Super Strong Little Divine Farmer

Chapter 632: Chapter 633: Midnight Snack

Although Lin Chen was banished to the living room, his ears remained tuned to the cacophony coming from the kitchen.

He was honestly scared of Wei Ling as he was very worried that this sister might set the kitchen on fire again.

Thus, Lin Chen heard mutterings that almost made him spit blood.

”How come this salt is sweet? Could it be that I just put in sugar instead of salt?”

”Why has this meat turned black? Oh no, I forgot to put oil in while frying the meat.”

...

Smelling the burnt scent wafting from the kitchen, Lin Chen felt a tearful urge, foreseeing that there was no escape from disaster tonight.

Before long, Wei Ling brought in something pitch-dark that she referred to as ”wood ear pork.”

Looking at the disastrous wood ear pork, Lin Chen felt a major catastrophe approaching.

Seeing Lin Chen’s grim expression, Wei Ling stiffened her pretty face, ”What’s wrong? Do you despise the dish I cooked because it’s not pretty?”

Lin Chen stared at the wood ear pork, his mind filled with critique—your cooking isn’t just unappealing; it’s a sight for sore eyes.

Of course, Lin Chen wouldn’t dare to say what he really thought. Just as he was fishing with his chopsticks for a piece he could possibly eat, the door suddenly opened, and Xu Jiayi walked in from outside.

Seeing Xu Jiayi come in, Lin Chen’s eyes brightened, and he quickly put down his chopsticks.

”Jiayi, you’re back, come have some supper, this is specially prepared by Sister Ling for us.”

”Supper, that’s great, I didn’t have dinner, and I’m really hungry!” Xu Jiayi said excitedly as she came to the dining table after changing into slippers.

However, her face changed drastically at the sight of the pitch-dark dishes on the table, ”Did Sister Ling make this?”

Lin Chen nodded vigorously, ”Yes, have a seat, Jiayi. Don’t judge these dishes by their looks; they are delicious. Sister Ling said she prepared this supper specially for you because you work so hard every day. Don’t let her effort go to waste!”

Xu Jiayi glared fiercely at Lin Chen and let out a dry laugh, ”Actually, I had quite a full dinner. I’ll head back to my room now, Lin Chen, you enjoy the meal.”

Lin Chen grabbed Xu Jiayi as she tried to slip away, ”Don’t go, good things should be shared!”

Just then, Wei Ling just happened to bring up another dish called Kung Pao chicken, which should have been brightly colored, but somehow she turned it pitch black as well.

”Jiayi, you came back just in time, come and try my cooking.”

Angry, Xu Jiayi glared at Lin Chen again and reluctantly sat down.

Lin Chen, with a mischievous grin, picked up a piece of the black wood ear pork, ”Jiayi, you work so hard, eat more.”

Xu Jiayi looked at the pitch-black substance on the plate, her appetite vanishing instantly. She quickly picked up a bite of the black Kung Pao chicken and brought it to Lin Chen’s mouth, ”You too, always out early and back late, let your sister feed you.”

Their actions were filled with ambiguity.

Lin Chen looked at the Kung Pao chicken Xu Jiayi held to his face, speechless.

He wanted to push it away, but seeing Wei Ling staring at him coldly from the side, he reluctantly opened his mouth and ate it.

Lin Chen chewed it in his mouth, then suddenly his eyes lit up, ”Wow, who would have thought? Though it looks unappealing, it’s actually quite tasty!”

Xu Jiayi looked skeptically at the delighted expression on Lin Chen’s face and also took a bite.

However, the moment the wood ear pork entered her mouth, Xu Jiayi’s face dramatically changed, and she immediately spat it out.

”Isn’t this way too salty? How much salt did Sister Ling put in here?”

”The taste is simply, unforgettable after one bite, it’s so awful that it’s probably hard to make something this bad.”

Lin Chen wore an expression of enjoyment, whereas Xu Jiayi looked the opposite; the contrast between the two expressions was stark.

At that moment, Lin Chen picked up another piece of Kung Pao chicken and popped it into his mouth, ”Jiayi, how can you be like this? Sis Ling’s cooking is really delicious!”

Sis Ling glanced at Lin Chen, then at Xu Jiayi, ”Hmph, it’s only Chen who gives me face. From now on, I’ll just dote on Chen.”

”Jiayi sis, it’s not that I’m not giving you face, but this dish is really too salty,” Xu Jiayi said with a face full of grievance.

Lin Chen chuckled, ”Actually Jiayi, you just haven’t tasted the right dish. This Kung Pao chicken is truly tasty.”

As he spoke, he scooped up a spoonful for Xu Jiayi, ”Open up, this time your brother guarantees it’s delicious.”

”No way, you take a big bite first then I’ll eat!” Xu Jiayi blinked as she spoke.

”Alright, no problem,” Lin Chen nodded, picked up a spoonful, and ate a big bite.

Lin Chen ate it with such relish that Xu Jiayi actually started to feel a little envious.

Wei Ling was even more excited, it seemed that her cooking really was delicious, otherwise Lin Chen wouldn’t have such an enjoyable expression!

Finally, Xu Jiayi gathered the courage and also took a spoonful into her mouth.

Instantly, the expression on Xu Jiayi’s face turned spectacular, and then she suddenly stood and ran toward the bathroom.

Watching the embarrassing debacle of Xu Jiayi, Lin Chen was nearly choking with laughter.

He indeed had eaten the dish Sis Ling cooked, but something temporarily deprived his taste system of its function, so no matter how terrible the food was, it was tasteless in his mouth.

However, it wasn’t the same for Xu Jiayi. How could she endure such strong flavors that Sis Ling cooked?

Seeing Xu Jiayi’s expression, Wei Ling’s face also turned ugly, was her cooking really that bad?

She picked up some chopsticks and took a piece of Kung Pao chicken into her mouth.

”Pfft!”

The taste was simply awful. How could she have made something this bad!

Wei Ling threw the chopsticks down on the table with a crestfallen look.

Lin Chen patted Wei Ling’s shoulder, ”Don’t be disheartened, Sis Ling. I’ll teach you later and definitely help you make exquisite dishes.”

Xu Jiayi came out from the bathroom, her face showing shock as she looked at Lin Chen, ”How could you chew that stuff with such relish?”

Lin Chen smiled smugly, ”Brother, of course, has his secrets, who asked you to trick me first.”

However, no sooner had Lin Chen finished speaking than he felt a twist in his stomach, ”Not good, my stomach is reacting.”

Lin Chen finally realized the potency of Wei Ling’s cooking; he visited the bathroom no less than ten times that night.

It was already daylight when Lin Chen finally fell asleep, but just as he did, his phone suddenly began to ring.

The call was from Xiao Ru, ”Team Leader Lin, we’re supposed to go to Dr. Xiao Ru’s house to check some documents. You haven’t forgotten, right?”

Lin Chen nodded, ”How could I forget? I’m getting up right now.”

Yawning, Lin Chen quickly washed up, changed his clothes, and left the villa.

As Lin Chen got into the car, he looked exhausted.

”What? Didn’t sleep well last night?” Xiao Ru asked Lin Chen beside her.

”Yeah, it was okay, I’m going to sleep for a bit now, just wake me when we get there,” Lin Chen yawned and immediately lay back in the seat and fell asleep.

”This guy, he must have gone out chasing girls last night again,” Xiao Ru looked at the sleeping Lin Chen with a scornful expression.
