The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 114: Chapter 083: The Whole Family Is Top-grade (Part 15)

”Tiantian, Mom, did I embarrass you?”

Liu Xiuzhi was still uneasy. After returning home, she walked around the yard a few times, and finally ran off to the village committee office to make a phone call.

Tiantian had left them a temporary phone number the last time she called home.

Liu Xiuzhi carefully wrote it down on a piece of paper, and now, she dialed the number.

After identifying herself and explaining that she wanted to reach He Tiantian from the archery team, Liu Xiuzhi put down the phone and waited.

After a long while, the telephone bell rang. Liu Xiuzhi hastily picked up the receiver and confirmed that it was indeed her daughter on the other end. She said a bit of this and a bit of that about what happened that day.

In the end, she asked anxiously, ”Did I, did I cause trouble?”

”Mom, what are you talking about? How could you have embarrassed me?”

Upon hearing Liu Xiuzhi’s jumbled account, Tiantian quickly grasped the main points—

Firstly, the county leaders mentioned giving a reward, which might have been sincere or just politeness, but Liu Xiuzhi took it seriously and made a big demand.

Secondly, the He Family got their first television, which wasn’t shared with the whole village; they let everyone watch for a few days before Liu Xiuzhi assertively moved it away.

Hmm~~

These actions couldn’t exactly be said to be wrong, but they did seem rather top-grade.

But, there was no helping it; that’s how the script was written. Their entire family was top-grade.

Since they were all top-grade, it was only natural for them to do top-grade things.

Liu Xiuzhi could think of the possibility that she might have lost face and caused trouble for her daughter, and Tiantian was already very comforted by this.

She wasn’t afraid of having top-grade family members; she was only worried they would act top-grade without realizing it, and worse, pretend they were doing ”what’s best for her.”

That would really be the true disaster.

”Mom, leaders caring for the public and encouraging athletes who bring glory to the country is quite normal.”

”Like you said, when someone from our county tops the college entrance exams, the leaders give a monetary award.”

”College entrance exam top-scorers are seen each year, sometimes more than one. But your daughter here won the Asian Games champion title, which only comes around every four years, and is unique!”

Tiantian didn’t blame Liu Xiuzhi for her top-grade actions; rather, she followed her mother’s train of thought and reassured her thoroughly.

It’s still that same old saying; Liu Xiuzhi was indeed a shrew, often doing shameless things.

But everyone else might laugh at or criticize Liu Xiuzhi, only Tiantian could not.

Regardless of how Liu Xiuzhi was with others, to Tiantian, she was absolutely a motherly figure.

Because of Liu Xiuzhi’s top-grade behavior, Tiantian also reaped the rewards—most of the money and things Liu Xiuzhi swindled benefitted her.

Even if Liu Xiuzhi truly did something wrong, the only thing Tiantian could do was not to blame or curse, but to help her real mother clean up the mess, and compensate and apologize even more.

Of course, Tiantian would guide and restrain Liu Xiuzhi, letting her have her small pleasures but never allowing her to hurt others or cross the legal boundaries.

This phone call also revealed that Liu Xiuzhi’s nature wasn’t bad; she wasn’t some bloodthirsty villain; she, she was at most a cunning peasant woman who loved to take small advantages.

She had reverence and concern at the bottom of her heart, and that was enough.

Tiantian said with a smile, ”And about that television, it was originally bought for you. Do whatever you like with it.”

”If you enjoy the hustle and bustle and want to watch TV with the uncles and aunts, then let everyone watch together.”

”If you find it noisy, then close the door and just let our own family watch.”

”If the villagers really want to watch it, then place the TV in our yard, and anyone who wants to watch can bring some sunflower seeds, eggs—”

Tiantian didn’t directly mention money, but she knew with her mother’s shrewdness, she would definitely think of these things.

”Ah, Tiantian, I knew it, you would definitely not blame me!”

Hearing her daughter’s calm voice on the phone, Liu Xiuzhi finally felt relieved.

Heh, as long as her daughter didn’t think she was a disgrace or find fault with her causing trouble, it was fine.

She didn’t care about such things in the past, but now, as the dead old man said, their family’s status had changed.

They used to be the most ordinary old farmers—not minding to roll on the ground, crying poor and playing for sympathy, never feeling that it was disgraceful or burdensome.

Liu Xiuzhi had a clear understanding, even if she didn’t act up or cry poor, those high and mighty city folks would still look down on her.
