Reincarnation Paradise Park

Chapter 1398: Chapter 20: Wild

The golden light particles in the room went out, as if the Goddess of Luck had never been here.

Su Xiao’s mouth opened and closed, but he stayed silent for a long time. There was one thing he was really curious about: how was that Skill Scroll going to be accounted for?

He’d gotten the Goddess’s Affection Skill Scroll by killing an enemy Contractor, and now that he’d used it, not only had he failed to get the Goddess’s Affection, the moment the goddess saw him she acted like she’d seen a ghost and bolted on the spot.

Su Xiao was indeed a bit curious what the previous generation Shadow of Annihilation Law had done to the Goddess of Luck, but what was more pressing right now was: was that Skill Scroll of his just written off like this? All he got for it was a single look at the Goddess of Luck wrapped in Holy Light?

”Doesn’t seem like I got any affection.”

Su Xiao rubbed his temples. Just seeing the speed at which the Goddess of Luck ran told him clearly how terrified she was of the Shadow of Annihilation Law.

With a boom, black Chains appeared out of nowhere, stabbing through space like they were dragging something back.

”Let go of me, I don’t want to go over there!!”

Whoosh～

Ripples spread through the space in front of Su Xiao. The Goddess of Luck, body lit by Holy Light, was bound in black Chains. She was struggling with all her might, but she couldn’t break free.

Just from the name you could tell the Goddess of Luck was obviously not some combat powerhouse. Who knew what dimensional level of god she was—she’d not only been beaten up by the Shadow of Annihilation Law in the past, now she was being forcibly dragged out by Reincarnation Paradise.

Su Xiao had obtained the ’Goddess’s Affection’ Scroll, and in Reincarnation Paradise’s judgment, the Goddess’s Affection Scroll was a notarized item; after use, it was impossible for it to have no effect at all.

The current situation was that the Goddess’s Affection Scroll had summoned the Goddess of Luck, but she wasn’t planning to give Su Xiao any blessing or similar effect at all. That amounted to violating Reincarnation Paradise’s regulations, so Reincarnation Paradise had intervened.

The black Chains dispersed. Floating in midair, the Goddess of Luck stomped her foot in anger. She subconsciously backed up a few steps while turning her gaze toward Su Xiao.

”Ara ara～”

The Goddess of Luck, with her head full of lustrous white long hair, covered her mouth and chuckled lightly.

”Look what I found, a wild Shadow of Annihilation Law that hasn’t even grown up yet.”

The Goddess of Luck’s golden eyes looked at Su Xiao. Perhaps recalling that shameful display just now, her expression gradually turned serious.

”Mortal.”

The Goddess of Luck slightly lifted her fair chin, feeling ecstatic inside. Looking down on the Shadow of Annihilation Law was something she’d only ever dared to imagine, never to actually do.

Su Xiao lit a cigarette and calmly eyed the completely naked woman floating in midair. He really couldn’t figure out why this woman chose to appear dressed like this; those rays of Holy Light were obviously something she’d put on herself.

That’s right—in Su Xiao’s eyes, the Goddess of Luck had just dropped straight from godhood down to some unknown-tier female lifeform with a fetish for being naked.

Head tilted high, the Goddess of Luck sneaked a glance at Su Xiao. Confirming that he wouldn’t suddenly rush up and beat her, her confidence rose considerably.

”Looks like you can’t kill me. Or rather, Paradise won’t allow something like that to happen.”

Su Xiao stood up barefoot from the bed and drew the Long Knife at his waist. If the Goddess of Luck truly had some vendetta with the Shadow of Annihilation Law, then the moment she sensed his true strength, she should have immediately taken action.

Judging from her expression, she clearly wasn’t planning to make a move, and was instead snarkily teasing Su Xiao.

In that case, Su Xiao was going to test whether he could use improper means to squeeze some benefits out of the Goddess of Luck. For example, cutting her down? If his Luck wasn’t good, would chopping the Goddess of Luck improve his fortune?

Blue steel shadow energy surged along Dragon Slash. The moment she saw that energy which had appeared countless times in her nightmares, the sly grin on the Goddess of Luck’s face gradually disappeared.

”You Shadows of Annihilation Law only ever think about chopping people, don’t you.”

Seeing that Su Xiao had already drawn his blade, the Goddess of Luck gritted her teeth in anger. Golden light flickered in her gemstone-like eyes.

Just then, Su Xiao received a prompt.

[Prompt: Hunter Luck Attribute -50 points.]

[Foreign Rule Power detected attempting to interfere with Hunter’s personal status. Repairing...]

[Hunter Luck Attribute has been restored. Luck has been restored.]

With a crisp crack, a few strands of the Goddess of Luck’s hair burst apart.

Su Xiao’s gaze swept the surroundings. For that split second just now, he’d had the illusion of being shut out of the world itself. That feeling was like even breathing might cause oxygen poisoning.

The Goddess of Luck stared at Su Xiao, her eyes clearly saying: ”I’m not easy to mess with. Don’t you come over here.”

Su Xiao sheathed the Long Knife and sat cross-legged back on the bed.

”What’s this? You voluntarily gave up that sort of Ability?”

The Goddess of Luck looked at Su Xiao with a half-smile, like teasing him was something she thoroughly enjoyed.

”Yeah, I gave it up.”

Su Xiao closed his eyes and entered meditation. Hearing this, the Goddess of Luck looked even more delighted.

”If I don’t die on the road to getting stronger, I’ll come find you in the future.”

Su Xiao had basically figured out the Goddess of Luck’s personality. She was clearly not a ”true” god in the classic sense, but rather some girl of unknown age with her own preferences and a bit of a trashy personality.

”Eh～”

The Goddess of Luck sensed something was off, and the traumatic memories surged up: a short-haired black‑haired woman wearing Metal Combat Boots had stripped her naked, hung her up, and kicked her like a sandbag...

Su Xiao stopped paying attention to this so‑called Goddess of Luck. Thanks to the previous generation Shadow of Annihilation Law, the two sides started off hostile. As for whether this woman would affect his future Luck, Su Xiao wasn’t worried at all. Reincarnation Paradise wasn’t for show; how could it possibly allow her to meddle in internal Paradise matters.

Since the Goddess of Luck currently posed no threat to Su Xiao, he had no intention of wasting more words on her. With his negotiation skills, reconciling the two sides’ grudge was basically impossible anyway.

Su Xiao’s decision was to pretend he’d never seen the Goddess of Luck. Once his strength was great enough, he’d bring his knife and settle accounts with this woman.

”You’re planning... to get stronger and then take revenge on me?”

The Goddess of Luck’s fair finger first pointed at Su Xiao, then at herself.

”Exactly what it sounds like.”

Su Xiao had already begun meditating. In his Perception, the Goddess of Luck floating in midair was some kind of high-dimensional lifeform.

”...”

The Goddess of Luck fell silent. If it had been anyone else saying that, she’d absolutely scoff. But coming from a Shadow of Annihilation Law... well, that... really wasn’t guaranteed～

”Uh～”

The Goddess of Luck drifted to hover in front of Su Xiao.

”You’re a wild one, right?”

”...”

Su Xiao’s cheek twitched. If he weren’t currently unable to do anything to this woman, he absolutely would have cut her down.

”The era of the Annihilators is over. The Shadows of Annihilation Law should’ve been wiped out completely. Last time I went traveling in the Void, all I heard about was a Demon Blade—no word of any Annihilators active in the Void. So that means you’re wild-born, right.”

The Goddess of Luck extended her fair palm and made a grasping motion. Something in the surroundings was caught in her hand, and Su Xiao’s meditation was forcibly cut off.

”And so?”

Su Xiao opened his eyes, still not quite sure what this woman was trying to do—just keep pestering him?

”So let’s call a truce. I, as a person—uh, no, I’m already a ’god’—I, this god, am very easy to talk to. I have zero interest in the grudge between you Shadows of Annihilation Law and the Spellcasters. As long as it doesn’t drag me in, I’m fine. I’ll give you what you want, and from today on, you absolutely cannot come harass me.”

”Deal.”

Su Xiao had no personal grudge with the Goddess of Luck; he’d basically been hit by a stray bullet. As for whether he’d go looking for her in the future, that remained to be seen. His Luck was lousy, and she did seem capable of helping him turn it around.
