The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

”What’s wrong with ’children’s literature’? Children are the future, they’re hope. I’m proud and honored to provide them with spiritual nourishment!”

He Tiantian glanced at the scheming Chen Jianjun and said casually.

Chen Jianjun: ... Damn, you write something to entertain kids, and now you’re feeling superior?

Originally, he thought when ”Heh Yuntian” mentioned writing articles for manuscript fees, they were talking about serious articles for newspapers.

At least, they should be in adult-oriented professional magazines.

And in such articles, it’s hard not to include some personal touches from the author.

For instance, expressing views on certain matters or venting frustration about certain realities.

However, no matter the situation, there would be subtle traces in the text. Chen Jianjun only needed to find these traces and write an anonymous report letter—

There was no deep-seated hatred between Chen Jianjun and Heh Yuntian.

But he just couldn’t stand this pretty boy, and behind this dislike was actually deep jealousy and endless envy.

Chen Jianjun had already snatched Zhuoya from Heh Yuntian, which made him happy and delighted, yet somewhat uncertain inside.

Especially since Zhuoya and he hadn’t fully established their relationship yet, stuck in a state of fondness without crossing the line of friendship.

Chen Jianjun was still a bit anxious, fearing that Heh Yuntian might turn the tables and snatch Zhuoya back.

No!

Chen Jianjun decided he needed to trample Heh Yuntian underfoot, so he could never turn the tables again!

So, upon knowing that Heh Yuntian was preparing to submit a manuscript, he was eager to ”find flaws where none existed.”

But now, Heh Yuntian returned with a sample issue of ”children’s literature.”

Tsk tsk, this sort of stuff only kids would read; he hadn’t touched it in years.

The key point is, it’s hard to find the ”evidence” Chen Jianjun wanted in such childish stories.

”Oh dear, that’s right, Chen Jianjun, your focus seems a little strange!”

”Yeah, whether it’s ’children’s literature’ or newspapers and magazines, the point is that Comrade He’s article actually got published!”

”Exactly, and since it’s published, there’s a manuscript fee. Money is what’s truly important, isn’t it?”

The other Educated Youth Corps members surrounded He Tiantian, chattering excitedly.

Their focus was, unsurprisingly, different from someone as scheming as Chen Jianjun; they didn’t care what Heh Yuntian wrote, they just wanted to know how much was on the remittance slip Heh Yuntian received.

Who cares if it’s a black cat or a white cat, if it catches mice, it’s a good cat!

”Old Heh, come on, show us how much you received in manuscript fees!”

”Yeah, yeah, for these little stories, the word count should be quite high. Even at five yuan per thousand words, a short story should at least be three to five thousand words—”

Perhaps it might even reach twenty to thirty thousand words.

Just one story could earn you twenty to thirty yuan in manuscript fees.

Twenty to thirty yuan, that’s equivalent to a worker’s monthly salary!

”Well, this time it’s a six-thousand-word short fairy tale, at ten yuan per thousand words—”

He Tiantian didn’t show the remittance slip to everyone, but spoke modestly.

There was no need for her to finish speaking; everyone could calculate the figures themselves.

”No way, ten yuan per thousand words, six thousand words, that, that means over sixty yuan!”

Qian Guodong, who had been following Chen Jianjun around these days, immediately widened his eyes, face full of envy.

Boom!

A short piece, a few thousand words, and you can casually earn over sixty yuan in manuscript fees?

Forget the villagers outside who were shocked; even the Educated Youth Corps members were a bit taken aback.

”Besides, I’ve also written a few other stories submitted to various story magazines.”

Still feeling it wasn’t ”stimulating” enough, He Tiantian said casually.

”Tch, as if you can get published just by writing! Hmph, you really consider yourself a literary giant!”

Seeing ”Heh Yuntian” once again become the center of discussion and envy, Chen Jianjun felt psychologically unbalanced.

He spat out a sour remark.

He Tiantian, unfazed, nodded and said, ”Yes, Comrade Chen has a point. Submitting a manuscript doesn’t guarantee publication; everything depends on the remittance slip and sample book received!”

Chen Jianjun: ... The words I intended to say were stolen by that pretty boy, so damn frustrating.

”Oh come on, even getting one published is great, the manuscript fee is over sixty yuan!”

The other Educated Youth Corps members were envious, but didn’t harbor the same malice as Chen Jianjun.
