The Golem Mage

Endrick, Agnes, and Beatrice settled into their assigned seats among the seat reserved for teams participating in the competition, however, their surprise was palpable when they laid eyes on their coordinator, Selene, seated in the VIP section with Selena beside her.

”What do you think she’s planning by coming here without informing us?, It’s unbelievable that she made us believe she was simply going out,” Agnes questioned, squinting as she stared at Selene and her sister, but Beatrice was not even bothered to think with her head and Endrick seems not to care.

”So, tell me, did you actually come here to watch real geniuses fight?” Selena turned to Selene, her sister, and asked, in which Selene responded with a smile.

”I came to see if the younger generations of the Battle Mage Academy are as impressive as rumours say, I just hope they don’t disappoint me because I’ve already bet on them to win,” Selene stated confidently, as Selena scoffed, shaking her head.

”You still haven’t let go of your bad behaviour,” she retorted before sharing her own thoughts.

”Well, no need to worry, if the Royal Academy isn’t foolish, they should give up once the match starts, as i highly doubt they would want to risk injuring their star team right at the beginning of the competition,” Selena analysed, gaining a nod of agreement from Selene.

”I was hoping to get a glimpse of the seeded teams in action, but it seems I will be disappointed,” Selene commented, boredom creeping into her expression as she stared into the distance.

It was clear to her that since two of the previous ”Great Eight” academies were pitted against each other in the opening stages, one of them would have to step back and go through the arduous journey of winning the loser bracket to strive for a spot in the top eight once more.

Despite her disappointment, Selene truly wished the teams would take the match seriously and fight with all their might, as it would allow her to assess their skills and combat prowess, enabling her to develop countermeasures against the strategies the War God Academy team might employ when they faced them, However, with how things were unfolding, she began to consider that maybe she would have to leave everything to Alec after all.

”Now, for the first match of the day, we have two formidable teams that made it into the top 8 last year, today, they will face off in the first round, let’s give a round of applause for Battle Mage Academy versus the Royal Mage Academy!” The referee with fiery red hair introduced the participating academies.

As a resounding shockwave swept through the crowd as they erupted with cheers, passionately calling out the names of the teams they were rooting for.

However, it was clear that the Royal Mage Academy had a larger fan base, enjoying the advantage of being on home ground, the loyal locals were biased towards their academy, considering them the best.

Nevertheless, the mages from the Battle Mage Academy seemed unfazed by this as they strode confidently through the walk hall into the battle ring of the Colosseum.

Led by their captain, Vincent Whitefang, one of the top-ranked young talents among the academies, they marched forward, each carrying a weapon, Vincent, with his imposing figure, dragged a colossal great sword behind him.

But before the referee could proceed to introduce the members of both teams, the captain of the Royal Mage Academy stepped out from the left side, holding a white flag, as the crowd caught sight of him, a sudden hush fell over the arena.

”We forfeit this match!” announced the captain of the Royal Mage Academy as he struck the flag on the ground, he possessed long, blonde hair and was dressed in noble attire, emanating an air of elegance.

Unfazed by the captain’s declaration, the referee simply swiped his hand towards the right corner.

”And the winner of Match three is the Battle Mage Academy by default!” With that announcement, the entire crowd erupted in boos and disappointment.

They had anticipated an intense battle, only to learn that no such duel would take place, their behaviour was Sue to the amount of magic Crystal they have paid to witness the match.

Vincent locked eyes with the captain of the Royal Mage Academy, sneering in contempt, as he then turned and walked away, his team following behind him, but the captain remained unfazed, showing no signs of offense caused by Vincent’s gaze.

In fact, he firmly believed that if a fight were to occur, he would emerge victorious, however, he was always bound to follow the orders of his coordinator.

And at the moment, his coordinator mentioned that the entire Royal Mage team would have no chance of winning against the Battle Mage in a team battle.

Their only hope, for now, was to wait for the second round, which would change the game system and potentially give them an advantage, with that, the referee swiftly began introducing the second match of the day and the participating academy.

Alec was sent hurtling through the air, but he quickly extended his hand, as a long, red tentacle wrapped around his hand, enabling him to swing back onto a nearby tree, taking advantage of this, he executed a swift counterattack by smashing his knees into the face of the Alpha Shadow Wolf that was lunging towards him mid-air.

Rolling off the ground, Alec extended his hand once again, causing the red tentacles to wrap around his Blood Changdao that lay on the ground.

As he tugged the tentacle, it quickly retracted the weapon back into his hand, while attaching itself to his back like a cloak.

Now, Alec and the Alpha Shadow Wolf circled each other cautiously, the rest of Alec’s golems faced off against the wolf pack, leaving Alec alone to deal with the Alpha.

Considering the fact that Alec was not evenly matched with the Alpha, it proved to be quite the challenge to outsmart the powerful creature solely with his wits, without wasting any time, the Alpha lunged at Alec.

In an instant, Alec made a move, only to witness the shadow beneath the ground enveloping the Alpha figure.

”F*ck?”

Alec cursed, his left hand gripping his bone katana in a reverse grip as he attempted to deflect the attack from behind.

However, instead of striking flesh and bone, Alec felt his weapon cut through nothing but a flimsy shadow, it was then that Alec realized he had been deceived.

The Alpha had not entered the shadows to sneak up on him from behind, Instead, it had manipulated its shadow element, hoping Alec would take the bait and react accordingly, unfortunately, Alec fell right into the trap.

And now, Alec was about to face the consequences of his actions, as the Alpha’s claws struck him with a powerful blow, sending him crashing through three towering trees, Alec swiftly picked himself up, rolling to the side in a bid to evade further attacks.

Bang!

The spot he had just vacated was obliterated by a dark bomb unleashed from the Alpha wolf’s mouth.

While this Alpha shadow wolf may not possess the same cunning as the one Alec had faced before, there was no denying its enhanced execution ability.

Unlike its predecessor, this Alpha utilized its skills with greater finesse.

The Blood killing intent cloak dissolved, as they wrapped around Alec’s wounds, initiating a slow healing process, this was the power of the blood-killing intent linked with his Changdao.

Thanks to the connection between the blood-killing intent and the Blood Changdao, Alec could harness the drained blood within the sword to heal himself.

With each life form drained, the sword absorbed about 70% of their essence for self-repair, while the remaining 30% powered up the weapon.

This was one of the features that unlocked when Alec upgraded the weapon to a Mid Tier level.

Additionally, since the blood-killing intent was linked to the blade, Alec could tap into the residual blood saved up in the sword, by utilizing the intent as a medium, he could unleash a lesser regenerative skill.

All of this became possible through Alec’s perseverance in exploring unfamiliar skills he didn’t use within the Amulet world, the more he familiarized himself with these abilities and skills , the better he became at executing them.

And due to this skills levelling up, Alec transformed into a more lethal combat Mage, with determination in his eyes, Alec declared,

”It’s time to see what my bloodline can do.” He had resolved to test a new skill he had recently learned through his connection with his bloodline, as it seems nothing else would be able to make him defeat the Alpha shadow wolf.
