The Golem Mage

The cover that surrounded the arena of the Colosseum finally retracted back, allowing the crowd to see the teams that have just participated in one of their best battles since the competition began

The two teams stared at each other intently, however, Alec found himself bearing the brunt of both admiration and criticism as his name was chanted, while he received abundant praise, it came with a fair share of animosity since he was responsible for eliminating the favourite team of the capital residents.

Now, all eyes were on the War God Academy team, not as failures trying to rewrite history that had once taken place, but as fan favourites due to the intensity and captivating nature of their battles.

Most students from ordinary academies redirected their cheers towards the War God Academy team.

Having seen their own academies bow out early, they rallied behind the dark horse that defied expectations and persisted in the competition, it felt as though they had found someone to carry the hopes of their defeated teams against the overpowering Great Eight academies.

”Next time we meet, I promise to settle this debt of defeat by cutting off one of your hands,” Luis Blade declared with a grin as he approached Lucas.

”You’re welcome any day, any time, but imagine the elders’ faces when they discover we’ve matched their new generation Blade’s king realm,” Lucas responded to Luis.

”I don’t cares about those old men or their opinion, all I desire is to hone my swordsmanship each day, perfecting my technique until I am truly invincible,” Luis retorted, placing both hands behind his neck as he gazed contemplatively at the sky, engrossed in Lucas’ words.

Lucas and Luis had been dispatched to the Northern Kingdom because the clan doubted their worthiness to ascend to a higher level of swordsmanship.

Although there were low expectations for them, but the Blade clan had made preparations to assist Lucas and anyone else in achieving their goals.

However, when Lucas requested to be sent to the rundown War God Academy instead of one of the prestigious academies in the Northern Kingdom, it shocked the clan elders, as they believed Lucas had given up on competing with the younger generation of the Blade clan for the title of Blade King.

But they were mistaken, Lucas was simply drawn to the rich history of the War God Academy, as he felt a strong connection there.

The Blade Clan eagerly sent him away to pursue his own path of learning, having already eliminated him and his brother from their considerations as future pillars of the clan, so they didn’t bother much about them.

As they reminisced, Luis broke the silence.

”Now, come to think of it, which realm do you think that monster has reached by now?” Luis said as he walked away, his hands still folded behind his neck nonchalantly.

”Before we left the clan back then, he was already a low-tier 5 Mage, the pride of the entire Blade clan, but with only the clan’s support, I believe he may have only reached the peak of Tier 5 by now, on par with all those captain genius students from the great academies,” Lucas responded, absentmindedly touching his jaw, lost in thought.

Luis interjected with a carefree tone,

” All I know is that if he starts feeling threatened by two outcasts like us, who were sent away from the clan, he might come after our head, just to keep his title as this generation’s Blade King, well that’s all, see you later, bro!” He saluted Lucas and walked away.

Observing their interaction, Alec couldn’t help but wear a peculiar expression.

Having overheard the conversation between the twin brothers, he found it to be one of the most unsettling discussions he had ever heard between siblings.

He was perplexed by all the talk of killing and cutting off hands, but seeing the big smile on Lucas’s face after he had faced Luis a few minutes ago—as if he wanted to decapitate him made him question whether it was just their peculiar way of expressing care for each other.

The crowd erupted in cheers, and the rest of the team waved their hands at the spectators and the new fans they had seemingly acquired.

”For the first time, it actually feels good to have people watching me fight, even if I die fast,” Pale mentioned.

”Well, that’s because this is the first time they are genuinely dedicated to cheering us on,” Endrick, who was by his side, added.

They walked out of the arena through the same hall they had used to enter the Colosseum in the first place.

As they were walking, Alec turned around only to see a grumpy Liam still glaring at him.

Liam harboured a huge sense of resentment towards Alec due to the way he had lost.

Technically, Alec had never even defeated him one-on-one, but Alec had still ended up taking the win.

And winning was the main goal of all the teams, but Liam was furious that Alec had countered the trap set for him and ended up trapping him the very person who came up with the trap set up to win.

Unable to liberate himself from the time pause trap, Liam had inadvertently given Alec the advantage to win easily, such humiliation made him mad every time he thought about it .

Despite this, many die-hard fans of the Royal Mage Academy insisted that in a real fight against Liam, Alec would eventually be beaten to a pulp by Liam.

They believed wholeheartedly that Alec’s victory was a fluke, as he had used a underhanded method.

.

But they conveniently forgot who had first resorted to such methods, probably because they were still reeling from the fact that their team had fallen off their pedestal as one of the Great 8 this year, this loss meant they couldn’t brag about their status anymore.

But no matter what the crowd thought at this moment, Liam felt an overwhelming urge to kill Alec, though he was doing his utmost to conceal his intent.

Liam was one of the few royals chosen for a secret mission, but to be included, he had to reach the final round of the competition.

This was why his elimination stung so deeply.

Alec noticed Liam’s deadly gaze and smiled back at him, while others might have missed the concealed killing intent, Alec certainly did not.

After all, Alec was accustomed to the blood killing intent created by the Bloody Changdao.

So for someone like Liam, who hadn’t killed as much as Alec or even developed a proper killing intent, masking his malicious intent in front of Alec was mere child’s play, Alec could always detect it as long as it was directed at him.
