Reincarnation Paradise Park

Chapter 1394: Chapter 16: Enemy of Luck

The divination house was deathly silent; the battle hadn’t alerted the civilians. The civilians within a 500-meter radius had been evacuated, otherwise, Su Xiao and the others would have acted long ago.

Monroe sat behind the sofa, with a few pieces of cotton stuck to his head.

Crunch, crunch...

The glass shards in front of the divination house were crushed as a figure openly walked into the divination house.

Seeing this, Sharin, 200 meters away, gritted her teeth in anger.

”He really engaged in close combat with someone from the Sun Kingdom. What is he thinking?”

But in the next moment, Sharin’s anger faded away, with her mind focused solely on the thought that Su Xiao might also be a special agent of the Sun Kingdom.

Boom!

A thunderous sound came from within the divination house as Su Xiao threw down the concrete debris he held. In front of him lay a broken cement pillar.

Su Xiao held a knife in his right hand, with the long knife pointed diagonally at the ground.

A man dressed in casual clothes, with short hair, holding a deck of cards stood before Su Xiao. His pupils shimmered with a golden light.

This man was named Monroe, a Holy Sanctuary Paradise Contractor, also a believer. But he wasn’t fickle; his god of faith was somewhat special—the Goddess of Luck.

Swish, swish~

The cards flew through Monroe’s hands, and a card popped out—a Five of Clubs.

”A fifty percent chance of winning, not bad.”

Monroe grabbed the card from mid-air and stuffed it into his mouth. As it approached his mouth, the card transformed into golden light particles, quickly pouring into him.

With a rumble, the shards beneath Su Xiao’s feet scattered as he charged straight at his opponent.

Clang!

The long knife sliced through, and Monroe’s figure left a faint shadow, narrowly dodging Su Xiao’s slash.

Su Xiao vanished into thin air from his original location, reappearing behind Monroe. Monroe’s pupils shrank rapidly, and a faint stinging sensation emerged at the back of his neck.

Dragon Slash cut through the air, aiming directly at Monroe’s neck.

Monroe snapped his thumb, flicking up a card in his hand—a Spades 10, representing Monroe’s tenfold certainty in dodging the knife’s slash.

The golden hue in Monroe’s eyes surged, and within that instant, he exploded with speed unattainable by his own agility attributes.

Whoosh~

Monroe disappeared, akin to Su Xiao using Dragon Shadow Flash, vanishing into thin air.

Su Xiao’s slash hit empty air, and simultaneously, as he leaned left and tilted his head, a hand blade stabbed from behind his ear, narrowly grazing his cheek.

Dragon Slash rotated in Su Xiao’s hand, carving a semicircle with the long knife in front of him.

With a swish, the fingertips of three fingers were sliced off. Monroe was momentarily stunned before swiftly retreating.

Just as Monroe retreated, Su Xiao spun in place, launching a side kick.

A howling sound cut through, Monroe tilted his head backward, a blood mark surfacing on his chin. Although it was only a brush from Su Xiao’s toe, his chin throbbed with pain.

Su Xiao leapt back; Monroe almost simultaneously executed the same action. The two engaged in battle upon meeting, each move aiming directly at the other’s vitals, not a word of waste since the fight commenced.

Drip, drip...

Blood dripped from Monroe’s hand. He glanced at the three severed fingertips, then at Dragon Slash, a knife far too sharp—sharp to an unreasonable degree.

A card flipped out of Monroe’s hand, a Three of Hearts signifying his injury would heal in 3 minutes. This guy’s abilities were comprehensive, including dodge, healing, and attack. There was no sign he belonged to a large team; he seemed more like a Lone Ranger.

Su Xiao wiped the blood from his face; the injury wasn’t serious, but he endured an extremely perverse negative effect.

[Notice: You have been targeted by the God of Luck’s hostility, temporarily reducing Luck Attributes by 1, lasting 10 minutes.]

It was Su Xiao’s first encounter with such an enemy, whereby after taking the opponent’s attack, his luck attributes were temporarily reduced.

Monroe flicked out another card, a Spades 2, meaning if he injured Su Xiao next, Su Xiao would temporarily lose 2 points of luck attributes.

Monroe watched the Spades 2 in mid-air; he rarely drew a Spades 2, usually drawing A, which reduced an enemy’s luck attribute by 1 point after attacking a specific part.

Su Xiao glanced at the counter shield beside him; previously, when the enemy attacked, he had already positioned the counter shield in the attack’s path, yet it had no effect—the attack seemed capable of bypassing the counter shield.

Cunning, very cunning ability.

Su Xiao surveyed the surroundings, aiming to maximize the terrain’s advantage.

”I’ve heard the Reincarnation Paradise is filled with madmen; it seems so now.”

Monroe glanced at the corpses outside the shop; the next moment, he charged straight at Su Xiao. The previous words were meant to distract Su Xiao, supplemented by eyes inducing.

However, this trick was obviously a method Su Xiao had grown weary of. As the enemy sprinted forward, Su Xiao also stepped forward to meet him.

Clang, clang, clang.

The blade aura sparkled within the room; moments later, Monroe, with blood spraying from his body, staggered back several steps. The real damage he endured caused his life value to plummet to 21%.

A card flipped over, and within 2 seconds, Monroe’s wounds healed.

The sound of bullets penetrating the walls persistently came, Geya Alliance’s special agent had engaged in battle with the sneering man, the gunfire intensifying.

”Three, two, one.”

For some reason, Monroe counted down three times, this time, he flicked out five poker cards.

Light and shadow twisted, five Monroe figures appeared out of thin air, totaling six including Monroe’s main body.

The six Monroes fanned out in a semicircle, Monroe had realized Su Xiao had no apparent weaknesses.

Su Xiao also sought Monroe’s weaknesses—the opponent’s only possible weakness being low body defense, or perhaps, Dragon Slash being too sharp. The fourth-tier contractor Monroe couldn’t withstand Dragon Slash; if not for his strong abilities, he’d have died under Su Xiao’s blade long ago.

Su Xiao and Monroe stared at each other, both guessing the other’s thoughts.

Boom!

Both charged simultaneously, this time six against one.

Su Xiao instantly closed the distance with Monroe, the whistling wind sound disappearing beside his ear. As he was about to wield his knife, he sensed the closest enemy wasn’t right.

Whether it was a clone ability or a split ability, Monroe closest to Su Xiao suddenly expanded, like inflating a balloon.

Pop.

Like a bursting balloon, that Monroe exploded into a mass of golden smoke, the smoke rolling back towards Monroe.

Pop, pop, pop...

The remaining four Monroes all burst open, leaving only Monroe’s main body.

At this moment, Monroe seemed like a heavenly god descending, his entire body enveloped in golden light.

Just then, the metal chandelier over Su Xiao’s head suddenly crashed down; he sliced it apart with one swift motion, electric sparks flying, electricity coursing through Dragon Slash towards Su Xiao.

This level of voltage was nothing to Su Xiao, yet it appeared to signal something—bad luck was about to commence, Monroe was a contractor specializing in luck.

Su Xiao had anticipated this; he’d experience battling such enemies—such foes were exceedingly troublesome.

[Notice: Hunter is within the enemy’s domain; your luck will significantly decrease.]

Without needing Reincarnation Paradise’s notice, Su Xiao knew it was this situation. He distinctly felt that everything around him harbored animosity—the scattered debris on the ground, the chandelier cut into two, the sofa shattered into dozens of pieces—all emitted a faint malice.
