Chapter 1371: Chapter 82: The ”Courting Death” Enhancement Magic

The equipment enhancement machine roared continuously, and occasionally, lightning flared from its gaps.

Su Xiao’s heartbeat grew faster and faster; success or failure hinged on this moment. If Dragon Slash truly enhanced to +10, his close combat capability would greatly increase.

Sizzle!

A loud bang erupted from the equipment enhancement machine, prompting Bubu Wang to take a few steps back, one paw raised in front of him, just short of blurting out: ’What kind of monster are you?’

Whoosh～

A large plume of steam spurted out, enveloping Su Xiao within.

[Dragon Slash +10 succeeded.]

Seeing this notification, Su Xiao took a deep breath and raised his hand to grasp Dragon Slash on the tray. The hilt was still slightly warm, and the anti-slip beast skin he later wrapped around it felt somewhat different to the touch.

This black beast skin has quite a story to it; Succubus Lilymu tore it off her own clothing, claiming it was the hide of a certain dragon in the Black Abyss, though the truth is unknown. Its anti-slip performance is quite commendable, so Su Xiao wrapped it around the sword hilt.

Clang.

The blade hummed; Su Xiao took out the ’Midons Enhancement Device (Rare),’ which looked much like a crystal stone.

The Midons Enhancement Device shattered in Su Xiao’s hand, and the crystal particles adhered to the surface of Dragon Slash.

[Enhancing Dragon Slash level... Estimated time required: 39 minutes.]

Only 40 minutes needed, as Su Xiao happened to be waiting for the Black Merchant, thus waiting in the Equipment Strengthening Hall.

Soon, the Black Merchant’s people sought him out, delivering a Paradise Coin Savings Card with a balance of 221,250 points. After deducting the enhancement costs for Dragon Slash, Su Xiao was left with 481,250 Paradise coins.

Time passed quickly, and Su Xiao received a notice from Reincarnation Paradise.

[Dragon Slash has been enhanced to +13.]

Su Xiao took a deep breath to check Dragon Slash’s attributes at +13.

...

Dragon Slash saw considerable improvement in all its abilities; the Blood Thirsty Praise (Passive) originally had only a 12% conversion rate, achieving 32% after a series of enhancements, which is now very remarkable. In a state of heavy injury, Su Xiao, when surrounded by enemies, can restore himself rapidly in a short time.

Blood Thirsty Praise (Passive) restores Life Value, offering a certain healing effect. In other words, it absorbs converted Life Energy, simultaneously recovering Su Xiao’s wounds while restoring Life Value.

Undoubtedly, this is a capability worth developing. If the conversion rate reaches over 50%, it can be considered as a Divine Skill.

As for the increased range of Dragon Shadow Flash, Su Xiao was not surprised; what caught him off guard was Dragon Slash +13’s additional effect, which turned out to be a permanent amplification effect.

This means that even if Dragon Slash’s enhancement level were to drop due to a quality upgrade, Spirit Cat would still remain a Legendary Gem, its quality unaffected.

This led Su Xiao to ponder what would happen if Dragon Slash were enhanced to +14. Would it still be a permanent benefit?

When Su Xiao once enhanced Dragon Slash to +11, he was astonished to discover that, to enhance Dragon Slash to +12, Soul Crystals were required.

This undoubtedly reveals a message: once enhancement levels exceed +12, there will be significant changes. The Duke of Extinction +13’s effect was to increase gem inlay slots, and if Su Xiao guessed right, this is also a permanent amplification effect.

In other words, enhancement levels exceeding +12 bring permanent enhancement to equipment, and this enhancement won’t disappear due to a reduction in enhancement levels.

Realizing this, Su Xiao narrowed his eyes, seeming to have discovered another method to permanently enhance Dragon Slash, although... it’s indeed a risky approach.

The success rate for enhancing Dragon Slash to +14 stands at 6.1%, even with the boost from the [Honor Badge]; otherwise, it would only be a bare|strong chance of 1.1%. Truly a nightmare.

Failure in enhancing to +14 leaves no room for mitigation; the energy surge during enhancement would instantly shatter Dragon Slash. The consequences of Dragon Slash shattering can be imagined—a hard-fought effort across countless worlds all in vain.

Hence, this method of enhancing Dragon Slash is highly unreliable; Su Xiao feels the equipment enhancement machine before him is akin to a devil, silently coaxing him, enticing him step by step into the abyss.

”Let’s go.”

Su Xiao turned to leave; he wouldn’t come to this eerie place again in the near future.

What Su Xiao didn’t know was that the original form of the equipment enhancement machine was developed by the Devil Clan, designed to enhance their hearts, although that was just a prototype, and from an unknown number of years ago. By now, the Devil Clan’s enhancement technology had been discontinued.

This was a choice of the Devil Clan itself; they destroyed this technology with their own hands, just to ensure the continuation of their race. The Devils, whose Demon Hearts would explode as soon as they’re over-enhanced, can’t resist the temptation during enhancement, not even when it comes to Devils.

Su Xiao sheathed Dragon Slash; he has a feeling that nothing exists that he cannot cut through, whether this is an illusion, he would need to verify in the next Derivative World.

Leaving the Equipment Strengthening Hall, Su Xiao took Bubu Wang and A Mu directly to Xia’s restaurant.

...

”Welcome...”

As Su Xiao just pushed the door open, Xia, who envisioned incoming guests, came forward. Seeing it was Su Xiao, Xia’s face turned bitter, or it’s better to say, that was her reaction upon seeing A Mu.

”Let, let me go, I’m just a weak woman...”

Xia gets nervous at the sight of A Mu; Xia’s intense compulsion in cooking plus A Mu’s appetite, make Xia feel as if she’s in ’tribulation’ every time A Mu visits.

”Stop babbling, we’re starving.” 𝘧𝓇ℯℴ𝓂

Su Xiao reclined in a seat, one leg propped onto the dining table. Right now, he just wants to have a good meal and sleep.

”What to eat?”

”Ask him.”

Su Xiao pointed to Bubu Wang, whose dog face revealed a mischievous smile, implying: ”Give us a braised whale to try.”

Xia wore a face full of question marks, failing to grasp Bubu Wang’s meaning.

An hour later, Xia, her clothes drenched in sweat, lay exhausted on a chair as Su Xiao had already left.
