Chapter 628: Chapter 629: Teaching You How to Play with Fire

Lin Chen and Xiao Ru left Ke Li’s house when the sound of a broadcast came from the car radio.

”Recently, the chairman of the Pei Lai family, Mr. Pei Lai Ge, announced the division of the Pei Lai family business into three parts, to be given to his three sons. Moreover, Mr. Pei Lai Ge has officially stepped down from the management of the Pei Lai Group today. This change will mark a new beginning for the Pei Lai family. Experts have pointed out...”

Listening to the voice on the radio, Lin Chen frowned and said, ”It’s finally starting. Looks like the storm within the Pei Lai family is about to hit.”

”Xiao Ru, how about we grab some late-night food?” Lin Chen asked with a smile.

”I’m not as free as you are. I still have a lot of data to sort through,” Xiao Ru said, giving Lin Chen a glance.

”Why are all you women workaholics? Xu Jiayi is one, and so are you. Sigh!” Lin Chen exhaled.

”It’s because of you lazy men that we are so busy,” Xiao Ru huffed.

After dropping Xiao Ru off at the headquarters, Lin Chen prepared to go back to the villa feeling bored in the car.

Just then, the roaring sound of a car engine came from behind.

The noise was very urgent, which clearly indicated that the car had accelerated to its limit.

”Whoosh!” A black Mercedes-Benz business sedan swiftly Passed in front of Lin Chen’s car.

Behind that business sedan, several cars were also speeding rapidly, evidently in pursuit of it.

”Bang! Bang! Bang!” At that moment, someone in the following cars leaned out and fired shots at the car ahead.

Using his X-ray vision, Lin Chen recognized that the woman sitting in the business sedan was the beautiful Susan he had met at the gym.

”Ah, it figures. You always have to pay for the things you get mixed up with,” Lin Chen sighed reluctantly.

At that moment, the tires of the business sedan were shot, and the car swayed erratically.

The driver of the business sedan struggled to control the vehicle, drove off the road, and headed into a desolate area.

However, the chase did not stop; shots were fired again, and another tire of the business sedan was hit, making the car sway and suddenly come to a stop.

Four men in black then jumped out of the business sedan, protecting Susan as they rushed toward the woods.

Those in pursuit quickly surrounded them.

From the vehicles, about a dozen burly men emerged, each wielding machetes and menacingly chasing after them.

The four burly men stopped, looked at their pursuers, and said sternly, ”Miss, you go ahead. We’ll hold off these bastards.”

”Wei Long! There are so many of them... you guys...”

The resolve in the eyes of the four burly men was clear: ”Miss, our lives were given by you. We would have no regrets dying for your sake.”

With that, the four burly men each pulled out a baton from their waists and charged at the dozen or so men in black.

The machete-wielding men quickly surrounded them in the middle.

”Kill!”

The four bodyguards, fearless, engaged in battle with the group.

Although outnumbered, these four bodyguards were battle-hardened warriors, so they did not falter despite being at a numerical disadvantage.

The group of burly men were not disorganized; they coordinated well and struck with vicious force.

Soon, the four bodyguards had knocked down four or five of the pursuing assassins, but they themselves had been slashed several times, bleeding profusely.

Meanwhile, two of the bodyguards had bypassed the group and were chasing after Susan.

By this time, Susan had run more than ten meters, but being a woman, she was obviously slower than the two men chasing her, and they were getting closer.

Seeing Susan in danger, the four men unleashed a powerful assault.

”Bang, bang, bang!” Soon they had knocked down the other assassins pursuing them and pounced on the two men.

Together, the four of them quickly took down the two assassins as well.

At this time, all four bodyguards were severely wounded, ”Miss, let’s go.”

Weilong wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and said.

”Tsk Tsk, go, where do you think you’re going?” Just then, a red-haired young man suddenly appeared behind them.

Seeing the new arrival, the faces of Weilong’s group suddenly changed.

”Miss, run! We’ll hold him off,” Weilong and the others gritted their teeth and charged at the red-haired youth.

”Courting death,” the red-haired youth snorted coldly, and a fierce flame ignited in his hand.

”Boom!” Accompanied by the explosion of a lotus of fire, the four men vanished into thin air.

”Ah!”

Witnessing this terrifying scene, Susan’s face suddenly turned pale as she desperately ran towards the jungle.

However, just a few steps in, she stumbled and fell to the ground.

The red-clothed person behind Susan had a cold smile on his lips as he walked up to her at an unhurried pace.

”Susan, wouldn’t it have been better for you to cooperate with our young master? Instead, you stubbornly stayed loyal to the old master. What a pity to perish so young!” the red-haired youth said coldly.

”Bastard, Ah Huo, how could you do this to him after all the old master did for you,” Susan said coldly as she looked at the man.

”Haha, the one in power now is the eldest young master. I only have one boss, and that’s money. Whoever gives me money, I work for them,” the red-haired youth sneered.

”Hmph, I now understand the meaning of ’birds of a feather flock together.’ No wonder you would associate with scum like Pei Lai,” Susan said coldly, her eyes resolute.

”Since you refuse to see reason, then I have no choice but to let you die,” Ah Huo snorted coldly as the flames surged in his hand.

Seeing the scorching flames in Ah Huo’s hand, Susan involuntarily backed away several steps, her face showing fear.

”Hey, you need to use powers against a girl, do you have no shame?”

Just then, a mocking voice rang out. Ah Huo’s expression changed slightly, and he turned his head to see a young man standing behind him out of nowhere.

”It’s you!”

Seeing Lin Chen, a trace of wild joy appeared on Ah Huo’s face.

Ah Huo was shocked to find that this person had approached him without making any noise, an indication of the young man’s terrifying strength.

”Kid, I’d advise you not to meddle in others’ business, or else I’ll burn you to ashes,” Ah Huo said coldly as he stared at Lin Chen.

”Oh, really? You’re just a rookie who’s barely learned how to play with fire, and yet you dare to act tough in front of me!”

Lin Chen looked at Ah Huo with disdain, a smile playing on his lips.

Ah Huo felt extremely insulted when Lin Chen called him a rookie.

”You’re seeking death,” Ah Huo said as he flashed forward, the fierce flames in his hand smashing down viciously towards Lin Chen.

”Rookie, that’s not how you play with fire.”

Lin Chen snorted coldly, reached out with one hand, and actually grabbed Ah Huo’s hand enveloped in flames.

Ah Huo was dumbfounded when he saw this, as the fire in his hand disappeared without a trace the moment Lin Chen grabbed it.

”Rookie, let me teach you how to play with fire!”

Lin Chen snapped his fingers, and at once, fierce flames burst into life between Ah Huo’s legs—the man was literally on fire.
