Forced Pampering: Haughty Husband, Please Restrain Yourself

Chapter 796: Chapter 809: Indeed Stood Up

An Ran didn’t expect that Grandpa Shen would come to see her, feeling slightly embarrassed amidst her surprise, ”I just went to the villa, Grandpa Shen. I should be the one visiting you. How can I let you come to see me?”

Grandpa Shen waved his hand, ”There’s no need for such formalities between us. I heard that the engagement ceremony was canceled. Grandpa has been worried, so I came to see you. Ran, Xingfeng is a good child, very responsible. Because of his strong sense of responsibility, he chose the country over the family when the interests conflicted. Don’t worry, when he comes back, Grandpa Shen will stand up for you and make sure the Mu Family prepares an even grander engagement ceremony for you.”

Being from the Guard Team, Grandpa Shen naturally understood the priorities when it came to the country. The heartfelt conversation he had with Old Mr. Mu earlier was not something convenient to bring up again in front of An Ran.

An Ran still had to be a part of the Guard Team family. No matter how personal his thoughts were, he couldn’t let the children’ future be jeopardized.

”Grandpa Shen, are you serious about this?” An Ran approached Grandma Mu, hugged her arm, and looked at Grandpa Shen with a question.

”Of course, Grandpa Shen always keeps his word,” Grandpa Shen assured.

Receiving the affirmative answer, An Ran turned her head to look at Grandma Mu, a sly glint in her eyes, ”Grandma, Grandpa also made me this promise in the morning, and now Grandpa Shen promises too. Grandma, please remember this. If Xingfeng disappears again for a mission during the next engagement ceremony, you must bring him to the ceremony for me.”

In the morning, when Old Mr. Mu and Grandma Mu heard that she wanted to cancel the engagement ceremony, they told her something similar. Now that Grandpa Shen had come to say the same, she knew that Old Mr. Mu, Grandma Mu, and Grandpa Shen really cared for her.

If she said anything indifferent now, it would seem hypocritical.

Sure enough, upon hearing An Ran’s words, Grandma Mu laughed heartily, patting her hand, ”You, child, do you think Grandpa and Grandma would break their word? Alright, it’s up to you. Next time, if Xingfeng dares to disappear again, let your Grandpa and Grandpa Shen grab him personally.”

On the 29th, Mu Xingfeng indeed didn’t show up.

His phone was still turned off, and there was no news from the Guard Team, as if he had vanished from the face of the earth.

Although Lin Junyang and the Mu Family had told her multiple times that Mu Xingfeng always did this during missions, An Ran still felt uneasy.

Others might not understand, but she knew well how much Mu Xingfeng had been looking forward to this engagement.

From her initial disapproval to hearing him planning every detail little by little, to their final mutual anticipation.

This was the first time since they met and fell in love that she would appear in the entire Imperial City circle as Mrs. Mu. It was a day he was proud and fulfilled.

But on such an important day, a day he had long awaited, he didn’t show up.

Inside the house, An Ran looked at the rose-red dress on the hanger. Her elder sister told her that this dress was personally designed by Mu Xingfeng.

Despite his heavy training schedule, he found the time to design this dress for her without revealing even the slightest hint to her, wanting to surprise her.

But on such a significant day, one he held so dearly, he didn’t show up. What could have happened? An Ran was afraid to think further.

The engagement ceremony didn’t truly matter; she only wished for his safe return.

”Knock, knock,” the door was knocked on, and He Yushu entered the room.
