Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations

Chapter 488: Chapter 488: Forcing Her to Sign the Contract

The moment the door swung open, a man reacted quickly, wrapping his arm around Barbara Sutton, pressing a dagger against her neck, and holding her firmly.

”...” Barbara Sutton was so frightened her face turned pale, she couldn’t even call for help.

Monica Usher had just stepped in and witnessed this scene. Her steps halted, and she instantly became alert.

”President Usher, we’ve been expecting you for a long time.” The leading man stood up from the sofa, ”You finally came back.”

His tone seemed polite, but there was an edge to it, revealed through their actions.

Monica Usher looked at Barbara Sutton with alarm, her heart trembling with worry.

Barbara Sutton’s legs were shaking uncontrollably, ”...” Her trembling lips couldn’t utter a word.

Monica Usher tried to focus, noticing there were five men in the room. From their attire and demeanor, she tried to deduce their purpose in coming here.

It didn’t seem like a robbery.

She stepped forward and casually closed the door, ”Go ahead, what do you want with me? Don’t make things difficult for the young lady.”

”President Usher is indeed a smart person.” The man smiled.

Someone placed a contract on the coffee table.

Monica Usher sat down on the sofa, meeting Barbara Sutton’s terrified gaze, and calmly said to the man holding the dagger, ”Let her go first; she’s just a child.”

He glanced at the leading man, then moved the dagger slightly away.

Someone said, ”As long as President Usher signs, we guarantee she won’t be harmed.”

Monica Usher picked up the contract to have a closer look; the opposing company was R-Alan.

Old friends, the Kingston Group’s nemesis, somewhat competent, but their team members were somewhat reckless, making bold decisions with the singular goal of surpassing the Kingston Group, as if that was the only way to prove their worth.

If they couldn’t outmatch them, they resorted to all sorts of underhanded tricks.

To join such a company, Monica Usher definitely had her reservations.

”No need to rush your decision, President Usher.” The leading man said, ”You can take your time to think it through.”

”Monica, help me...” Barbara Sutton cried with tears, trembling uncontrollably, ”I don’t want to die... sobbing...”

Monica Usher’s eyes cooled slightly as she scanned the harsh terms, swiftly signing her name.

Her composure and decisiveness shocked everyone present.

”It’s signed. Now can you release her?” she asked calmly.

The men couldn’t believe it, even though they had watched her sign.

They picked up the contract and checked it over and over; every place was signed.

One of the men advised her, ”After what Justin Kingston did to you, what are you still holding on to?”

Hearing Justin Kingston’s name, Monica Usher felt a sharp pain in her heart, ”You all can leave now.”

The man released Barbara Sutton, and they all stood up.

Another one spoke, ”President Usher, with your intelligence and capability, as long as you’re willing to walk out of this dead-end, the future will surely be bright!”

She said nothing, her expression remaining calm, not even looking at them.

But they got the contract, their mission completed, there was no need to linger further.

”The contract is legally binding; start work at the company tomorrow. Breach will require compensation. I’m sure President Usher won’t want to get entangled in lawsuits and hefty penalty fees.” With that, they laughed and turned to leave.

After the door closed, it took a long time for Barbara Sutton to come back to her senses.

Monica Usher sat on the sofa; her face devoid of expression, she pulled out her phone and dialed a number, ”Hello, this is property management? How could you let this happen? My house was just broken into.”

Barbara Sutton paused, listening to her make the call.
