My Perfect Isekai: Pragmatic Protagonist, Progression Fantasy and Strategy

The heavy, iron-reinforced oak door of my room at the Golden Griffin clicked shut, isolating me from the bustling noise of Oakhaven. For the next thirty days, this quiet, dimly lit bedroom would serve as my personal biological workshop and isolation chamber.

My analytical mind had reached a cold, non-negotiable conclusion after clearing the ninetieth floor. The volcanic depths waiting beyond the milestone required a fundamental increase in output. Operating at the thirty percent limit of my first-level internal reactor was no longer optimal. To handle the extreme heat and crushing mass of the lower biome without wasting kinetic efficiency, I needed to double my standby throughput to exactly sixty percent.

I sat cross-legged on the floor, unbuckling the brass clasps of my coat and laying my bare hands on my knees. I took a slow, deliberate breath, closing my eyes and directing my consciousness inward.

Deep within my chest, the szafirowy reactor hummed with a quiet, dense vibration. The primary conduits—the mana weaves running through my limbs and torso—were already widened and reinforced from previous iterations, but pushing twice as much rushing energy through them required forced, physical expansion.

I unbuckled the mental valve regulating my throughput.

Instantly, a violent surge of szafirowy current flooded my conduits. The pressure spiked exponentially, expanding the biological walls of my energy channels. Pain—sharp, burning, and absolute—seared through my nervous system like liquid fire. Sweat poured from my forehead, evaporating instantly from the heat radiating off my skin.

A thin trickle of dark blood leaked from my left nostril, dripping onto the dry floorboards. I ignored it completely, maintaining absolute mental clarity and keeping my hands anchored on my knees. Inside my flesh, the passive, delayed tissue regeneration of my soul fought a continuous war against the internal pressure, rebuilding damaged conduit walls even as the szafirowy energy tore into them.

Day after day, the grueling katorga continued.

Outside the door, the rhythm of the Golden Griffin remained quiet and respectful. Every morning and evening, Elena softly placed wooden trays laden with high-protein roast meat, steaming bowls of thick Tonkotsu broth, and clay jugs of cold spring water on the floor beside my threshold. Shnee maintained an unyielding, silent vigil in the hallway, her hand resting quietly on the hilt of her rapier, ensuring that no guild messenger or inquisitive noble disturbed the Suweren’s isolation.

On the thirtieth night, the internal friction finally subsided.

The roaring current within my conduits smoothed out into a deep, rhythmic hum. My expanded mana weaves held the sixty percent throughput without a single tremor or spasm. The energy flowed through my limbs with the cold, silent smoothness of an oiled hydraulic press. My Vessel had successfully adapted to the doubled capacity, establishing a rock-solid, permanent foundation.

I opened my eyes. Deep within my pupils, a dense, unshakeable szafirowy light burned. I wiped the dry blood from my lip, stood up, and stretched my limbs. Every joint clicked into place with mechanical precision.

”Throughput stabilized at sixty percent,” I muttered quietly, adjusting my shirt collar. ”Time to clean up the volcanic floors.”

Forty-eight hours later, our three-person expedition stepped through the massive archway leading to the ninety-first floor of the dungeon.

The transition was violent and immediate. The freezing, sub-zero winds of the ice biome vanished, replaced by a suffocating wall of scorching, sulfur-scented heat. The ceiling rose into a vast, cavernous vault of jagged basalt and glowing obsidian. Below us, rivers of yellow-orange molten slag and liquid iron carved glowing channels through the dark rock, filling the air with heavy heat haze and popping embers.

Kaede, perched comfortably on my left pauldron in her small sapphire spider form, tapped her legs against my coat collar.

”O kurwa, ale tu piekarnik!” her cheerful ping echoed in my left ear in our native Polish operational cipher. ”Szefie, temperatura na zewnątrz ma jakieś dwieście stopni! Moje przędne stopią się na płynny plastik, jak tu zostanę bez osłony!”

”Relax, Kaede,” I replied calmly, keeping my hands buried in the pockets of my black coat. ”Thermal regulation is a basic engineering problem.”

With a subtle impulse of my willed energy, I expanded my passive szafirowy aura outward, forming a three-meter spherical barrier around myself and Shnee. The suffocating heat wall bounced off the outer edge of the field, dropping the internal temperature within our sphere to a pleasant, stable eighteen degrees.

Shnee walked at my right side, her white hair swaying gently in the artificially cooled breeze. Her icy blue eyes scanned the glowing slag rivers with sharp, tactical focus.

”The atmosphere is saturated with fire mana and heavy metal vapors, Dave,” she reported, her hand resting on her Celestial Silver rapier. ”Standard elemental spells will suffer severe dissipation here.”

”Which is why we won’t be using standard spells,” I said, halting at the edge of a high basalt cliff overlooking a vast, circular arena surrounded by lakes of molten iron.

In the center of the arena stood the guardian of the ninety-first floor: the Slag Minotaur.

The monster was a twelve-meter, armored behemoth constructed of compressed volcanic basalt, jagged obsidian plates, and a glowing, molten-iron spine that pulsed with terrifying heat. It held no weapons, relying entirely on its monstrous mass, five-ton basalt horns, and raw physical impact. As it noticed our presence on the high cliff, it raised its massive head and let out a guttural, earth-shaking roar that sent ripples across the molten rivers below.

”Szefie, ten kloc waży z siedemdziesiąt ton!” Kaede reported, her small eyes blinking as she analyzed the monster. ”Pancerz z żużlu i żywego bazaltu! Jak chcesz to ugryźć?”

”I’m going to test the new sixty percent throughput,” I replied simply. Then, turning to Shnee and Kaede, I added, ”First, let’s establish proper viewing conditions.”

I extended my left hand toward a high, overhanging basalt spire overlooking the arena. With a controlled surge of telekinesis, I carved a smooth, flat terrace into the rock face, shaping a comfortable, shaded alcove. Next, I deployed a dense layer of Sapphire Slime over the stone, crafting a wide, insulated bench with a smooth, cool surface that completely blocked the ambient heat of the floor.

”Loża Szyderców is complete,” I announced, gesturing toward the newly constructed VIP terrace. ”Shnee, Kaede, take your seats. Enjoy the show.”

Kaede let out a delighted, high-pitched chirp. ”No szefie, loża VIP w środku piekła! Dajesz loża szyderców gotowa, piwo chłodne, oglądamy rozpiździel!”

Shnee smiled with quiet, predatory pride, gracefully stepping onto the cool slime bench and sitting down with her legs crossed. She retrieved a clay flask of chilled spring water from her pouch and leaned back against the smooth basalt wall, her icy gaze fixed on the arena below.

”Show us the power of sixty percent, Dave,” she whispered smoothly.

I stepped off the edge of the cliff.

Instead of falling like a stone, I adjusted my kinetic momentum, sliding down the air on an invisible, sloped line of force. I landed softly in the center of the ash-covered arena, exactly thirty meters from the Slag Minotaur. The impact of my boots raised a small cloud of grey dust, which evaporated instantly against the heat.

The Minotaur lowered its colossal head. Its glowing molten-iron eyes locked onto me with absolute, predatory malice. The ground beneath its heavy hooves cracked as it channeled tons of kinetic energy into its legs.

BOOM!

The monster charged. Sixty tons of basalt, molten iron, and compressed rage hurtled toward me like an runaway industrial train. The air in front of its horns compressed into a shockwave of heat, blowing the ash away from its path.

I didn’t draw Orcrist. I didn’t step back. I didn’t even take my hands out of my coat pockets until the monster was five meters away.

At four meters, I took my hands out.

I activated my Gōtai, coating both of my forearms and hands in a dense, light-absorbing layer of black willed armor. Simultaneously, I opened the mental valve to sixty percent. The szafirowy current within my conduits roared to life, filling my muscles and bone structure with immense, rock-solid density.

The Slag Minotaur reached me, driving its massive, five-ton basalt horns straight for my chest.

I stepped forward into the impact.

CRACK-BOOM!

My black-coated hands shot out, gripping the monster’s two massive horns mid-stride. The shockwave of the collision detonated outward, tearing up the basalt floor beneath my boots and pushing two deep trenches into the stone as I absorbed the monster’s momentum.

My feet slid back exactly forty centimeters before coming to a complete, absolute halt.

The Slag Minotaur froze in shock. Its glowing iron eyes widened as its sixty-ton charge was stopped dead in its tracks by a single human standing in the ash.

”Is that all your mass can generate?” I asked coldly, my sapphire eyes burning beneath my dark hair.

I tensed my core, driving sixty percent of my reactor’s output directly into my shoulder joints and spinal alignment. With a brutal, fluid motion of pure physical dominance, I twisted my wrists inward.

CRUNCH!

The massive basalt horns shattered in my iron grip like dry twigs. The Minotaur let out a agonized, metallic bellow as the force carried through its neck structure, cracking the thick basalt plates along its jaw.

Before the monster could recoil, I stepped inside its guard. I slammed my right palm—coated in black Gōtai and backed by the full, crushing weight of my sixty percent throughput—directly into the center of its glowing, molten-iron spine.

THUMMMM!

The kinetic shockwave penetrated deep into the monster’s core, bypassing its outer armor entirely. The internal slag spine violently imploded, shattering the central structural support of the behemoth. Cracks of blinding, orange light erupted across the Minotaur’s entire torso as its molten circulatory system collapsed inward.

The twelve-meter monster stiffened, its glowing eyes dimming, before collapsing onto the ash-covered arena in a heap of lifeless, smoking slag and broken basalt.

The battle had lasted less than twelve seconds.

I stood over the steaming carcass, extinguishing my Gōtai and letting the black coating smoothly absorb back under my skin. I reached into the cracked chest cavity of the fallen boss with my bare hand, casually retrieving the massive, pulsating molten core, and tossed it into my pouch.

From the high basalt terrace above, a cheerful whistle echoed through the cavern.

”Szefie! To był dosłownie przycisk ’usuń wszystko’!” Kaede shouted down in our Polish cipher, clapping her small spider legs together. ”Zero strat w pancerzu, czysta masakra gołymi rękami!”

I adjusted my black coat, turned on my heel, and glided back up to the terrace on a kinetic line of force. I stepped into the cool, eighteen-degree sphere of the Loża Szyderców and took a seat beside Shnee, taking a slow sip of cold spring water from the clay jug.

”Ninety-first floor cleared,” I said calmly, looking down at the smoking arena. ”Let me know when you’re ready for the ninety-second.”
