Peerless Medical Emperor

”So doppelgängers really do exist. To think you look exactly like me... but I’m afraid I’ll have to disappoint you. My name isn’t Ye Shiqi. It’s Karen—Karen, the assassin ranked fifteenth on the Dark List!”

At that moment, everyone couldn’t help but compare the two sisters.

It was easy to tell them apart now. One was gentle and graceful, while the other was savage and brutal, covered in blood.

Chen Qingdi frowned.

’Ye Shi Yi, Ye Shiqi... their names are so similar. No wonder!’

He asked in a low voice, ”Why kill someone in the middle of the street?”

Ye Shiqi snorted. ”His shop was a dirty business, and he used his position to prey on one of my sisters, driving her to jump off a building to her death. I went after him to get revenge for her!”

Chen Qingdi was not satisfied with this explanation.

”If you had a problem, you could have reported it to the authorities. Why use such a brutal method? Why reveal your face and frame my sister?”

Ye Shiqi fell silent, only speaking after a long moment.

”I didn’t know I had a twin sister. And I had no reason to harm her! I was following the Sect Leader’s orders to return to the building for a mission! If that bar owner hadn’t gotten greedy when he saw me and tried to take advantage, I wouldn’t have killed him on the street.”

Chen Qingdi made a call to the War God, Long Xiaotian.

After Chen Qingdi explained the situation, Long Xiaotian immediately made a call. Not long after, a video file was sent to Chen Qingdi’s cloud storage.

It was surveillance footage from the hotel where the incident occurred, and it provided the ultimate answer.

”Huang Han, the victim of the recent homicide, used his position to assault numerous girls...”

The man named Huang Han indeed had a sordid history. Even if Ye Shiqi hadn’t killed him, Chen Qingdi would have made sure he wouldn’t get away with it if he had gotten his hands on the evidence.

Ye Shiqi stood up and said to Chen Qingdi.

”Now that it’s been proven I’m not some cold-blooded killer who slaughters the innocent, you can consider me cleared, right? Can you let me go now?”

Mrs. Wen was extremely emotional. ”Shiqi, my poor daughter, do you really want to leave?”

Ye Shiqi’s expression immediately darkened.

”I told you, my name is Karen, and I grew up in Maple Country! Even though I have the same face as the woman next to you, I am definitely not some ’Ye Shiqi.’ I’m not your daughter, and I don’t want to be!”

Chen Qingdi’s face grew stern. ”Talk. What is your relationship with the Evil God Sect?”

Ye Shiqi knew she was no match for Chen Qingdi. With no secrets left to hide from him, she decided to be direct.

”I’m an assassin trained by the Evil God Sect. I’ve killed many people, but aside from that bar owner, the rest were all foreigners, and they all deserved it! I haven’t committed any crimes in Dragon Country!”

Seizing a moment when Chen Qingdi was distracted, she lunged forward and grabbed Mrs. Wen, holding her hostage.

”If you don’t want this old woman to die, you’d better stay away from me! Otherwise, blades don’t have eyes. Don’t blame me for what happens!”

Chen Qingdi sneered. ”Do you really want to commit matricide?”

A change flickered in Ye Shiqi’s eyes, and the knife in her hand involuntarily moved away from Mrs. Wen’s throat.

”I don’t want to kill anyone here, but don’t force me to stay!”

Chen Qingdi said, ”I have one last question for you. Answer it, and you can leave immediately. I won’t stop you.”

Ye Shiqi hesitated, still unable to bring herself to harm Mrs. Wen.

”Ask, but keep it brief.”

”You broke into our villa overnight to commit a murder. Did you already know who I was?”

Ye Shiqi shook her head.

”I wasn’t assigned this mission when I came to Dragon Country. It was only after you stopped me at the bar that I looked up your information. I just came to eliminate a future threat.”

Chen Qingdi nodded.

”I have no more questions. Let Mrs. Wen go, and I’ll let you leave. But if you actually dare to do something so monstrous, I won’t be merciful!”

Evidently wary of Chen Qingdi’s invisible Fist Technique that could injure without a trace, Ye Shiqi finally withdrew her knife and pushed Mrs. Wen into his arms.

As Chen Qingdi caught Mrs. Wen, Ye Shiqi moved swiftly to the balcony, slipped through the bent steel bars of the railing, and climbed down the building.

Even though Chen Qingdi had rescued her, Mrs. Wen was in low spirits, sitting on the sofa without a word.

Chen Qingdi comforted her from the side, ”I will get to the bottom of this. I won’t let Ye Shiqi wander outside for long. I’ll definitely convince her to come back!”

Mrs. Wen’s spirits were low. ”But she killed someone!”

Chen Qingdi shook his head. ”As long as that bar owner truly deserved it and provoked her first, there’s still some leeway! It doesn’t necessarily have to be a death sentence!”

Shortly after, another visitor arrived—a female investigator. She introduced herself as Second-Level Inspector Yang Shuhua and got straight to the point.

”Ms. Wen Jingru, our files say you have two daughters—twin sisters—and that one of them went missing a long time ago. We suspect the person who committed the murder at the bar is your younger daughter, Ye Shiqi! Oh, but she should now be known as Karen, a rather high-ranking assassin on the list!”

Everyone present was stunned.

”How did you know?”

Yang Shuhua glanced at Chen Qingdi.

”When it comes to controlling the ’board,’ you’re no match for me! I now suspect you of colluding with the assassin. Mr. Chen Qingdi and Ms. Wen Jingru, you’re coming with me!”

Chen Qingdi smiled. ”We are law-abiding citizens who have never done such things. If you want to do something, you’ll need to show some evidence!”

Yang Shuhua’s expression turned cold. ”The evidence will come soon enough. For now, you must come with us!”

Chen Qingdi said very calmly, ”The case of the missing child from back then should be on file. It remains unsolved to this day. This is a matter of your department’s inefficiency. You can’t blame us, the victims, for it!”

Hearing this, Yang Shuhua looked a bit embarrassed.

”Well, there’s been some progress on the case now!”

Chen Qingdi raised an eyebrow. ”Let me ask you, who exactly stole the child back then? How many accomplices were there? Have they been caught? How were they sentenced?”

Faced with Chen Qingdi’s barrage of questions, Yang Shuhua’s face flushed red.

”Uh, there’s no result on that. We only reached our conclusion by comparing the female assassin’s appearance with Ms. Ye Shi Yi’s! Besides, the statute of limitations on that infant abduction case has already expired...”

Chen Qingdi sneered. ”If it weren’t for your inefficiency, this homicide probably never would have happened. You were passive in handling the original case, and now that there’s a problem, you come to punish us, the victims? I demand an explanation from you!”

Yang Shuhua fell silent. She walked over to the scene of the earlier struggle and suddenly noticed shoe prints on the windowsill and signs that the security bars had been bent. Her expression turned extremely ugly.

”The female assassin was here. And you concealed the fact that she was here. Talk. What kind of deal did you make with her?”

Chen Qingdi sneered. ”She came here to kill, I stopped her, and when she saw things were going badly, she fled!”
