Forced Pampering: Haughty Husband, Please Restrain Yourself

Chapter 931: Chapter 941: I’ll Go With You

”How old is your grandmother?” Teacher Wang asked again.

”She is exactly 70 this year. Doctor, can I trouble you to go and check on my grandmother? She seems to be in a lot of pain. Please, I beg you. Our home is not far, just in the neighboring village.”

Hearing the boy’s words, Teacher Wang was slightly taken aback and glanced outside the yard.

By this time, the sky had completely darkened. The night in the mountains was very dark, and since it was the end of the month, there wasn’t even moonlight.

”Child, your grandmother’s condition is not serious. We’ll start the free clinic tomorrow. Tomorrow morning, you can bring your grandmother here for a check-up. We can see her first. How does that sound?”

”But... but my grandmother looks like she’s in real pain. I’m afraid...” The thirteen or fourteen-year-old boy, upon hearing Teacher Wang’s refusal, began to cry.

”Doctor, I beg you. Our home is really not far, just on the hillside of that mountain ahead.”

Wang Jiaqi glanced again at the distant, dark mountains that resembled a fierce beast and coughed lightly, ”Students, who would like to go with this child?”

Changsheng’s eyes, filled with tears, looked at the others, but those who met the boy’s fervent gaze flinched and quickly turned their heads toward other directions.

Hu Dajun also knew that Changsheng’s request was difficult for these city kids. When they first arrived, several of them complained about walking a full day in the mountains and were almost exhausted.

Now that the night was so dark, asking them to walk the mountain paths again was daunting, not just for these pampered university students from the city, but even for him.

So he stepped forward to mediate, ”Changsheng, if Doctor Wang says your grandmother isn’t in serious trouble, it should be fine. Just come early tomorrow with your grandmother. Didn’t Teacher Wang say that she would check on her first?”

”Uncle Hu...” Changsheng looked at Hu Dajun, called out in a trembling voice, and finally nodded. He knew nobody wanted to accompany him on a night journey to treat his grandmother.

”I’ll go with you,” An Ran suddenly stood and said. Hearing the boy’s description, it seemed his grandmother might have a minor heart attack.

According to his description, his grandmother’s condition was worsening. If delayed for another night, it might become irreversible.

Upon hearing that someone was willing to accompany him to see his grandmother, a bright light shone in Changsheng’s eyes. He bowed deeply to An Ran, ”Thank you, Sister. Thank you.”

”Ha, pretty big talk there. What good will a first-year student like you do?” Cai Fen snorted coldly, not loud but enough for everyone present to hear.

”Cai Fen, if you think so little of us first-years, how about you go instead?” Zhu Pengfei retorted sarcastically.

”I... how can I go?” Cai Fen felt a bit guilty but quickly steadied herself, assuming an arrogant posture. ”I’m a key player in the free clinic. If I go tonight, it will delay the clinic’s progress tomorrow.”

”Tch, as if the free clinic can’t go on without you. Who do you think you are?” Zhu Pengfei shot back unceremoniously.

”You...” Cai Fen was so angry her face turned red, unable to utter a single word.

Wang Jiaqi stood up at this moment and said, ”Zhu Pengfei, Cai Fen is excellent in her professional courses at school and also very competent in clinical practice. She is a role model for you to learn from. Our Star Fire plan is truly enhanced with Cai Fen. As a junior, you should learn more from your seniors instead of underestimating yourself like some people.”
