My Perfect Isekai: Pragmatic Protagonist, Progression Fantasy and Strategy

The space around us warped with a vibrating crack, and the portal spit our trio out of the darkness straight into the maw of physical pain. The eighty-fourth floor of the Forgotten Necropolises did not play with subtleties or give time for acclimatization. Instead of narrow obsidian corridors or humid fungal caves, a vast, frozen plateau welcomed us beneath a leaden, featureless sky.

The entire space was devoured by a howling, aggressive blizzard. The wind wailed like tearing cloth, driving sharp needles of ice through the air with the force of thrown daggers. The temperature had plunged to values so extreme that every unshielded breath felt like inhaling liquid nitrogen, threatening to freeze the lungs from the inside out.

Shnee immediately drew her Celestial Silver rapier, her body instinctively tensing as her frost aura flared to repel the hostile environment. Little Kaede, tucked tightly inside the high collar of my coat, let out a sharp, piskliwy shiver, her small chitinous legs digging into my leather lapel.

”Boss, holy shit!” Kaede squeaked in our native Polish operational cipher, her voice trembling slightly despite her powered armor. ”Pizga tu jak na Kasprowym w środku zamieci! Moje sensory prawie zamarzły na kość w sekundę!”

”Hold your horses, kid,” I replied in Polish with a relaxed, predatory smile, keeping both hands shoved deep into the pockets of my black coat.

I had zero intention of adapting to the local weather, nor did I intend to waste calories shivering or forcing my companions to endure a physical struggle against ambient thermodynamics. Adapting to the enemy’s conditions was always the first step toward losing initiative.

I opened the valves of my internal reactor, releasing exactly thirty percent of my sapphire aura. Instead of releasing an explosive shockwave, I focused the energy with surgical, engineering precision, weaving a stable, five-meter sphere around our group.

The Sapphire Thermos was created.

The effect was instantaneous and absolute. The moment the howling wind, screaming ice, and sub-zero frost encountered the outer boundary of my sapphire sphere, the extreme thermal energy of my aura completely neutralized the cold. The driven snow and sharp needles of ice melted into harmless steam at the perimeter, evaporating without a sound. Inside our five-meter bubble, the air became dry, crisp, and perfectly warmed to a comfortable eighteen degrees Celsius.

Shnee let out a long, quiet sigh of relief, her shoulders relaxing as her Celestial Silver rapier lowered slightly. She looked around at the howling wall of white raging just inches beyond our invisible barrier, her diamond eyes flashing with fanatical admiration.

”A heat barrier...” she whispered softly, her voice filled with deep respect. ”Dave, you aren’t even using a fire spell. You are simply maintaining a constant thermal equilibrium in open space.”

”On common sense, darling, temperature is merely the kinetic vibration of microscopic particles,” I explained calmly in the common tongue, stepping forward at a leisurely pace. ”Cold is not an active force—it is merely the absence of energy. By establishing a fixed, high-frequency kinetic vibration on the border of our zone, I create a perfect thermal insulator. The blizzard cannot cross this threshold because it lacks the energy density to alter my sphere. Pure thermodynamics in practice.”

As we advanced through the howling gale, the atmospheric pressure of the eighty-fourth floor began to register against my passive senses. It was a subtle, insidious environmental anomaly designed by the dungeon developers to wear down seekers. The extreme frost didn’t merely chill the skin—it attempted to penetrate the physical conduits of the Vessel, freezing the moisture within muscle fibers and creating micro-stoppages in mana flow.

For ordinary adventurers, even elite A-rank veterans, this level of cold required constant active heating spells, which drained their energy cores within minutes. But within our Sapphire Thermos, the thermodynamic equilibrium remained absolute. My active 3D sonar mapped the terrain through the whiteout, rendering every sharp ice pillar, hidden crevasse, and structural instability in clean, monochromatyczny detail.

”Dave, the ice beneath this snow layer is non-crystalline permafrost,” Shnee observed quietly, her silver eyes scanning the terrain beyond our warm sphere. ”It has been compressed under high-density gravity for centuries. Standard physical strikes will bounce off it without creating structural fractures.”

”Which is why we won’t be using blunt physical force against the terrain, darling,” I replied smoothly, adjusting the collar of my coat. ”Hardened permafrost has immense compressive strength, but its shear resistance is virtually zero when subjected to directional kinetic vibration. If you hit the fault lines at a forty-five-degree angle, the entire shelf splits like dry porcelain.”

”Stary... ty stworzyłeś dosłownie chodzący szafirowy termos!” Kaede babbled in awe, poking her small head out from my collar and wiggling her antennae. ”Czysty luksus w środku tego zamrożonego piekła! Zero spalania kalorii na trzęsienie tyłkiem!”

”Efficiency is the key to every long marathon, kid,” I replied smoothly in Polish, adjusting my collar as we strode through the raging storm.

We marched across the frozen plateau as an isolated oasis of warmth. Beyond our five-meter dome, the blizzard howled furiously, but within our sphere, our boots crunched smoothly over the hard permafrost.

As we reached the center of the plateau, the ground beneath our feet began to vibrate with a deep, rhythmic thud. Through the blinding curtain of white, several massive silhouettes slowly materialized.

The local defense formation had arrived.

They were Frost Goliaths—gigantyczne, five-meter constructs forged from dense, ancient glacier ice and reinforced with veins of dark, frozen iron ore. Their eyes smoldered with a dull, blue light, and each of them wielded monumental clubs carved from solid ice-bound granite.

”Boss, tactical ping!” Kaede reported sharply in our Polish cipher, her radar scanning the moving silhouettes. ”Cztry wielkie klocy na godzinie dwunastej! Biorą nas w półkole! Pancerz mają gruby jak cholera, ale ich motoryka jest powolna jak spychacz!”

”Shnee, cover the rear axis. Don’t waste your pathways on full-scale spells,” I commanded in the common speech, not taking my hands out of my coat pockets. ”Let’s test the mechanical stability of their footing.”

The four Frost Goliaths let out a collective, soundless roar that sent shockwaves through the howling wind, charging toward our sphere with heavy, ground-shaking strides. Tons of ice and iron rushed straight at us, intending to flatten our small group under their sheer physical tonnage.

I didn’t move an inch. I didn’t draw Orcrist, nor did I construct a kinetic barrier. I simply focused my analytical mind on the terrain beneath their massive feet.

Directly ahead of our path, the plateau ended in a sheer, vertical precipice that dropped thousands of meters down into a pitch-black, bottomless abyss. The goliaths were charging parallel to the cliff edge, assuming the hard ice beneath them would hold their weight.

”Tragic balance,” I commented with complete brazen chill.

Precisely as the two lead goliaths reached the peak of their momentum, I released a short, horizontal pulse of telekinesis from my mind. Instead of hitting the monsters directly, I targeted the precise fault line in the ice shelf beneath their heavy heels.

I didn’t break the ice with brute force. I simply applied a micro-kinetic vibration to the cleavage planes of the permafrost, removing the friction between the glacier layer and the underlying basalt rock.

CRACK.

The sound was a dry, subtle snap that was instantly swallowed by the howling wind.

The entire edge of the ice shelf, carrying the full multi-ton weight of the two lead Frost Goliaths, instantly lost its point of support. The laws of gravity and momentum executed a ruthless, non-negotiable sentence. The two massive constructs, unable to correct their lines of force or arrest their forward momentum, slid off the edge of the plateau in mid-stride.

”Ry ryk?!” their soundless, panicky cries echoed faintly as they tumbled into the void.

The two multi-ton giants plunged into the black abyss, their heavy bodies crashing against the canyon walls miles below before disappearing completely into the dark depths.

A moment later, using my telekinesis, I caught the faint, energy signatures of their drops rising from the chasm. Four large, glowing violet essence cores and several high-grade frost crystals flew out from the dark, floating smoothly over the edge and dropping directly into my open bottomless pouch.

CLINK.

”Simple gravity saves calories,” I summarized with a relaxed smile, flicking a speck of snow from my sleeve. ”Why fight multi-ton armor when the environment is more than willing to do the heavy lifting for free?”

”Czysty, bezczelny zrzut grawitacyjny!” Kaede cheered from my shoulder, clapping her front legs together. ”Zero machania rękami, zero zużycia many, a loot sam wlatuje do kieszeni! Szefie, jesteś mistrzem optymalizacji!”

The remaining two Frost Goliaths froze mid-step, their primitive, system-driven minds catching a severe lag as they processed the instant deletion of their frontline. Their glowing blue eyes darted from the empty cliff edge to my calm, hands-in-pockets silhouette.

”Your turn, darling,” I threw loosely to Shnee. ”Show them the new density of your blade.”

Shnee didn’t hesitate for a single microsecond. The white-haired elf blurred into motion, stepping out of our warm sphere for barely two seconds. Her Celestial Silver rapier, now coated in a thin, flawless layer of Amorphous Ice, whistled through the freezing air like a phantom whip.

She didn’t execute a wide, dramatic swing. She applied the exact biomechanics of the Quick style we had drilled—a minimalist, short thrust aimed directly at the central nerve node beneath the third goliath’s jaw.

THWIP.

The amorphous ice blade entered the monster’s frozen armor without the slightest physical resistance, penetrating straight into its core. Upon contact, Shnee executed a rapid, ninety-degree twist of her wrist, firing a localized pulse of extreme frost directly into the core’s interior.

The amorphous density of her ice acted as a perfect conductor. The sudden, internal thermal shock caused the goliath’s core to freeze beyond its molecular tolerance.

BOOM.

The five-meter goliath didn’t fall—it literally imploded, its massive ice-and-iron body disintegrating into a cloud of fine, sparkling frost dust that was instantly swept away by the blizzard.

Before the fourth goliath could swing its granite club, Shnee glided behind its back with feline grace, her rapier delivering an identical, surgical thrust to the base of its neck.

CLACK.

The final construct stiffened, its blue eyes going dark before its entire frame collapsed into a harmless heap of gray, frozen gravel.

Shnee smoothly sheathed her rapier with a quiet, metallic click, stepping back inside our warm Sapphire Thermos before her dark combat uniform could even absorb the outer cold. Her porcelain cheeks carried a faint, rosy flush, and her diamond eyes shone with quiet, intense pride.

”Amorphous ice conducts the frost pulse without losing structural momentum, Dave,” she reported softly, her voice crisp and clear. ”The impact felt completely weightless.”

”Because you stopped fighting the density of the target, darling,” I replied with a warm, approving nod, using telekinesis to scoop the two remaining boss-grade essence cores from the gravel and dropping them into my pouch. ”When your weapon has no internal fault lines, the entire force of your Vessel transfers directly into the target. Perfect execution.”

We crossed the rest of the plateau without encountering further resistance. The blizzard raged around us, but inside our five-meter sphere, the air remained calm, warm, and comfortable.

At the far end of the plateau, carved directly into the face of a monumental glacier wall, stood the blue-glowing portal leading to the eighty-fifth floor.

I paused at the threshold, looking down at our heavy pouch, which now jingled with dozens of high-level essence cores and rare mineral drops.

”End of today’s marathon,” I announced calmly, turning to Shnee and Kaede. ”Our Vessel has processed enough environmental stress for one day, and we’ve gathered a massive pile of capital for Silas’s ledgers. We return to the Golden Griffin.”

”Melduję pełną aprobatę, szefie!” Kaede squeaked happily, wiggling her antennae. ”Mina obiecała na kolację pieczoną dziczyznę w gorącym sosie! A ja mam zamiar zjeść potrójną porcję boczku!”

”And no ice in any of the drinks tonight, Dave,” Shnee added with a rare, playful smile, her silver hair brushing against my shoulder as she stood beside me.

”Agreed, darling,” I chuckled softly, my brazen chill firmly in place. ”Pure carbohydrates, hot coffee, and a well-deserved rest. Tomorrow we tackle the rest of this frozen wasteland.”

Shnee nodded in silent agreement, her hand resting comfortably on the pommel of her newly tested Heavenly Silver rapier. The month-long, grueling sparring session we had conducted in the hidden basalt valley had completely transformed her combat posture. She no longer moved like an assassin bound by traditional guild forms; her movements were fluid, effortless, and perfectly synchronized with the physical lines of force of the environment.

Kaede, meanwhile, was already counting the loot in her mind, her antennae wiggling enthusiastically as she pinged the pouch at my waist.

”Boss, te fioletowe rdzenie esencji z goliatów są gęste jak lity ołów!” she chirped in Polish, her eyes sparkling. ”Silas jak to zobaczy, to przeliteruje całą księgę rachunkową z wrażenia! Może wyciągniemy od niego premie na ekstra przyprawy do ramenu!”

”Silas will handle the ledger, kid,” I answered with a dry, brazen smile in Polish. ”Our job is simply to keep delivering the raw capital and clearing the path.”

I placed my hand on the Sapphire Prism. Space warped around us with a quiet, high-voltage hiss, swallowing our trio and carrying us back to the warmth, comfort, and security of our base.

The eighty-fourth floor was officially cleared, and our unstoppable machine of destruction was ready for the final conquest of the ninth ten.
