The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 128: Chapter 087 Discoveries_3

From feeling inferior and timid to becoming strong and independent, even somewhat aggressive.

These past two days, there had been rumors in class that the bully, Duan Nana, was looking for an opportunity to teach He Tiantian a lesson.

This afternoon, just before school was about to end, Zhou Zixuen saw one of Duan Nana’s little sidekicks looking for He Tiantian.

At that moment, Zhou Zixuen was worried that He Tiantian might be bullied by Duan Nana and her cronies again.

However, as soon as class ended, before Zhou Zixuen had a chance to pack up, she discovered that He Tiantian had disappeared.

Zhou Zixuen, concerned, joined Ma Siqi to go and look for her.

The two of them went to both the East School Gate and the West School Gate, as well as a few secluded corners, but found no sign of He Tiantian or Duan Nana.

Just when they were becoming even more worried, they happened to see He Tiantian strolling leisurely from the West School Gate to the East School Gate.

She wasn’t crying, and there were no traces of dust or scars on her body.

Only then did Zhou Zixuen and Ma Siqi feel relieved. The two didn’t raise any alarm and instead went straight to the cafeteria to eat.

Back in the dormitory, neither of them brought it up with He Tiantian, as if nothing had happened.

Still, Zhou Zixuen was worried, but she had a premonition.

Even if He Tiantian had been cornered by Duan Nana, the current her might not necessarily be at a disadvantage.

At the very least, if she couldn’t escape and had to endure a beating, He Tiantian would find a way to gather evidence and then go to the teachers or even call the police directly!

Without any particular reason, Zhou Zixuen just had this firm belief.

Zhou Zixuen felt that she had come to know He Tiantian quite well, but at this moment she was taken aback.

He Tiantian, a seventeen-year-old high school junior, was actually looking for interpreting work on a Foreign Language professional forum.

This, this—

Zhou Zixuen’s mother, due to her job, often interacts with foreigners and is well aware of the high demands of conference interpreting.

Just recently, Mrs. Zhou was a bit worried. She even mentioned it offhandedly in a video call with Zhou Zixuen yesterday.

Zhou Zixuen took note of this.

At this moment, upon catching a glimpse of He Tiantian’s actions, Zhou Zixuen blurted out a question without thinking.

”Yeah, I’m proficient in English, French, German, and I can manage Spanish too, though not as well!”

He Tiantian was not modest, speaking the straightforward truth.

Zhou Zixuen felt an inexplicable trust in the He Tiantian before her. Upon hearing such an almost ”bragging” statement, she didn’t feel it was ridiculous or laughable. Instead, she asked another question, ”Is your English up to the standard for interpreting?”

He Tiantian nodded without hesitation.

Zhou Zixuen then questioned, ”What if it involves certain professional fields? For instance, can you interpret for a medical industry conference?”

”I can!” More than capable!

She didn’t mention that her English was at an expert level, or that in her previous world, she studied medicine in the USA, establishing a sports medicine treatment and rehabilitation center, and even published many papers.

Among those activities, she needed to be thoroughly familiar with numerous medical terms.

”My mother just happens to need an English interpreter familiar with the medical industry. Would you, would you be willing to give it a try?”

”The negotiation conference is from October 3rd to 5th, in neighboring Island City. Travel expenses are reimbursed, and after the conference, a reward of about ten thousand yuan will be given.”

Ten thousand yuan for three days, even for high-demand interpreting, was not a meager reward.

He Tiantian was somewhat tempted, quickly smiling and saying, ”Sure, I’d like to give it a try. By the way, do I need to undergo a preliminary assessment?”

He Tiantian was very confident in her abilities, but her age and experience were obvious.

If she were a member of the Association of International Conference Interpreters (AIIC), there would be no need for discussion, just flash the qualification and people would be persuaded.

Of course, if He Tiantian really had the AIIC membership, she wouldn’t need to scout for work on forums.

Naturally, the association or other members would help introduce her to reliable jobs.

”There probably should be!”

Hearing He Tiantian proactively request an ”assessment,” Zhou Zixuen’s belief in He Tiantian grew even stronger.

Still, she cautiously added, ”Let me call my real mother and ask.”

After much coaxing—short of swearing a curse—Zhou Zixuen managed to secure an ”interview” opportunity for He Tiantian.

The time was set for this Friday evening, which was tomorrow.

”Zixuen, thank you! Once I pass the interview, I’ll treat you to a great meal!”

He Tiantian smiled brightly, her eyes curved in her trademark sweet smile.

Zhou Zixuen couldn’t help but reach out and ruffle He Tiantian’s short hair, ”Alright, once you pass my mother’s test, I’ll make sure to splurge on you!”

”And me too!” Ma Siqi, having finished washing up, came over with droplets of water on her hair, joining in the laughter.

”Okay, all invited!” He Tiantian was all the more cheerful, and she suddenly realized that her high school life might not be so gloomy, desolate, and hopeless after all...
