The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 1103: Chapter 418: My Husband Is the Supporting Male Lead (Part 17)_3

Because the Fourth Prince is truly more worth investing in than Zhou Jin.

And He Shu is confident that even if she displeases Zhou Jin today, she can win him back in the future.

But with the Fourth Prince, that’s not the case. Once you miss the opportunity, it’s truly gone!

”Third Sister, you may not know, last time our second aunt helped me consider Prince Qin—”

He Shu intentionally kept it vague, but she didn’t think she was completely lying.

The birthday banquet at Marquis Chengen’s Mansion was indeed an occasion where Ma Family brought her along, with the intent to evaluate prospects.

And it was at this banquet that He Shu met Fourth Prince Qin and they took a liking to each other.

All things considered, it was basically Ma Family helping her evaluate Prince Qin.

”Prince Qin?”

”Fourth Brother?”

The seemingly united yet estranged couple, He Tiantian and Zhou Jin, surprisingly chimed in together.

He Tiantian was amazed by He Shu’s decisiveness, clicking her tongue, indeed the female lead knows how to weigh choices.

Zhou Jin, however, was shocked and disappointed.

Since when did Shushu have dealings with Fourth Brother?

Also, was Shushu declining earlier because of Fourth Brother?

Has she fallen for Fourth Brother?!

Zhou Jin’s heart felt as if it was being fiercely gripped, a suffocating pain.

”Did my mom help in matchmaking for you? Impossible, I was at the Marquis Mansion this morning and specifically asked mom about the marriage proposal for Fourth Sister, and she never mentioned it!”

He Tiantian wouldn’t let He Shu muddle through.

”Second Aunt~~”

When He Shu mentioned Ma Family, she deliberately gave He Tiantian a troubled look.

She seemed to be saying, Ma Family is your mom, always favoring you. She has covered up for you countless times since you were young.

This time, to help you, she’ll probably still wrong me!

Though He Shu didn’t speak these words, her eyes conveyed it clearly.

Others might not get it, but Zhou Jin had seen Ma Family’s favoritism towards He Tian many times.

Thus, he believed He Shu more—Ma Family indeed wanted He Shu to marry into Prince Qin’s Mansion as a concubine, but upon hearing from ”He Tian” about wanting to help the family Princess Consort take in a concubine, Ma Family would definitely change her tune!

”...Even so, then, then let’s drop this matter!”

Ultimately, Zhou Jin felt more for He Shu. Although it’s regrettable not to marry her, he didn’t want to make things difficult for her or have her offend Ma Family, the marchioness.

He Shu subtly sighed in relief, having muddled through the matter.

He Tiantian raised her eyebrows: dear cousin, you’re celebrating too soon.

”Tiantian, do you have a backup plan?”

Student Xiao D overheard He Tiantian’s inner voice and couldn’t help but ask.

”I have no backup plan! But, the war report from the Northwest is about to arrive!”

He Tiantian casually remarked.

Once the Northwest war report arrives, the entire Capital City will learn that General He was seriously injured and heir He Tao’s whereabouts are unknown.

The He Family no longer has anyone capable of leading the He Family Army on the battlefield!

South, Marquis Ning’s Mansion is about to collapse.

The reason Fourth Prince Qin chose He Shu, an orphaned girl without father or brother, as a concubine was because of the He family’s military power.

With the He family’s downfall, He Shu loses her value.

Prince Qin wouldn’t waste a valuable concubine slot.

On this side, he quieted down, and no matter how proactive He Shu was, it would only make Zhou Jin uneasy.

Of course, He Shu is a smart woman.

When she discovers she can no longer marry Prince Qin, and the He family is about to decline, unable to marry into other prestigious families, she can only tightly grip Zhou Jin as a backup!

However, with her past involvement with Prince Qin, Zhou Jin will surely harbor doubts in his heart.

It may not turn into hatred from love, but it definitely won’t be the wholehearted devotion he had for He Shu in the original plot.

And once there’s a rift, Zhou Jin likely won’t remain the deeply affectionate supporting male lead.

He Tiantian crafted this scheme to let Zhou Jin see He Shu’s true colors.

Uh, well, He Tiantian played some tricks, but isn’t this normal?

After all, she’s the villain. What’s the point of her title if she doesn’t play some calculating games?

Indeed, three days later, the urgent war report from Northwest arrived at the Capital City.

The news of He Jing and his son’s defeat spread throughout the Imperial court.

The He family was in a cloud of despondency, while the Emperor and the officials in the Political Affairs Hall were troubled—

The Hulu launched a massive attack, taking two cities.

He Jing was severely injured, He Tao was missing, and the tens of thousands of Northwest Army troops were leaderless.

The court must quickly appoint a new commander.

However, the He family’s prestige in the Northwest Army was too high, abruptly appointing a general unrelated to the He family would make it difficult to control tens of thousands of troops in a short time.

As for the He family, there were only a few women and children left, with no suitable candidate.

Several elder princes seized the opportunity to insert their people, engaging in mutual slander and framing.

Prince Qin focused on important matters, completely sidelining He Shu.

The astute He Shu, seeing the incessant cries from the Marquis Mansion, knew the He family was doomed.

She must quickly resolve her lifetime matters before the family’s downfall...
