Naruto: Becoming the Soul King

”You want me to guide your taijutsu training?”

Shinku, who was preparing dinner, looked slightly surprised when he heard Seiryū’s request.

This child was really too competitive. After thinking it over, Shinku felt that the timing was about right anyway, so he did not refuse. ”By my estimation, it’s almost time. Starting a bit earlier is fine. You can train together with Kurenai tonight.”

Proceeding step by step was how ordinary students learned, but if an elder in the family was a ninja, starting earlier was naturally possible.

Being one step ahead was also an advantage.

As for Seiryū’s talent, he was simply a monster and could not be judged by normal standards. Moreover, Shinku had seen how hard Seiryū worked. Since Seiryū wanted to learn taijutsu, he naturally would not refuse. Instead, he felt that Seiryū was full of motivation, completely different from the dispirited Seiryū of before. The child had grown up.

After dinner.

In the backyard.

”Taijutsu, simply put, is using the body to attack. The most basic taijutsu usually consists of only a few movements,” Shinku began explaining the fundamentals to the two children.

He paused, then continued, ”After you master the basics, you refine your taijutsu according to your own circumstances. This is usually done through actual combat.”

The most basic taijutsu involved only those few movements for practice. Only after reaching a certain level of proficiency would actual combat training begin.

Through real combat, techniques were gradually refined and eventually evolved into a taijutsu style best suited to oneself.

Shinku continued, ”Different people have different taijutsu styles. For example, the Hyuga clan’s inherited Gentle Fist, the Uchiha clan’s taijutsu that combines technique and aesthetics, and the unyielding, fierce, and domineering Strong Fist.”

”Generally speaking, ninja do not focus primarily on taijutsu. Ninjutsu and genjutsu are the main paths. That’s because taijutsu takes much longer to cultivate than ninjutsu or genjutsu, so very few ninja specialize in it.”

Taijutsu was an indispensable method of attack for a ninja, but few people devoted themselves entirely to it.

Simply put, the cost performance was low. With the same amount of time, it was better to learn more ninjutsu and genjutsu.

The lethality of ninjutsu and genjutsu far exceeded that of taijutsu. This was common sense among many ninja.

Seiryū naturally understood this point.

The basics of taijutsu were not difficult, but mastering it was not easy.

It required long term refinement of the body. The monotony and pain of tempering the physique were not something everyone could endure.

Without great perseverance, it was impossible to succeed.

Shinku smiled and said, ”It’s too early for you to form your own combat style. You just need to build a solid foundation and slowly find the path that suits you. There’s no need to rush.”

”Next, I’ll demonstrate the basic taijutsu movements for you.”

With that, Shinku demonstrated the basic taijutsu.

They were similar to military combat techniques, consisting of about a dozen movements. Straight punches, elbow strikes, leg sweeps, retreating steps, and more.

Although basic, they were not simple. As long as one mastered them proficiently, they could form a respectable level of combat ability.

After watching Shinku’s demonstration, a system prompt suddenly sounded in Seiryū’s mind.

[Ding. Zanjutsu, Hakuda, Hoho, and Kido are the four basic combat techniques of a Shinigami. As the future Soul King who will rule the Three Realms, the Host must perfectly master the Shinigami’s basic combat techniques. The Host will begin as a Shinigami and gradually advance toward the honored status of Soul King.]

[New Quest Received: Master the Four Basic Techniques of Zanjutsu, Hakuda, Hoho, and Kido.]

[Quest Reward: Basic Technique Hakuda Talent Enhancement.]

The system prompt made Seiryū freeze for a moment, and a phrase slipped out instinctively. ”Holy crap.”

The system actually triggered two quests in a single day?

Sure enough, triggering quests had specific conditions. If only he could figure out the exact pattern.

Shinku did not understand what Seiryū’s sudden exclamation meant. ”Hmm?”

Kurenai also turned her head and asked curiously, ”Crap what?”

”Uh…” Seiryū snapped back to his senses.

He waved his hand casually at the two people staring at him. ”It’s nothing. My brain just glitched for a moment. You know how I am.”

The two of them fell silent.

So Seiryū himself knew that he sometimes behaved strangely?

Then why would he still act like that?

Father and daughter exchanged glances, understanding the meaning in each other’s eyes. Could it be that Seiryū really had some kind of mental issue?

”Maybe when Lady Tsunade returns to the village, I should take Seiryū to see her and see if it can be treated,” Shinku thought seriously, feeling that this was not a trivial matter.

Seiryū had no idea that Shinku had already started treating him as a patient. His attention was completely focused on the quest.

He pondered inwardly. ”Zanjutsu, Hakuda, Hoho, Kido. Does Hakuda correspond to taijutsu? Then Zanjutsu should correspond to kenjutsu, Kido to ninjutsu, and Hoho to the Body Flicker Technique?”

”There are similarities after all, so I don’t need to worry about failing the quest.”

Thinking about it this way, Seiryū found quite a few parallels between the worlds of Shinigami and ninja.

Is everything under the sun the same?

Pfft. This is called borrowing inspiration. How could a cultured person call it copying?

”But it’s another talent enhancement, helping me reach the honored status of Soul King. Does that mean it only enhances my talent and gives me the innate potential to become the Soul King?”

Looking at the quest rewards, Seiryū noticed a crucial detail.

Several times now, the system had not directly given him power.

The enhancement of spiritual power aptitude and the enhancement of Hakuda talent both strengthened innate abilities.

Even the Kido technique, Bakudo 1 # Sai, only granted him knowledge of its principles and execution.

To use it well, he still needed to rely on his own effort. It was not something achieved overnight.

Compared to systems that directly bestowed power, his system was truly different.

”Starting as a Shinigami. If I remember correctly, becoming the Soul King and serving as the wedge requires several conditions. Being a Shinigami is only one of them.”

”That’s interesting. Will it eventually bring out Quincies, Hollows, and Fullbringers as well? If so, I wonder what form they would take in this world.”

Seiryū remembered that in the original work, only a few people were capable of replacing the Soul King and becoming the wedge.

Kurosaki Ichigo was the most suitable because he was the most unique, possessing multiple powers at once. He was a hybrid.

If the system truly intended to cultivate Seiryū into a new Soul King, then it would have to fulfill those conditions.

This made Seiryū curious. If it was possible, how would those powers manifest?

Ultimately, it returned to the same question. In the Bleach world, the system that led to becoming the Soul King might be a trap. One could be tricked into becoming the Soul King, serving as the wedge, and being sealed motionless inside a diamond shaped crystal.

But in this ninja world, Seiryū did not have too many worries.

Could he really be sealed inside the Soul King Palace’s crystal in this world?

Ridiculous.
