Sorry, Our Captain Is a True All-Rounder

Chapter 43: Chapter 43: A Fall

Hearing the voice, the group turned to look at him. They all sat up straight and respectfully called out, ”Hello, Teacher.”

They looked just like a bunch of obedient kids.

Being called ”Teacher” made the man very happy.

He had taught new recruits for so many years, but this was the first time anyone had called him ”Teacher.”

”My name is Jiang Lusheng. Call me Instructor Jiang,” he said, introducing himself.

”This drawing’s not bad at all,” Jiang Lusheng said, his eyes never leaving the large sheet of paper.

The Mecha’s exterior and interior were drawn out in careful detail, and it was quite realistic.

”Very eager to learn,” Jiang Lusheng commented as he put the drawing down.

The group just smiled without saying anything. ’Of course we have to study hard, since we’ve never encountered this before.’

Jiang Lusheng didn’t say much more. He carefully looked at their notes and found that each of the five had their own method for taking them.

Sloppy, meticulous, and casual.

When the break was over, Jiang Lusheng didn’t continue the lecture. Instead, he took them directly to the Mecha training room.

The basics were covered. Time to get in a Mecha!

In the vast Mecha hangar, row after row of Mechas stood tall in the distance.

They were all different colors, and their large, iron eyes radiated a chilling aura.

The Mechas emanated a cold, chilling presence that was somewhat intimidating.

But they weren’t afraid. On the contrary, they were excited.

’Are we finally going to get our hands on a Mecha?’

There weren’t many Mechas, so each group got one, and everyone would take turns learning.

Lin Jingjing’s group was assigned a pink Mecha.

The pink Mecha’s outer shell was covered in scratches and chipped paint. Some parts were even rusted. Not only that, but there were also cobwebs, and the surface was coated in a layer of dust.

It was battered and worn, clearly having been left sitting for a very long time.

The group stared at the Mecha, all tilting their heads in unison.

’Can this thing even run?’

”This Mecha isn’t broken, is it?” Shi Feng was the first to speak.

”If they brought it out, it should be usable,” Lin Jingjing chimed in.

As she spoke, she reached out and touched the Mecha’s exterior, pulling her hand back to see it covered in dust.

Now, Lin Jingjing wasn’t so sure if the Mecha could be operated.

The other groups had already gotten their Mechas and were starting to enter the cockpits and boot them up.

But the five of them were still here, fumbling around.

”How do you open this thing?” Feng He asked after circling it once.

Mo Xuan followed behind her, his gaze sweeping up and down the pink Mecha.

’I really don’t know where to open it to get into the cockpit.’

Shi Feng and Lin Jingjing also came over to study it carefully.

”This Mecha... it’s too ancient,” Shi Feng said with a tsk. ”This is nothing like the ones we washed in the mecha bay.”

As Jiang Lusheng made his rounds, he nodded in satisfaction.

When he reached Lin Jingjing’s team, he saw the five of them gathered around the pink Mecha, just staring at it.

Not only were they just looking, but they were also muttering and chattering about something.

”What are you all doing?” Jiang Lusheng asked as he walked over.

Hearing his voice, the five of them looked at him and said in unison, ”Researching.”

”What’s there to research about this Mecha?” Jiang Lusheng retorted, glancing at the battered machine.

”Then how do you get into the cockpit?” Lin Jingjing asked bluntly.

Hearing this, Jiang Lusheng was completely stunned.

’They have to ask such a simple question?’

”You don’t know how?” Jiang Lusheng asked back.

The group earnestly shook their heads. They really didn’t know.

Jiang Lusheng looked up and closed his eyes. They had listened so attentively and had even drawn out the Mecha diagram; he had thought they were model students.

He never expected they wouldn’t even know how to open the cockpit.

Finally, Jiang Lusheng wiped his face, took a deep breath, and began to explain to them seriously.

”This Mecha is a 20-year-old product, suitable for people like you with a Grade D Spiritual Power Level.”

”If you want to get into the cockpit, you have to open it manually.” As he spoke, Jiang Lusheng went to the back of the pink Mecha, grabbed a recessed handle, and with a heave, pulled the cockpit hatch open.

The moment the hatch opened, a cloud of dust billowed out.

Jiang Lusheng immediately let go of the hatch and hurriedly covered his nose and mouth with the back of his hand.

But the five of them, as if they had known all along, had already retreated to a safe distance while he was opening it.

”A 20-year-old Mecha... the dust really is something else,” Lin Jingjing said, crossing one arm over her chest and waving away the dust in the air with her other hand.

’It looks like it was tossed in a warehouse for ages and forgotten. Who knows why they dug it out now.’ ’They didn’t even bother to clean it before throwing it at us.’

Jiang Lusheng stood there coughing for a while. Only after most of the dust had settled did he turn around.

”It’s open. Who wants to go in and try it out first?” Jiang Lusheng asked.

At his words, the five of them immediately started deferring to one another. ”You guys go ahead,” Lin Jingjing said first. Her gaze fell on the person standing next to her as she said, ”Xiao Wenzi, haven’t you always wanted to try? You go first.”

Gu Kaiwen immediately shook his head and waved his hands. ”No need for me. I remember Mo Xuan has been dreaming of trying it.”

”Let him go, let him go.”

Mo Xuan shook his head, his sharp gaze landing on Shi Feng. He then said with great seriousness, ”Xiao Shi has always wanted to study the inside of a Mecha. Let him go.”

Shi Feng silently tried to shrink his presence, his gaze darting around before he replied, ”I’m not going.”

Then he started whistling.

Jiang Lusheng watched them pass the buck to each other and finally just called someone out by name.

”Lin Jingjing, you go try.”

Hearing Lin Jingjing’s name, the others breathed a sigh of relief, while Lin Jingjing’s entire face fell.

’With all this dust, won’t I go crazy if I go in and take one breath?’

”Mask! Mask!” Lin Jingjing shouted at them. ”Quick, find me a mask!” She looked frantic.

Feng He handed her a mask. After putting it on, Lin Jingjing went inside.

The inside was thick with dust. Lin Jingjing slapped the seat once before sitting down.

After starting up the Mecha, she discovered that this model didn’t require a spiritual power connection.

It could be operated as soon as it was activated.

At that moment, Jiang Lusheng looked at the Mecha’s eyes, which had begun to light up, and then started his explanation.

”This Mecha was built 20 years ago. Its most special feature is that it doesn’t require a spiritual power connection.”

”Because your spiritual power is the lowest, modern Mechas are not suitable for you.”

The group all pouted. ’It’s still because our spiritual power is too weak. In the end, we can only use a 20-year-old Mecha.’

”But don’t you underestimate this Mecha. It’s the handiwork of Silver.”

’Who’s Silver?’

They didn’t know.

’Once again, we feel like complete ignoramuses.’

”Mr. Jiang, could you please explain?” Feng He asked with a smile. ”Who is this... Silver?”

Hearing this, Jiang Lusheng was once again astonished. The name Silver resounded throughout the entire Empire, famous to the point of being a household name.

’To think there were people who didn’t recognize the name.’

”You don’t recognize the name?” Jiang Lusheng asked.

The four of them shook their heads frantically.

Jiang Lusheng began to fill them in, while inside the Mecha, Lin Jingjing, after fumbling around for a bit, placed her hands on the Controller.

She then pressed something. The Mecha’s leg lifted, but before it could be put down, the other leg lifted up as well.

And then, the entire Mecha fell flat on the ground.

CRASH—

The huge noise interrupted Jiang Lusheng’s lesson. He turned his head to see the pink Mecha lying on the ground.
