Naruto: Becoming the Soul King

”I’m pretty talented at controlling Chakra, but it still took me two months to completely perfect it...”

Seiryū rubbed Kurenai’s head, signaling that she shouldn’t get too proud. He was still being modest.

Then he looked at Jiraiya and asked, ”By the way, Jiraiya-sama, can you tell the difference between my Monster Strength Fist and Lady Tsunade’s?”

Jiraiya thought for a moment, then explained, ”There’s definitely a difference. How should I put it… your Monster Strength Fist is similar to Tsunade’s, but also distinct.”

”Tsunade’s technique has greater destructive power, while yours leans more toward concussive force...”

The principles were the same, but the development had diverged, each having its own strengths.

Seiryū nodded. ”Concussive force? You mean stronger penetration?”

Hado #1: Sho was originally designed to send out a shockwave that caused internal damage. Since his version of the Monster Strength Fist incorporated that technique, it naturally gained similar traits.

So concussive force must refer to penetration, right?

Jiraiya was stunned for a second, then sighed.

To pick up on something like that so quickly… this kid’s thinking was sharp beyond belief.

”...” Seiryū didn’t respond. He was already used to being called a genius. Instead, he asked, ”Jiraiya-sama, do you think there are any areas where my Monster Strength Fist could still be improved?”

Seiryū still respected Jiraiya’s ability to teach.

In fact, in his mind, Jiraiya’s teaching skills were on par with Kaido-sensei—who could help students learn Ryuo in one strike, awaken Haoshoku Haki in two, and break through in three.

Just look at the monsters Jiraiya’s disciples had become. He was undeniably a renowned teacher.

His only failure was training Naruto for two years and teaching him… nothing. But you couldn’t really blame him. That was before the system update, back when Chakra nature transformation hadn’t even been introduced yet.

Don’t blame Jiraiya for that one!

Jiraiya shook his head. ”No improvement needed. The technique is already complete. Since it’s fundamentally different from Tsunade’s, there’s no point comparing which one is better. What you lack right now is... age.”

Neither technique was superior. Their focuses were just different, so there was no way to directly compare them.

If anything was lacking, it was that Seiryū was still too young to bring out the full power of the technique.

Seiryū blinked. ”Really?”

No need for improvement? The Monster Strength Fist he developed himself was that complete?

Not bad. That gave Seiryū a great sense of accomplishment.

As expected of him!

Jiraiya had no idea what he was thinking, but suddenly made a proposal. ”Seiryū, how about becoming this Sage’s disciple? With your potential, if you’re guided by a good teacher, your future achievements could surpass everyone’s imagination.”

Because of the Great Toad Sage’s prophecy, Jiraiya had always been searching for the Child of Prophecy who would change the ninja world. And now, he was starting to think that Seiryū might be the one.

This level of talent and potential… it even surpassed Minato, who he had always held in high regard.

It was close to Nagato—his other ”deceased” disciple who awakened the Rinnegan...

”Uh...” Seiryū was taken aback. That was a bit sudden.

Did he think he was the Child of Prophecy?

Don’t joke. A transmigrator was leagues above any Child of Prophecy or Chosen One. Maybe even the Great Toad Sage couldn’t predict the future anymore.

Transmigrators were just that powerful!

Still, Seiryū started to think—becoming Jiraiya’s disciple really seemed like a win with no downside.

”Hmm...” Kurenai, standing nearby, stared at Jiraiya suspiciously.

Then she looked at Seiryū and asked nervously, ”Seiryū, Seiryū, if you become Jiraiya-sama’s disciple, you won’t turn bad, right? You won’t start peeping, will you?”

She was genuinely worried. If Seiryū became the disciple of this Peeping Tom, this Pervy Sage, one of the Sannin—would he go bad?

She really didn’t want to see Seiryū go down a dark path doing filthy things like peeping!

Jiraiya: ”...”

He already said he wasn’t a Peeping Tom. Why didn’t this little girl believe him?

Kids these days were getting harder to fool.

And what did she mean Seiryū would ”turn bad” and start peeping if he became his disciple?

This was slander! Slander against Jiraiya of the Sannin!!

Minato: ”...”

He felt like he’d been shot for no reason… all thanks to his own teacher.

A wave of silent frustration. Could his teacher just act normal for once?

Peeking under the excuse of ”research material” was still not acceptable!

”...” Seiryū lightly flicked Kurenai’s forehead. Give the man some face, would you?

He sighed, ”What are you even thinking? Jiraiya-sama isn’t that kind of person…”

Okay, he couldn’t finish that sentence seriously.

Still, putting aside Jiraiya’s perverted tendencies, he really was a charismatic person. His death in the original timeline had been a tragic one.

Kurenai muttered, ”Isn’t he?”

Seiryū pretended not to hear. He bowed slightly to Jiraiya and smiled. ”Jiraiya-sama, may I have some time to think about it? This was all very sudden, and I also need to explain things to the elders at home...”

”Hahaha!” Jiraiya laughed and waved his hand casually. ”Of course. Becoming a disciple isn’t a small matter. You should definitely talk it over with your elders.”

This kid wasn’t just talented. He was also careful and measured in his actions.

If it had been anyone else, they’d have agreed on the spot. But this one actually said he wanted to discuss it with his elders first… rare, truly rare.

Seiryū smiled. ”Alright.”

Becoming Jiraiya’s disciple really was a great option. Plus, he’d probably have the chance to learn Sage Art in the future...

”...” Kurenai pouted. Though she still had some complaints about Jiraiya, she knew what the title ”Sannin” meant.

She wouldn’t object to whatever choice Seiryū made.

She’d just been reminding him earlier. She was thoughtful and not stubborn!

Minato was also a bit surprised at his teacher’s proposal, but after thinking it over, he didn’t find it strange. He smiled at Seiryū. ”If you become Sensei’s disciple, we’ll be martial brothers.”

Kushina really liked Seiryū, her little brother from the same clan.

Minato also had a good impression of him. Having a junior martial brother like this sounded pretty nice. He smiled and said, ”Think it over carefully, Seiryū.”

Seiryū nodded. ”I will.”

”Then we won’t disturb your Ninjutsu training. I’ll explain the situation to my elders once I get home.” He then turned to leave, taking Kurenai with him.

Watching them go, Jiraiya sighed. ”Kids these days… they’re getting harder and harder to fool.”

Minato said helplessly, ”Sensei, please stop doing things like that from now on.”

Jiraiya waved it off. ”That was for research. Don’t you understand? Research material.”

”...” Minato was speechless.

He didn’t understand. He had a girlfriend, and if he dared to try something like that, he’d probably be beaten half to death…
