Forced Pampering: Haughty Husband, Please Restrain Yourself

Chapter 793: Chapter 806 Cancel the Engagement Ceremony

After dinner, it was already past nine when they returned to the Mu Family. Both Grandma Mu and Old Mr. Mu were getting on in years and had gone to bed early. In the living room, He Yushu and Mu Zhenzong were still watching TV.

Hearing the three return, He Yushu turned her head and asked, ”Did you all eat well? Should I ask the servants to prepare a little supper for you?”

”No need, Aunt He, we ate quite a lot,” An Ran replied, but she couldn’t help but ask, ”Any news about Xingfeng today?”

He Yushu had already stood up and walked over to grab An Ran’s hand, ”Come here, child, your Uncle Mu and I have something to discuss with you.”

With a knowing look, Xiao Xiao pointed upstairs, ”Ranran, I’ll head up first. Good night, Uncle, Auntie.”

Watching Xiao Xiao run up the stairs, An Ran, with a tense expression, looked at He Yushu and Mu Zhenzong and asked, ”Did something happen to Xingfeng?”

”Don’t overthink it, child, there’s no news about Xingfeng yet,” He Yushu hurriedly reassured, realizing that An Ran had misunderstood. ”Precisely because there’s no news, your Uncle Mu and I want to discuss the engagement party the day after tomorrow with you.”

He Yushu pulled An Ran to sit down. Mu Zhenzong then spoke, ”Even though Xingfeng’s mission this time was sudden, we didn’t consider it thoroughly. The Guard Team’s work has many uncertainties. But the invitations were already sent out. Your Aunt and I thought for a long time whether to cancel the engagement or go forward with it. Perhaps Xingfeng might come back at the last minute, but if he doesn’t, it will cause you even greater embarrassment. So, we decided to hear your thoughts.”

”Yes, Ran, it’s our fault this time, making you feel wronged,” He Yushu gently patted An Ran’s shoulder, sighing.

Upon learning that there was no news from Mu Xingfeng, An Ran felt relieved. Seeing the worried looks of the elders earlier, she had thought there might be bad news from the Guard Team.

If it was only about the engagement party, An Ran didn’t mind.

”Aunt He, Uncle Mu, let’s cancel the engagement party. Even if Xingfeng rushes back tomorrow, he must be exhausted from the mission. I don’t want him to be tired, having no rest before worrying about the engagement. It’s just a formality; I don’t mind. We actually discussed it early on, Xingfeng and I, about having a private wedding. I’m still in school, and his job is special. Making our relationship public might not be good for his work. We can have the wedding after I graduate, and there’s no rush.”

”Ran, how can you be so silly?” Mu Wanxin, who had been sitting beside them, couldn’t help but feel injustice for An Ran. Even as a member of the Mu Family, she felt for An Ran.

”So what if Xingfeng’s job is special? Does our Mu Family lack the power to protect you? You and Xingfeng are already married; this engagement party is something he owes you.”

As a girl, she understood exactly what a fantasy engagement and wedding meant when given by the one she loved. Her beloved had given her an unforgettable engagement party, and now they were soon to have a cherished wedding. Seeing An Ran’s situation, she felt it was unfair.

Mu Zhenzong and He Yushu were also touched by An Ran’s thoughtfulness. They had worried about if their son couldn’t come back in time, whether the young girl would be upset, hold a grudge against the Mu Family, or quarrel with Xingfeng for days. Up until a moment ago, they hadn’t even known how to broach the subject with An Ran.
