My Perfect Isekai: Pragmatic Protagonist, Progression Fantasy and Strategy

The rich, mouth-watering aroma of roasted venison, thick onion gravy, and freshly baked lard bread hung heavy in the air of the Golden Griffin’s main hall. I sat at my regular table in the deepest corner of the room, my hands pushed deep into the pockets of my black coat, lazily watching Elena and Luthia sort through new property deeds and municipal ledgers with professional, razor-sharp focus.

After yesterday’s high-intensity liquidation of the Exegol Shaman on the eightieth floor and closing the eighth ten of the Forgotten Necropolises, my internal reactor demanded a massive intake of calories. When Mina proudly placed a steaming, clay bowl brimming with rich, high-protein meat stew in front of me, I pulled my right hand from my pocket and dug in with a clean, predatory appetite.

Shnee sat right beside me, her Celestial Silver rapier resting securely in its scabbard at her hip. Her diamond eyes followed my every movement with quiet, possessive devotion. She ate her portion in serene silence, but her stance radiated absolute, assassin readiness.

From beneath my left collar, a tiny, white chitinous head poked out. Kaede, encased in her flexible, sapphire-slime powered armor, blinked her black eyes and twitched her front legs, staring hungrily at my platter.

”Szefie... no daj kawałek tego boczku,” she whispered in our private Polish operational cipher, her legs doing a little tap-dance against my collarbone. ”Moje pathways po wczorajszym pingowaniu na osiemdziesiątym piętrze są tak wygłodniałe, że zaraz zacznę własny odwłok żreć. Ten pancerz ze śluzu jest super, ale pali kalorie jak głupi.”

I chuckled quietly, using my fork to pinch a thick, juicy piece of roasted pork and dropping it onto the table edge. Kaede pounced on it like a tiny, ravenous beast, her miniature jaws tearing through the meat with absurd speed.

”Luthia, how is the vault construction progressing?” I asked in common tongue, turning my gaze to our elf analyst.

”Silas’s masons began digging beneath his office last night,” Luthia reported without looking up from her parchments, her yellow eyes sharp behind her glasses. ”With the capital from the cores you brought back, he hired three shifts of stonecutters. The granite vault and your custom masking arrays will be fully operational by the end of the week. No one in Oakhaven will suspect the sheer volume of high-tier mana stored beneath his floorboards.”

”Perfect optimization,” I evaluated calmly, swallowing the last piece of stew and washing it down with cold spring water. ”We leave the logistics to Silas and Elena. Shnee, Kaede—pack your gear. It’s time to check what kind of environmental physics the ninth ten has prepared for us.”

Ten minutes later, we stood before the return Sapphire Prism on the edge of the Lower City. Space folded inward with a quiet, high-voltage hiss, swallowing our silhouettes and spitting us out directly into the deep, frozen guts of the eighty-first floor.

The transition hit us with a drastic, sensory shock.

The temperature in this new biome dropped precipitously, plunging to absurd values that hovered near absolute zero. The walls, floor, and ceiling of the monumental cavern were no longer built of black basalt or purple geode quartz—the entire floor was carved from thick, sterile blocks of eternal, deep-blue ice. The air was so dry and freezing that every breath felt like swallowing crushed glass.

Shnee immediately drew her Celestial Silver rapier, intent on establishing her frost aura, but the moment her frost mana made contact with the ambient air, a sharp, glassy crunch echoed through the cavern. Her frost crystallized too rapidly and unevenly, creating microscopic structural defects within her blade’s aura that made the ice brittle as cheap glass.

”My frost... it’s cracking on contact, Dave,” Shnee noted, her eyebrows furrowing in rare frustration as she tested her blade against a nearby ice pillar, only for her aura to shatter into harmless dust. ”The ambient temperature is too low. It’s ruining the cohesion of my weaves.”

”Because you’re committing a basic engineering error, darling,” I explained calmly, stepping up beside her and keeping my hands in my coat pockets. ”On pure common-sense logic, the dungeon on this floor is trying to impose its own extreme laws of thermodynamics on you. Standard ice has a crystalline lattice. At absolute zero, water freezes too fast and chaotically, creating internal stress lines. Your blades lose elasticity and shatter upon physical impact.”

Shnee turned her diamond eyes to me, absorbing every word with total, fanatical focus. ”How do I fix it?”

”You must alter the state of matter at the source,” I instructed, pulling my right hand out. ”Instead of allowing your mana to crystallize freely, you must apply wolicjonalne kinetic pressure. When you condense the frost, apply a heavy, spherical spatial pressure over the energy. Compress the molecules so rapidly that they don’t have time to form a regular lattice. You must create amorphous ice—a solid phase with the atomic structure of a liquid. It’s insanely dense, flawless, and hard as high-grade steel, with zero fracture planes.”

To demonstrate, I released a thin stream of Sapphire Slime from my fingertip. As the blue mercury froze under the extreme cold, I clamped a titanium vise of telekinetic pressure over the fluid. The blue substance compressed with a tight, metallic CRACK!, forming a crystal-clear, sapphire icicle with razor-sharp, flawless edges.

I struck the icicle against the solid wall with full kinetic force.

BOOM!

The ancient ice wall cracked, showering the floor with shards, but my amorphous ice spike remained entirely unblemished, gleaming with sterile, indestructible beauty.

”See?” I smirked, letting the slime absorb back into my skin. ”Amorphous physics. Try it now, Shnee.”

Shnee closed her eyes, breathing deeply. Her Vessel flared with a brilliant, fioletowy light as she concentrated her mental power. She brought her palms together, a dense, foggy frost condensing between her fingers. I felt the air around her vibrate with a heavy, spatial pressure as she forced the cold into a dense, amorphous state.

ZGRZYT!

A deep, dense sound of compressed matter resonated through the cave. Shnee opened her eyes, holding a long, razor-sharp, and completely transparent rapier forged from amorphous ice. It looked as if it had been hewn from a single, flawless diamond.

”Flawless execution, darling,” I evaluated with a proud smirk.

”Szefie... a co ze mną?” Kaede’s squeaky voice pinged from my ear. ”To absolutne zero sprawia, że moja pajęczyna robi się tak krucha, że rozpada się od samego patrzenia. Moje sieci EMP tracą przewodność. Jestem bezużyteczna w tym lodowym zamrażalniku!”

”Not in my squad, kid,” I replied dryly. ”Extend your front legs.”

Kaede poked her tiny chitinous paws out. I extended my index finger, letting a microscopic, super-compressed drop of Sapphire Slime coat her spinnerets. Under the influence of our pakt, the blue energy formed a sterile, thermal insulation layer around her silk glands.

”Test it now,” I ordered.

A pack of Ice Goliaths—four-meter, heavy constructs formed of frosted blue stone—erupted from the frozen mist ahead, their multi-ton boots causing the ice floor to vibrate violently.

”Kaede, disable their mobility. Shnee, test the new toy,” I commanded calmly.

”Robi się, szefie! Sieć EMP w drodze!” Kaede squeaked happily.

From beneath my collar, three dense, sapphire-composite nets shot out with a high-voltage hum. They expanded in the freezing air, enveloping the legs of the lead Goliaths. The moment the insulated threads touched the icy constructs, a high-voltage szafirowy impulse blasted directly into their cores. Their energy pathways paralyzed instantly, their internal motorics shutting down with a loud system whine, and the massive colossi crashed onto the ice like felled timber.

Shnee blurred into motion like a silver phantom. Her new amorphous ice rapier whistled through the air, piercing their frozen core nodes with surgical ease. The diamond-hard ice blade didn’t chip or crack; it passed through their armored shells like a hot knife through butter, shattering their cores into fine, purple dust.

When the blizzard grew so thick on the eighty-second floor that physical sight became completely useless, I simply closed my eyes and activated Yomi Stage II.

My active 3D sonar expanded outward, rendering a monochromatic, three-dimensional model of the entire cavern in my mind. Every monster, every falling ice pillar, every movement of the wind was mapped with millimeter precision from a TPP camera perspective.

Walking through the pitch-black, howling storm with my hands deep in my pockets, I calmly dictated tactical commands to Shnee:

”Two on the right, knee height... Loading a jump. Strike now.”

Shnee, trusting my voice implicitly, executed a lightning-fast, blind thrust into the dark. Her amorphous rapier severed two transparent Crawlers mid-flight, turning them into clouds of black ash before they even reached our perimeter.

”One from above, dropping fast.”

Another blind, surgical arc of steel. Another core shattered in the dark. We became an untouchable, blind assault unit, gliding through the silent ice caves with machine-like symbiosis.

On the border of the eighty-third floor, my Yomi radar suddenly registered a massive, highly unusual spatial anomaly embedded deep inside a solid wall of ancient, blue ice.

I paused, opening my eyes to examine the spot. Frozen deep within a twenty-meter block of transparent ice was a human-sized silhouette clad in strange, futuristic armor, its hand frozen around a metallic, cylindrical hilt that closely resembled a lightsaber. An obvious, alien Easter Egg hidden by the dungeon system.

”Boss, what is that?!” Kaede gasped, her eyes wide.

”An unoptimized Easter Egg,” I evaluated coldly. ”We don’t have time for field archeology while lasers are shooting from the ceiling.”

I extended my right hand. I didn’t bother using picks or heat spells. I wrapped a massive, multi-ton telekinetic vise around the entire block of ice containing the alien armor. With one hard, spatial jerk, I tore the colossal chunk of ice directly out of the wall with a deafening CRACK!

Ignoring the laws of mass, I smoothed its trajectory through the air and pushed the entire twenty-meter block of ice directly into my open spatial pouch, storing it for later analysis in our base.

A few hundred meters deeper, the boss of the eighty-third floor—the Winter Wendigo—attempted to hunt us from within the blizzard, using its absurd speed to strike from our blind spots.

But against Yomi Stage II, speed was irrelevant. I mapped its trajectory a second before it lunged, calmly stepped off its attack line, and delivered a short, point-blank Inertia Lock strike directly to the nerve node behind its ear. The Wendigo’s nervous system caught an instant, clinical short-circuit, and its limp body crashed onto the ice, where Shnee cleanly shattered its core.

”Eighty-third floor cleared to absolute zero,” I summarized with brazen coolness, gathering the high-level cores into my pouch. ”Gear check fine, conduits stable. Let’s move down and show this frozen hell who owns the monopoly.”
