Sorry, Our Captain Is a True All-Rounder

Chapter 39: Chapter 39: I Want to Be a Soldier King

This gesture left the group unsure how to react. In the end, they all turned to look at Lin Jingjing.

Lin Jingjing stood to the side, a dumbfounded expression on her face. ’What in the world happened while I was unconscious?’

Receiving their helpless gazes, Lin Jingjing stepped forward. She cleared her throat and said, ”Admiral He, you don’t need to apologize to us.”

”We failed to follow your orders on the battlefield. It’s more than enough that you haven’t punished us for our mistake.”

As she spoke, Lin Jingjing gave him a formal salute. The other four quickly followed suit.

”And I haven’t even thanked you yet. If it weren’t for you, we would have all been killed by those mutant beasts,” Lin Jingjing explained.

He Shian watched them, a flicker of emotion stirring in his ice-blue eyes.

He hadn’t expected them to thank him instead of blaming him.

This made He Shian feel that what he had said the previous night was even more deplorable.

”Yes. I accept your thanks,” He Shian said. ”I also hope you can forgive me.”

The five of them were speechless.

’This Admiral is actually a pretty good guy.’

”Uh-huh, we forgive you,” the group said in unison, nodding.

Watching He Shian’s departing figure, the group sat down.

”I guess there are a lot of friendly people in the First Corps after all,” Feng He remarked.

”Yeah,” Mo Xuan chimed in from the side.

”Even the Admiral,” Gu Kaiwen added with a nod.

Shi Feng kept his lips pressed together, saying nothing. ’There are good people, but not many.’

When it came to the people of this world, he still preferred to assume the worst.

Lin Jingjing, not knowing what had transpired, sat down and remained silent.

After clearing their trays, the group left the cafeteria. Just as they were about to find a place to sit, they received a message from Captain Li on their Star Rings.

[Captain Li: Assemble at the back entrance to the kitchen.]

Seeing the message, they immediately nodded and headed for the kitchen.

When they arrived, they saw Captain Li standing there with his hands behind his back. The light shining down on his face made him look especially stern.

The kind of look that said he could explode and start cursing someone out at any moment.

The group lined up from tallest to shortest and faced Captain Li.

Each wore a resolute expression, as if they were prepared to march to their deaths.

”I called you here because I have some good news for you,” Captain Li said, looking at them seriously.

”Sir!” Lin Jingjing spoke up.

”Speak.”

”What’s the good news?” Lin Jingjing asked curiously.

Hearing this, Captain Li instantly flew off the handle. ”Of course I’m going to tell you! Do you really need to ask that here?!”

”Idiot!”

Being cursed at actually made Lin Jingjing feel a little more at ease.

’This is the real Captain Li. Curses flying the moment he opens his mouth.’

Captain Li didn’t keep them in suspense any longer. ”In two days, you’ll be joining the main troops for classes and training.”

”You’ll cram every piece of knowledge you’ve missed into those brains of yours.”

After saying this, Captain Li’s gaze landed on Lin Jingjing. He said in a snide tone, ”Especially you, Lin Jingjing.”

”Make sure you thoroughly learn how to pilot a mecha. Don’t be so clueless you don’t even know how to disconnect from it.”

’Does this mean... the five of us are going to systematically learn everything here?’

Their hearts pounded with excitement. ’Finally! No more feeding chickens and pigs, watering plants, and cooking every day!’

’We’re going to pilot mechas too!’

”Really?!” the group asked, overjoyed but still uncertain. They stared at Captain Li with wide eyes.

He looked at their pairs of bright, shining eyes, all filled with excitement.

Captain Li swallowed the rebuke he was about to give. Instead, he nodded, grunted, and said, ”Would I lie to you?”

With that, he reached for his Space Ring, pulled out a large bag, and tossed it into the arms of Lin Jingjing, who was in the middle of the group.

Lin Jingjing held the bag, completely baffled.

”Your training uniforms are inside.” He then pulled out two more and tossed them over.

”Pick out your sizes and head back. You can rest for the next two days; no work during the day.” Thinking of their cooking skills, Captain Li added, ”But you still have to cook dinner.”

”Yes, sir!”

After speaking, Captain Li turned, put his hands behind his back, and sauntered away.

The group opened the bags, which contained clothes and shoes.

They each took clothes in their size and returned to their dorm. The whole way back from the kitchen, their hearts were filled with joy.

They finally had a chance to understand this world more deeply and learn so much more.

Most importantly, they would learn how to pilot a mecha!

Feng He clutched his training uniform, his face beaming and his voice laced with joy.

”I wonder if they’ll teach design. I want to learn weapon design.”

The others looked at him. Feng He’s passion for the subject was as strong as ever.

”They probably will,” Mo Xuan agreed, a smile also gracing his fair face.

Beside them, Gu Kaiwen clenched his fists, his face filled with a craving for training.

Then, he voiced his own aspiration: ”I will become the King of Soldiers again!”

Just as he said this, a sudden sneer echoed from nearby. The group’s sharp ears caught it.

Their steps faltered, and they stopped to look.

They saw two men standing not far away, watching them with their arms crossed.

The one with red hair had a particularly boyish face, looking like he’d just come out of school.

The yellow-haired man beside him had an indifferent expression, but disdain was evident in his eyes.

The red-haired man sized up Gu Kaiwen from head to toe, his eyes etched with contempt and disdain.

The three of them looked at the pair. ’Hmph... a couple of little brats.’

So, after pausing to look for only a few seconds, the three of them tacitly broke eye contact and started walking away.

This act infuriated the red-haired boy. ’How dare three Grade D losers ignore them!’

’They were S-Class Spiritual Ability Users!’

”Hey—!” The red-haired boy couldn’t hold back. He stepped forward and shouted at them, his face filled with rage.

”You bunch of losers! What gives you the right to ignore us?”

”Losers who just get weak in the knees and hold everyone back on the battlefield! What right do you have to ignore us?”

Hearing this, the three were speechless. Gu Kaiwen turned around and stared straight at the two of them. ”Fine. So what’s your point?”

Gu Kaiwen’s question caught the guy off guard. He gritted his teeth and said resentfully, ”What other point could we have? We’re mocking you for overestimating yourselves. A Grade D spiritual power, and you want to be the King of Soldiers?”

”You’re dreaming.”

”Uh-huh. And then what?” Mo Xuan turned to face them and asked coolly.

”You bunch of losers should be crawling at our feet, wagging your tails and licking our boots,” the red-haired boy continued, his words growing viler.

The three of them collectively rolled their eyes. ’This kid... has he never heard of freedom, equality, justice, and the rule of law?’
