Super Strong Little Divine Farmer

Chapter 612: Chapter 613: Arrogant Baal

Lin Chen looked at Lu Dong, who lay silently on the hospital bed, feeling somewhat conflicted.

Although Lu Dong was a bad person, Lin Chen still felt rather sympathetic towards his prior misfortunes.

His downfall was essentially a setup, as he was lured step by step into a trap designed by others, transforming from an excellent people’s police officer into an accomplice of a criminal syndicate.

Initially, Lin Chen had promised to honor him with the treatment due a martyr as long as he confessed everything necessary, though now that Lu Dong was dead, it wouldn’t matter if he failed to keep his promise.

But since Lin Chen had promised, he would fulfill it even though Lu Dong had died.

Lin Chen had touched base with Dragon in the country and identified him as a police officer who had died undercover in T-country.

After all, Lu Dong had ended up in this situation while handling a case that had led him into the enemy’s snare, so Dragon had also coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security to fulfill this wish of Lu Dong’s.

They said Lu Dong had died by suicide, holding the cellphone Lin Chen had left him, with recorded video messages from his wife and son still on it, and a sweet smile on his lips.

Lin Chen knew the reason Lu Dong had died so calmly and contentedly was because Lin Chen had given him a noble end, the status of a martyr, which was a decent resolution for his wife and child.

Lin Chen said to Qima, ”Have his family notified to come here, and be sure to keep the details of his life a secret from his wife.”

Qima nodded, ”Understood, I will arrange everything properly.”

With Lu Dong’s wish finally fulfilled, he had done everything he could for Lu Dong.

However, walking out of the hospital, Lin Chen could not find joy in his heart, having witnessed too many deaths in recent days.

Especially the massacre of an entire village. Although it was not closely related to him, it was still too blood-soaked and unsettling for Lin Chen, who had always lived in peaceful times.

Just as Lin Chen was feeling irritated, suddenly, a mocking laugh rang out, and he found himself surrounded by a dozen burly men.

”Lin Chen, what a small world, to think we’d bump into each other here,” a chilly voice sounded.

Lin Chen looked up, only to see Ba Fei glaring at him with fiery eyes.

Seeing Lin Chen, Ba Fei remembered the humiliation he suffered in the bar a few days ago and couldn’t help feeling furiously angry.

Lin Chen looked at Ba Fei teasingly, and said with a light smile, ”Well, if it isn’t the mighty boxing champion. What, didn’t get enough of a beating last time and itching for more?”

”Kid, last time was last time, this time you’re definitely dead,” Ba Fei glared at Lin Chen with intense killing intent in his eyes.

”Oh, is all this bravado because you have these little punks by your side? Do you think having these good-for-nothings with you will make any difference compared to last time?” Lin Chen mocked, looking at the thugs behind Ba Fei.

”Damn it, he just called us good-for-nothings.”

”You asking for it, kid? If we don’t mess you up today, we might as well have never been in the game.”

Lin Chen’s taunts turned the thugs’ faces an iron blue, with some already eager to start a fight.

Just then, an arrogant voice came from the entrance: ”Which idiot dares to show off on my turf, looking for death?”

At the entrance of the restaurant, a man with sunglasses and a cigar hanging from his mouth, surrounded by a group of underlings, swaggered over.

Lin Chen couldn’t help but laugh when he saw who was coming out from behind. It was an old acquaintance, Ba Fei, whom he had previously extorted.

It seemed that he and Ba Fei had quite the destiny, meeting again just after a few days.

When Ba Fei caught sight of Lin Chen standing among the crowd, his hand trembled, and the cigar he had just taken a few drags from dropped to the ground.

Last time, Ba Fei was extorted by Lin Chen to the brink of bankruptcy, and since then he prayed incessantly that he would never encounter this calamity again.

Whether it was insincerity or something else, within just a few days, the two had met again.

Ba Li was a famous boxer in Country T, though in a second-tier league. Knowing someone like that, Ba Fei could at least boast about being friends with a boxer. However, seeing Lin Chen, he immediately regretted encountering this harbinger of disaster.

Ba Fei gave Ba Li, who was still standing arrogantly before him, a cold glance, seething with resentment.

”Dammit, instead of focusing on boxing in the ring, you had to play tough guy out here. And of all people to mess with, you had to provoke this fierce deity.”

What infuriated Ba Fei the most was that just a few days ago, this guy had been beaten up, yet he hadn’t learned his lesson. Instead of avoiding Lin Chen, he was here showing off; such a person was either asking for a beating or missing a few screws in his head.

At this moment, Ba Li was blissfully unaware of the awkward expression on Ba Fei’s face behind him, nor did he realize how dumbfounded Ba Fei was after seeing Lin Chen. Thinking Ba Fei had come out to back him up, Ba Li felt even more confident.

With an air of superiority, he said to Lin Chen, ”Kid, do you see who’s behind me? That’s my big brother Ba Fei. Let me tell you, this whole area of East City is his territory. His men, if not in the thousands, are at least several hundred-strong. With just one word, he could have you killed without a trace.”

After hearing Ba Li’s words, Lin Chen had no reaction, but Ba Fei was scared out of his wits.

Ba Fei knew all too well the temper of Lin Chen, this ancestor figure, who could make outrageous demands at the drop of a hat. If Lin Chen seized the opportunity to extort him again, that would be disastrous.

What chilled him to the bone was the smiling gaze of Lin Chen fixed directly on him.

”Yo, Brother Ba Fei, it’s been days. You’ve gone up in the world, huh? Now you’re brothers with a boxing champ. By the way, your brother here just said he’s going to leave me dead with no body left.”

The corner of Ba Fei’s mouth twitched, and the cigar that his underling had picked up for him slipped from his grasp onto the ground once again.

At that moment, Ba Li, thinking his moment of triumph was at hand, didn’t notice Ba Fei was almost scared to pee.

Now Ba Li grew more and more arrogant, pointing at Lin Chen and proclaiming, ”You kneel down and kowtow ten times, calling out ’Grandpa’ each time. I could break your legs and spare your life. Otherwise, you’re a dead man today.”

”Oh? I’m a dead man, huh? Please enlighten me on how exactly I’m supposed to meet my end,” Lin Chen asked with interest.

Seeing Lin Chen still smiling as if nothing was wrong, Ba Li was nearly driven to rage, ”Kill you, then feed your flesh to the dogs.”

”Wow, that’s harsh. Hearing you say it like that, I’m actually kind of scared,” Lin Chen said with a chuckle.

”Scared, ha! Lin Chen, you’ve finally met your match; now kneel before me!” Ba Li roared triumphantly.

”It’s not myself I’m worried about. I’m concerned that in a moment, you’ll look too pitiful to watch,” Lin Chen said with indifference.

Hearing Lin Chen’s words, Ba Li’s expression turned even more ferocious, and he turned to Ba Fei to shout, ”Brother Fei, have the boys move in. Chop his legs off for me.”
