Chapter 695: Chapter 696: Full Moon Swordsmanship (Third Update)

Ashi had been racking his brains in meditation over the flaws in his swordsmanship, yet he had no clue whatsoever.

Lin Chen’s words made Ashi’s eyes light up, ”You’ve spotted the flaw in my swordsmanship?”

The Full Moon Swordsmanship of Ashi’s family had always been invincible, but the old ancestor once said that this set of techniques had an irreparable deficiency.

The Full Moon Swordsmanship had been passed down through several generations and had been mastered by several experts, yet no one had found this deficiency.

But now Lin Chen was claiming to have located the flaw within the swordsmanship, how could Ashi not be shocked!

At this moment, Lin Chen jumped down from the rock and laughingly said, ”Of course, who am I? A peerless master indeed!”

The popularity system inside Lin Chen’s head complained, ”It was clearly me who found the flaw, yet you are using it to hit on a girl, that’s just not right.”

”Hey, big brother, you’re a system, right? I’ll find you a system chick later to mingle with; let me handle this beauty!” Lin Chen retorted.

Ashi bowed to Lin Chen with clasped fists, ”Brother Lin Chen, please enlighten me.”

Lin Chen, with an expression of profound mystery, said, ”All human cultivation techniques are derived from nature, and your Full Moon Swordsmanship is no different. Since you can’t find the flaw in your own swordsmanship, perhaps you should take a look at the moon above.”

However, as soon as Lin Chen finished speaking, he realized that he may have been pretentious to a fault.

The other person was blind, yet he was asking him to look at the moon; wasn’t this asking for trouble? Just as Lin Chen felt awkward, he saw Ashi opening his eyes and gazing at the moon in the sky.

”The moon tonight is indeed beautiful and very round, but what kind of profound truths does it contain that relate to the Full Moon Swordsmanship?” Ashi said with a puzzled gaze at the bright moon.

Lin Chen was dumbfounded, ”Aren’t you blind, Ashi?”

”Who said I’m blind? I just haven’t opened my eyes, that’s all,” Ashi responded indifferently.

”Ashi, if there’s nothing wrong with your eyes, why pretend to be blind? You have no idea how beautiful and enchanting your big eyes are.”

Ashi’s large eyes were as clear as crystal, and his black pupils seemed to speak, the kind of sparkling that made it hard for anyone not to be moved.

”The reason I have always kept my eyes closed is to practice our family’s Heart Eye Technique, a cultivation technique that can only be practiced with closed eyes,” Ashi explained with a smile.

”So that’s it! I didn’t know there was such a cultivation technique,” Lin Chen couldn’t help but marvel at the great lengths Ashi went to for this technique.

”Brother Lin Chen, can you please quickly tell me about the flaws in my swordsmanship?” Ashi asked urgently, her beautiful eyes fixated on Lin Chen.

Lin Chen nodded, took the staff sword from Ashi’s hands, and began practicing on the sandy beach.

To Ashi’s astonishment, Lin Chen had actually managed to perform her Full Moon Swordsmanship.

Ashi knew that she had been practicing this set of swordsmanship for more than ten years before she had become very proficient, yet Lin Chen had surpassed her after only watching her practice a few times.

For some reason, watching Lin Chen perform the Full Moon Swordsmanship, Ashi felt that even though the moves were the same, they were more powerful than when she executed them.

If it could be said that her Full Moon Swordsmanship had only achieved form, Lin Chen’s Full Moon Swordsmanship encompassed both form and spirit.

Bang!

As Lin Chen performed the Full Moon Swordsmanship, sand and rocks flew about on the beach, forming a circle around him.

”My God, he has actually perfected the Full Moon Swordsmanship to such a degree, how is that possible?”

It was known that even the old ancestor had not fully comprehended this set of swordsmanship, but Lin Chen had managed to grasp it.

As Lin Chen performed the sword dance, he explained to Ashi.

The essence of the Full Moon Swordsmanship is not about relentless attack but about harmony; the flaw in your swordsmanship is because it lacks this harmony.Finding the flaw as she practiced, a wave of enlightenment washed over Phen as she observed the movements.

”Harmony?”

Ashi thoughtfully looked up at the full moon in the sky.

Lin Chen continued, ”The ancient saying goes ’the moon has its phases of wax and wane.’ Its shape changes unpredictably throughout the seasons—sometimes full, sometimes half, and even at times, crescent-shaped.”

Ashi gazed thoughtfully at Lin Chen’s swordsmanship.

Lin Chen’s voice rose again, ”Just as the moon waxes and wanes, sword moves have their limits and extents, and there are moments when they are full and complete.”

As Ashi watched Lin Chen’s sword movements, she pondered his words.

”Containing solidity in voidness and voidness in solidity, this is the essence of swordsmanship, not the relentless assault like your battle with the General. Only in this way can the swordsmanship be brought to its ultimate expression!”

As his words ended, the sword in Lin Chen’s hand suddenly swung out.

”Boom!”

A surge of Sword Qi emitted from the sword, actually cleaving through the waves.

”Such powerful Sword Qi!” Ashi had never seen anyone perform the Full Moon Swordsmanship to such a degree.

Lin Chen exhaled and handed the sword staff to Ashi.

Ashi received the sword and gave Lin Chen a deep bow.

At night, Lin Chen stood by the window, watching Ashi practice her sword on the beach.

”Boom!”

Accompanied by a muffled sound, a surge of Sword Qi suddenly burst forth, churning the waves on the sea surface.

A faint smile crossed Lin Chen’s lips, ”It’s done.”

The next day, Lin Chen and Ashi went again to General Luo De’s residence.

On the trial ground, Luo De and Ashi both blindfolded their eyes once more.

The battle began, and Luo De immediately sensed the change in Ashi’s technique upon engaging.

Yesterday, Ashi’s moves were all about fierce attack, but this time her attacks had a clear sense of rhythm.

This rhythm, sometimes fast and sometimes slow, made Luo De very uncomfortable.

Sword shadows and blade shadows weaved through the trial ground, when suddenly Qima exclaimed in surprise, ”Look! Ashi’s swordsmanship is just like the moon.”

They saw Ashi’s sword shadow sometimes resembling a half-moon, sometimes like a crescent, and when about a hundred exchanges had passed, suddenly, compelling Sword Qi filled the trial ground, and a perfect full moon appeared.

As the full moon materialized, accompanied by a ’ding’ of sword ringing, the General’s blade was sent flying directly by Ashi.

Both competitors leapt out of the fray, and the General removed his blindfold, looking at Ashi in astonishment.

”Miss Ashi, I did not expect that in just one night, your strength could have improved so much,” Luo De said in amazement.

Ashi smiled faintly, ”General Luo De was lenient with me. If he used dual blades, I would stand no chance against the General.”

Luo De returned the smile faintly, ”Enough, a loss is a loss. Tomorrow, you may observe the brocade box up close at the military headquarters.”

”Thank you, General Luo De!” Ashi said delightedly.

In fact, Lin Chen thought amusingly, ”The secret of that brocade box has long been obtained by me. Now, that brocade box is at best a fine antique.”

Just as Lin Chen and Ashi had left, a dark figure appeared in front of Luo De.

”Have you found out who this Ashi is?” Luo De asked coldly.

”General, this Ashi is the eldest daughter of the Oda family, a Japanese Sword Dao clan. However, it is said that their family descends from those who stayed in Japan after Xu Fu’s eastward journey across the sea. Therefore, their ancestral ship’s origin is traceable,” the person in black said solemnly.

”Very well, I understand. Keep a close watch on her tomorrow. This woman is no ordinary individual,” Luo De said coldly.
