Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Dragging his weary body, Li Yu returned to the residential area of the Big Camphor Tree Base Inner City.

Back in his room, he first turned on the water in the bathtub, then removed his combat uniform and the firearms he carried with him.

There was a faint sweat odor coming from all over his body, the last time he took a bath was during the downpour in Southeast Asia.

The rivers and lakes outside mostly had zombies in them, the water was only good enough for refilling vehicle tanks, and it must be boiled before drinking.

However, due to heavy combat tasks, they didn’t have much time to do so.

So most of them were carrying water from the base, and using rainwater to drink.

There wasn’t much, so using it for bathing was very luxurious.

Plop—

The heavy combat uniform fell to the ground, Li Yu walked to the washbasin, scooped some water with his hands and splashed it on his face, then squeezed out some shaving cream, applying it all over his face, slowly shaving clean with a manual razor.

Afterwards, he squeezed out some toothpaste, leisurely brushing his teeth, by the time he finished these, the water in the bathtub was almost ready.

Testing the water temperature, it wasn’t too hot, Li Yu lay in the warm water, letting out a sigh of comfort.

Comfortable!

Every cell in his body seemed to be rejoicing, some grass bits and black oily grime floated on the surface of the bathwater.

After a thorough cleaning, the entire bathtub’s water had turned a light black color.

He got out of the bathtub, and gave his body a quick rinse with the shower head.

Standing in front of the mirror, he saw his hair had unknowingly grown to a length covering his eyes.

Picking up scissors, he trimmed his hair by himself.

After cutting the excess hair, he looked much refreshed in the mirror.

Fff—

He puffed on a cigarette, wearing a bathrobe, holding a glass of whiskey taken from the small warehouse.

Now these cigarettes and alcohol were becoming increasingly scarce, but the hundreds of vehicles worth of supplies brought back from Southeast Asia should replenish it for now.

Sitting on the wicker chair on the room’s balcony, Li Yu placed the glass of whiskey on the small side table beside him, the room remained clean even after not being back for a month, should be his mother occasionally coming to clean.

The night sky outside was bright, solar street lights illuminated the roads, and the distant mountains and forests weren’t very clear.

Relaxed by the hot water bath, Li Yu’s nerves also relaxed quite a bit.

”Tomorrow we start capturing those who slipped through the net! But the day after tomorrow, I’ll be heading to Oil City; the operation won’t be completed in just one day, someone needs to oversee it.”

Li Yu contemplated secretly.

He knew deeply that to capture those who slipped through, he must strike decisively, better to be wrong than to let them go.

Going through a list of candidates in his mind, he first thought of Uncle, but felt he wasn’t ruthless enough, then he thought of Ju Tianrui, but he intended for Ju Tianrui to replace Xiao Jun in managing Oil City this time.

After contemplating for a long time, Li Yu decided to let Third Uncle handle the matter personally.

Once he figured it out, Li Yu gulped down the glass of whiskey.

Putting out the cigarette butt, he rinsed his mouth, and lay down back in the room.

......

The next day.

Li Yu got up at six thirty, having slept for about seven hours, that was quite enough.

This was the most restful sleep he’d had in a month.

Stretching lazily, he got up, took a set of clothes from the closet and put it on, then took the combat uniform he took off yesterday downstairs for cleaning.

After breakfast, he strolled to the outside of the interrogation room.

The duty officer outside the interrogation room had already been replaced with another person.

This person was originally from the WJ team, replacing yesterday’s duty officer Yang Zhongshi.

”Good morning, Director Li,” He An greeted.

”Until what time did Dapao and the others interrogate yesterday?”

He An thought for a moment and said, ”Around three o’clock, oh, right, Dapao and the others told me to give this to you.”

He An pulled out a notebook from a table in the interrogation room, Li Yu took it, skimmed through it briefly, and immediately understood these were interrogation records from yesterday, along with some arrest lists.

With the list, things would be much easier to handle.

Li Yu rolled up the notebook, tapped it into the palm of his hand.

Nodding, he said, ”Good.”

Then headed towards the Outer City, wondering how the inventory check was going yesterday.

He arrived at the Weng City in the Third Outer City.

Orderly amidst chaos, all supplies had been inventoried.

Only the final touches were left, categorizing them and placing them in suitable locations.

Second Uncle and Old Bi hadn’t slept all night.

”Second Uncle, can you hand me the registration roster from before? I’ve just received the capture list, let’s see if there’s any overlap, it would be easier to find them that way,” Li Yu said.

Second Uncle raised his head, his eyes were bloodshot, yawning, he said:

”Oh oh right, I was talking about handing it to you yesterday, almost forgot, wait a moment, I’ll get it for you.”

After speaking, Second Uncle hurried towards the duty room.

Li Yu was about to call him back, saying he could fetch it himself, but Second Uncle was moving too fast, so he let it be.

Li Haoran, who also hadn’t slept all night, was still sitting in front of a table, cross-checking data with a computer.

”Let me see, what’s the total inventory?” Li Yu leaned over and said.

Upon hearing this, Li Haoran quickly stood up, vacating the spot for Li Yu, saying:

”Big Brother, take a look for yourself, there’s way too much stuff, and not only that, there’s a wide variety.”

Li Yu sat on the chair, clicked the spreadsheet with the mouse.
