Chapter 33: Chapter 33: A Hit

Once their forces were mustered, everyone immediately rushed toward He Shian and his group’s position.

Row after row of Mechas flew through the sky, a vast, dark mass that created an overwhelming sense of pressure.

Moreover, countless combat robots were also rushing to the front lines.

When they arrived at the battlefield, they discovered the situation was even more dire than they had imagined. A vast, swarming horde of rampaging mutant beasts filled their vision.

A rampaging mutant beast’s abilities were greatly enhanced across the board, making them far more difficult to fight.

These mutant beasts had already completely surrounded the battlefield. If the people trapped inside couldn’t break out, they would all be annihilated.

Beisang’s icy voice rang out, amplified by her spiritual power so that everyone could hear her with perfect clarity. ”All units, listen to my command.”

”Tonight, we will take down these frenzied mutant beasts.”

”Whatever the cost.”

Hearing Beisang’s order, all the soldiers raised their arms and roared in unison, ”Yes, Commander!”

After acknowledging the order, they all charged forward.

Beisang, seated in her Mecha, stared at the disaster unfolding before her. She began to wonder whether she should order the evacuation of B6 Star’s civilian population.

The last time the mutant beasts had rampaged, the entire planet had faced a major catastrophe. Not only that, but a promising, up-and-coming general had also been sacrificed.

That disaster had ended unresolved, with humanity ultimately abandoning the planet.

Although more than two decades had passed and their weaponry was now more advanced, Beisang still wasn’t certain they could hold the line tonight.

’I’ll just follow protocol.’

Beisang reported everything that was happening in detail and awaited orders from her commanding general.

With that done, she piloted her Mecha and charged. As a wielder of 2S Spiritual Power, the moment she entered the battlefield, she unleashed her power to its fullest, causing it to take on a physical form.

Pale silver bombs of materialized energy fell upon the mutant beasts, detonating on impact.

The sounds of explosions echoed across the battlefield, and many mutant beasts died in the blasts.

Back in the tent, the small group watched this unfold on the screen, their eyes wide with disbelief.

”Spiritual power is that incredible?” Shi Feng asked, unable to believe his eyes.

’It can actually create bombs and blow up these mutant beasts...’

Meanwhile, the soldiers, who had grown numb to the fighting, were suddenly reinvigorated at the sight of the silver-gray Mecha.

’That’s the commander of the First Corps!’

’She’s taken the field personally! This war will be over in no time!’

With their morale boosted, the soldiers fought with renewed vigor.

”AAAAHHH, die, you ugly freaks!”

”Get out of our homeland!”

”I’ll never let you devour our home!”

Most of the fighters on the battlefield were from B6 Star, and they fought with the determination to protect their home world.

Only the five of them remained in the tent. He Shian hadn’t rested for a moment; after bringing them back, he had immediately rushed out to join the battle.

The five of them sat on their chairs, heads bowed and expressions grim. No one spoke.

The atmosphere was heavy, and their spirits were low.

They couldn’t accept being the weak ones in this fight.

They were used to being the ones protecting others. Now, they were the ones being protected, and though they desperately wanted to help, there was nothing they could do.

A wave of powerlessness washed over them, leaving all five feeling utterly demoralized.

”If only I had S-Class spiritual power,” Feng He lamented. ”Maybe then I wouldn’t be stuck here worrying. I could be out there fighting.”

Lin Jingjing said nothing, lost in her own self-doubt.

She looked at the large sniper rifle beside her, reaching out to touch it. The cold of the weapon’s frame seeped into her hand.

Listening to the frantic shouts from the battlefield, Lin Jingjing pressed her lips together, her heart aching.

Seeing how devastated everyone was, Mo Xuan thought for a moment before saying, ”I’m hungry.”

”Why don’t we get something to eat, calm down, and then go do what we need to do,” Mo Xuan said, looking at them earnestly.

’What we need to do?’

’What is there for us to do?’

’We were so sure we could kill that white mutant beast. Not only did we fail, but we made all the other mutant beasts here go on a rampage.’

’We’ve trapped everyone in a no-win situation. Failure means death, and B6 Star will become their breeding ground.’

Lin Jingjing was filled with self-reproach.

Her voice was subdued. ”You guys are hungry?”

”I’m hungry,” Mo Xuan said, rubbing his stomach. Seeing this, Gu Kaiwen chimed in, ”I’m hungry too.”

”Then let’s eat.” Lin Jingjing took out the food she had prepared and dished out a portion for everyone.

The meal had been kept in a thermal container, so it was still warm in their mouths.

With every bite, the images from the battlefield flashed through Lin Jingjing’s mind.

’There has to be a way to solve this.’

’I will kill that white mutant beast, no matter what.’

The five of them finished their meal in silent haste. Tossing their empty food containers aside, their earlier dejection and lack of fighting spirit vanished.

They stood up, picked up their large sniper rifles, and with renewed determination, one of them said, ”That white mutant beast is still waiting for us to kill it.”

”We have to kill it!” Shi Feng shouted, clenching his fist in a tone meant to rally their spirits.

The five of them then grabbed their weapons and left the tent once more, casting a glance at the brutal scene in the distance.

Without another word, all five charged forward.

They used their rifles to provide support for the other soldiers.

Lin Jingjing fought her way to the very front of the line, becoming disheveled and battle-worn in the process.

Her body was covered in numerous wounds, but from this distance, she could finally see the white mutant beast.

The creature wasn’t stationary; it was advancing under the cover of the Steel Beasts.

Perhaps sensing no immediate danger, its mood seemed to have lightened considerably.

Its large ears twitched back and forth.

Lin Jingjing found a tree and climbed it, using the foliage for cover. She was nearly invisible to a casual glance.

She was searching for an opening, waiting for the perfect moment for a one-shot kill.

When a nearby mutant beast was killed, Lin Jingjing immediately seized the opportunity—the brief gap created as it fell, before another could take its place.

With intense focus, she quickly pulled the trigger.

The rifle fired. The bullet streaked through the air at maximum velocity, slipping through the gap just as a Steel Beast moved to close it.

The shot tore off the white mutant beast’s arm.

The pain caused the white mutant beast to let out a horrifying shriek.

It was sharp and piercing, so loud that those closest to it were knocked unconscious by the sheer force of the sound.

Seeing this, Beisang immediately spread her spiritual power across the entire battlefield to protect all the soldiers.

On her Mecha’s monitor, she saw why the mutant beast was screaming—it was missing an arm.

’Who on earth fired that shot? To be able to penetrate its heavy defenses and take off its arm...’

Looking at the white mutant beast with its severed arm, Lin Jingjing felt a surge of triumph.

’A hit!’

’It would’ve been even better if I’d hit its head.’

’But if I can hit it once, I can hit it again.’

’Next time, I’ll definitely finish it off.’
