu took a deep drag on his cigarette, the tobacco wrapped in newspaper burned instantly, almost reaching his fingers, before he tossed the cigarette butt away.

He stomped on it forcefully with his yellow-green rubber boots, as if making a firm decision, ”I’ll figure this out!”

Letting children learn skills is a serious matter that can’t be delayed.

Moreover, at the meetings in the brigade over the past few days, the external situation seems to be changing.

Liu Chuanfu felt that their primary school should also be re-established.

Of course, the higher-ups’ movements are beyond Liu Chuanfu’s insight, but Educated Youth Heh’s example is right in front of them.

Ordinary villagers might be tempted, and even someone like him, a deputy team leader, secretly had his wife send their children to the Educated Youth Corps.

In fact, not just in Liujiaao, but across the river, Qingshan Village was probably eager to try as well.

If not for the river separating them and Qingshan Village’s pride, they would have approached Educated Youth Heh sooner.

If Qingliu Primary School reopens, it can accommodate a few more teachers.

Other Educated Youths might not be accepted by the Qingliu Team, but Educated Youth Heh—
