My Perfect Isekai: Pragmatic Protagonist, Progression Fantasy and Strategy

The morning sun struggled to pierce through the oak shutters of the Golden Griffin, casting geometric lines of light across the floor. I woke up early, and my mind immediately entered high gear, completely free from the earthly stupor. I took a deep breath, feeling the cool air stabilize my internal reactor. My body felt perfectly regenerated after yesterday’s dungeon run and the physical demolition of the obsidian golem .

I sat on the edge of the bed and stretched until my shoulders popped with a satisfying crack. I reached for the small pouch on the nightstand, pulling out the ring of footstep hiding I found in the secret compartment. It was a clean drop for my curiosity. Then I picked up the most important loot: the Essence Core of the Obsidian Golem. The stone was heavy and pulsed with a warm, reddish light. On its smooth surface, I traced the scratched symbol of a twisted eye. My analytical grid suggested this was not a standard system drop, but a clear crack in the reality of Oakhaven. Someone was intentionally modifying the code of this world. I dropped the core into my pouch as a problem for later.

I went downstairs, and the smell of roasted meat hit my nose immediately. Elena was already cleaning the oak counter with surgical method. She looked up and her face brightened with a sense of authentic security. ”Good morning, Dave. Warm water is ready, and the roast is fresh,” she said with a stable voice. ”You are indispensable, Elena,” I replied with a relaxed smile, leaning against a pillar.

I sat at the corner table and began to eat, absorbing the high calories needed to maintain the density of my physical shell . Our relationship was based on building a stable, safe brotherhood without any artificial haste. I finished the meal, nodded to Elena, and threw my black coat over my shoulders. I stepped out into the muddy streets of Oakhaven, feeling the weight of the city.

I decided to take a shortcut through the narrow alleys of the Lower City. On pure logic, the main roads were a waste of time due to the dense crowd. My sharp hearing caught the sound of heavy boots scraping against wet stone behind me. Three tall thugs emerged from the shadows near a blind wall. They wore worn leather armor and stank of cheap booze and rot. The largest one, with a broken nose, pulled out a heavy meat cleaver. He blocked my path, crossing his arms with boorish arrogance.

”Are you lost, pretty boy?” he growled with a primitive laugh. ”Leave that nice coat and your pouch here, or we will make a second smile on your throat”.

I did not slow down my pace. I kept my hands pushed deep into the pockets of my black coat, and my expression did not change by a millimeter. I maintained absolute Brazen chill. These street pawns did not deserve a fraction of my attention, let alone the activation of my magic weaves.

Instead of using lightning or threats, I focused on raw physics. I activated my analytical grid for a split second to calculate the resistance of their joints. I released a short, horizontal wave of focused kinetic energy from my mind. I used pure pressure aimed exactly at the leader’s kneecaps.

The impact was surgical. A dry, disgusting crack echoed through the alley, sounding like breaking branches. Both of the thug’s legs bent at an unnatural angle in an instant. The man didn’t even have time to breathe before the pain of shattered kneecaps dropped him to the mud. He dropped his cleaver and began to howl, choking on his own saliva.

I walked right over him, not even looking down. ”You are standing wrong, blockheads,” I threw in an indifferent tone to the remaining two. ”Step aside, or I will crush the rest of your useless joints”.

Panic is the strongest biological stimulus. The two thugs realized they were facing an anomaly. They dropped their weapons with a metallic clang and ran into the darkness of the alleys, stumbling over trash in absolute terror. Trash Cleaning was finished successfully. I adjusted my coat and continued my walk towards Silas’s office.

I reached the heavy, iron-clad door Elena mentioned the night before. I kicked it open with my boot and stepped inside, letting the dust settle. The office stank of old ink, dust, and cheap tobacco. Behind a massive desk cluttered with ledgers sat the owner, a wiry man with a cynical gaze who looked like he knew every secret in Oakhaven.

Silas didn’t even look up as I approached, his pen scratching loudly against a parchment. ”If you’re here to sell some rusted junk from goblins, fuck off to the Guild,” he growled in a raspy voice. I didn’t answer the provocation, maintaining my Brazen chill. I pulled the pulsing Essence Core from my bag and dropped it onto the oak desk with a heavy thud that shook the bottles on his shelves.

The merchant froze. His pen stopped mid-letter and a cloud of smoke escaped his mouth. Silas slowly looked at my face, then down at the stone, and his analytical mind caught a massive lag. ”Where the fuck did you get this?” he wheezed, leaning back in his creaking chair. ”It must weigh ten pounds!”. He grabbed the core, checking the mana density with the pedantic accuracy of a man who handled fortunes his whole life. He noticed the distorted eye symbol and his brow furrowed. ”This isn’t a system drop,” he muttered with fascination. ”What kind of anomaly is this?”.

”Not your problem, Silas,” I cut him off, crossing my arms. ”Your problem is the valuation”. The old fence calculated the risks and profits with the speed of a siege engine. ”It’s prime goods,” he admitted with a merchant’s grin. ”I’ll give you twenty silver coins right now. Not a copper more”.

My pure logic analyzed the rate. In this deflationary economy, twenty silver was a small fortune. Five silver could sustain a normal man for a month. This was a solid start. ”Agreed,” I said with Brazen chill. ”But consider this just a warm-up. Open new ledgers, Silas. Make a lot of space on your shelves, because I’m going to flood this place with loot from the deep floors”.

Silas turned pale, realizing I wasn’t just another adventurer making cheap threats. He understood I intended to devour the entire dungeon. He handed over a heavy pouch of bright silver with trembling hands.

I returned to the Golden Griffin late in the afternoon. Elena was cleaning the counter with her usual patience. I placed five silver coins on the oak desk for rent and food in advance. Elena caught another lag, her face flushing with gratitude. I sat in my corner with a cup of water, feeling my body ready for more destruction. I had the capital, the loyalty, and the connections. The deep floors were waiting.
