Peerless Medical Emperor

The two words that slipped from Ye Shi Yi’s mouth instantly put the mother and daughter on high alert.

Just then, Mrs. Wen, who had already finished cooking, came out.

”Ye Shi Yi has been home with me the whole time. After dinner, she was reading a book in the living room. If you don’t believe me, you can check the Kan Jiabao security system in the living room!”

Fearing they wouldn’t be believed, Chen Qingdi pulled up the Kan Jiabao video footage from that period. The mother and daughter were not lying.

However, as Chen Qingdi took out his phone, he was stunned by a push notification.

”Female Assassin Appears in Bar, Brutally Stabs Victim Six Times and Slits Throat!”

There were even some photos snapped by reporters that showed the female assassin’s face.

The group looked at Ye Shi Yi, then at the female assassin in the photo. It was unbelievable—they were practically identical.

The only difference was in their eyes!

Being the gentle, domestic person she was, Ye Shi Yi had always been soft and kind, whereas the female assassin radiated ferocity and violence!

Just then, Chen Qingdi’s phone began ringing off the hook. He looked at the screen and saw it was a call from Shen Mingyue.

”Mingyue, what’s wrong?”

”Ye Shi Yi is still at your place, right? Why did she kill someone?”

Chen Qingdi quickly explained, ”She’s not that kind of person. She doesn’t even know any martial arts! Someone is deliberately impersonating her to frame her!”

Shen Mingyue gave a bitter laugh.

”I may believe your explanation, but others won’t. Trouble is probably heading your way right now. Do you need my help?”

Chen Qingdi reassured her, ”She has an alibi. We have concrete evidence to prove her innocence.”

Just as Shen Mingyue had predicted, not even ten minutes had passed before Steward Li arrived at Chen Qingdi’s villa with investigators from the bureau.

”Ye Shi Yi, you are a suspect in a public homicide case. You must come with us for questioning!”

Chen Qingdi stood up and said, ”We saw the news report, but she’s being framed. She has an alibi!”

Chen Qingdi opened the Kan Jiabao terminal, which was linked to his phone’s cloud storage.

In the living room.

The footage showed Ye Shi Yi humming a little tune while doing housework. After she finished, she made herself a cup of instant coffee and then sat down with a book.

At one point, she faced the Kan Jiabao camera directly. The time she spent reading was precisely when the murder occurred.

The video was a simple recording from the Kan Jiabao system; there was no sign of editing or forgery.

The investigators immediately identified it as an original, authentic video and apologized to Chen Qingdi.

”Since she can prove her innocence, we won’t file a case. The person who impersonated her to commit this crime must harbor strong malice toward you all. Please be careful, and report any clues you find to us immediately!”

Chen Qingdi thanked the investigators, respectfully saw them out, and promised to contact them immediately if he found any leads.

To prevent anyone from ambushing Ye Shi Yi if she went out, Chen Qingdi told her not to leave for the time being. This way, they could watch out for each other if danger arose at home.

The entire afternoon passed safely.

By dinnertime, the outside world was still quiet. There were no interrogating phone calls, nor did any visitors drop by.

After dinner, Chen Qingdi practiced his cultivation for a while before resting in his room.

He had just closed his eyes when he suddenly heard a rustling sound from the balcony. Someone was climbing up and using their bare hands to bend the steel bars of the security window.

Using his night vision, Chen Qingdi realized it was the female assassin from the news report.

So as not to alert her, he feigned deep sleep.

The female assassin bent the outer security bars open and stepped onto the balcony. Then she approached the window to Chen Qingdi’s bedroom.

Since they lived on the second floor, they didn’t always keep the windows closed. The female assassin swiftly leaped into Chen Qingdi’s room.

She drew a dagger and lunged for Chen Qingdi’s throat. But Chen Qingdi, already prepared, swiftly grabbed her wrist. Using a bone-shattering technique, he snapped it with a loud CRACK.

The woman’s dagger clattered to the floor as she grunted in pain.

She turned to flee, but Chen Qingdi wasn’t about to let her go. He threw a punch from a distance, and the force of the blow struck the back of her knee.

The female assassin cried out and collapsed. Chen Qingdi leaped up and planted his foot on her back.

Just then, the door to Chen Qingdi’s room was pushed open and the lights flicked on. Ye Shi Yi, Mrs. Wen, Lin Zhongxue, and Lin Qingmeng all appeared in his bedroom.

They suddenly noticed the female assassin pinned under Chen Qingdi’s foot. ”You actually caught her?”

The female assassin stared back fiercely. ”I never planned on making it back alive when I started this mission. If you’re going to kill me, then kill me. Stop wasting your breath!”

This was the first time the female assassin had spoken since they met. To everyone’s astonishment, her voice was identical to Ye Shi Yi’s!

But Chen Qingdi felt no sympathy for the female assassin. He sneered.

”You vicious murderer. Not only do you kill people, but you dare to impersonate my friend. If I let you escape today, there would be no justice in this world. Now, die!”

He grabbed the fallen dagger and was about to strike when he heard Mrs. Wen cry out, ”Don’t kill her!”

Chen Qingdi looked at Mrs. Wen in disbelief. ”You know this assassin?”

’A pang of sadness hit him. The ever-gentle and kind Mrs. Wen... was she also someone who wanted to move against him?’

’Why would she hire a female assassin? Have I not been good to her?’

Mrs. Wen quickly explained, ”Qingdi, it’s not what you think! I’ve never hired anyone to kill someone. I just want to tell you... back then, I actually gave birth to twins. But due to our carelessness, the younger twin suddenly went missing. We searched for ten years and never found her. We thought she was dead... I never imagined she would appear here!”

Chen Qingdi was also stunned. ”You’re saying this female assassin is also your daughter?”

Seeing everyone’s incredulous expressions, Mrs. Wen explained.

”Mr. Ye and I had a pair of twins. The older one is Ye Shi Yi, and the younger one is named Ye Shiqi. But when the twin sisters were two years old, we carelessly lost Ye Shiqi!”

Hearing this, Chen Qingdi knew he could no longer punish the female assassin. He took his foot off her back but made no move to help her up.

The female assassin got up from the floor. Just as she was about to retreat the way she came, she found Chen Qingdi blocking her path.

”You’re not going anywhere until this is all cleared up!”

The female assassin raised her head and looked at the woman standing nearby—a woman with the exact same face as her own. She, too, was stunned.
