Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

The ground inside was covered with fallen leaves and branches, looking very desolate.

Clang!

A crisp sound of metal striking the concrete floor came from inside.

”I was trying to see if this war vehicle could still be used, didn’t expect it to be this fragile!” Ant said awkwardly.

”After all, it’s exposed outside, different from those underground military bases, the previous acid rain, and so many times of torrential rain, extreme heat and cold, it would certainly have an impact.” Old Qin touched the rust on the car and said.

”Let’s go, let’s check inside the barracks.” Third Uncle looked around at the messy environment and said.

Inside the walls, more than twenty vehicles were parked, but these war vehicles were either overturned or corroded beyond recognition by acid rain, completely unusable.

This place is situated in a basin, it seems like it was flooded, these vehicles were soaked, and the seats inside the vehicles were moldy.

The Jackals and others followed Third Uncle, walking towards the barracks.

As soon as they entered the barracks, they saw remains and skeletons scattered everywhere inside, and next to the bones were a few guns, which had also been run over by water, after three brilliant years, some gun surfaces were covered in moss.

”Sigh.....” Third Uncle sighed in his heart upon seeing this scene.

Everyone was in a bad mood, rummaging through several large barracks buildings but not finding much useful stuff.

It also seemed to have been scavenged by survivors of the apocalypse.

The curtains, chairs, and tables inside were gone, leaving behind an empty barracks.

”Although this place didn’t yield much, it might be a good idea for Xiao Yu and the others to come over, it’s getting late now, Old Qin, head back to the helicopter and have Xiao Yu and the rest come over, let’s spend the night here.”

Old Qin nodded when he heard the captain’s words, ”Alright, I’ll go.”

He said, then walked towards the helicopter.

Thirty kilometers away from Kun City, Li Yu received Old Qin’s message.

His eyes lit up as he remembered that resort in the north of Kun City, where they still had some supplies stored.

So, he said to Old Qin, ”Uncle Qin, please tell my Third Uncle, there’s probably still time, let’s spend the night at that resort in the north of Kun City, anyway, the space there is large enough to accommodate all the vehicles.”

The resort is quite large, with a huge parking lot, definitely enough for their three hundred vehicles to park.

Old Qin asked, ”Director Li, aren’t you coming over to take a look?”

”I’m not coming, you’ve already seen it, and since there’s nothing to gain, let’s quickly bring those supplies from north of Kun City, otherwise, we’ll have to make another trip tomorrow, which is a waste of time.

And tell Third Uncle, something happened over in Oil City, we must hurry back.”

Hearing that something had happened in Oil City, Old Qin’s heart tightened, and he quickly asked, ”What happened?”

”Well....”

”Someone from Southern Paradise came over, I’ll explain to you guys later. Uncle Qin, we won’t be going over to your place, we’ll head directly to that resort north of Kun City, see you there.”

Since Li Yu didn’t say, Old Qin didn’t ask further about what happened.

Subsequently, he said to Li Yu, ”Alright Director Li, I’ll inform the captain, see you later.”

Old Qin put down the headset and quickly jumped out of the helicopter.

Rushing into the barracks, Third Uncle was looking at the remains scattered everywhere, seemingly reminiscing about something.

”Captain, Director Li said for us to go directly to the northern resort, we’ll meet up there later, he also mentioned that there’s trouble in Oil City, people from Southern Paradise arrived.”

”What? What happened?”

”I’m not sure, Director Li didn’t say, but since he didn’t ask us to fly the helicopter directly back to the base, it probably isn’t something too serious.”

Third Uncle thought for a moment and agreed that what Old Qin said made sense.

So he said to Old Qin, ”Gather everyone, let’s leave here and head to the resort.”

”Okay.”

Everyone walked out of the barracks, boarded the helicopter, and flew toward the resort.

....

p.m.

Li Yu and the others arrived at the foot of the mountain where the resort is located.

They came off the highway, then entered a cement road, circled two bends, and reached the foot of the mountain.

Looking at the winding mountain road, the dense forest, appearing somewhat murky in the dark yellow sunset.

Only specks of light penetrated through layers of leaves, casting mottled shadows on the ground, giving a sense of closure.

Rumble—

Vehicles circled the mountain road, not moving fast.

Because it was built as a high-end resort, the road up the mountain was well-repaired.

But not having been maintained over the years, it had some bumpy potholes, requiring careful driving.

Any carelessness might lead to accidents and rolling down the slope.

Finally, Li Yu and the others arrived at the resort’s entrance.

The iron gate was coated in rust, though the nearby marble pillars remained gleaming.

Screech—

Ant opened the gate from inside.

Ju Tianrui, who was at the forefront, was about to get out to open the gate but seeing Ant had already done it, nodded to Ant in gratitude.

Vehicles drove through the entrance, parking in the lot.

Though the parking lot was vast, three hundred vehicles couldn’t all fit, so the remaining vehicles parked in order along the paths.

Once the ground was full, they drove the vehicles to the underground parking.

If not absolutely necessary, they would prefer not to enter the underground parking.

Even though the underground parking was cleared and safe, the darkness without lights inside was unsettling.

At last, all vehicles were parked inside the resort.

Li Yu breathed a sigh of relief as he looked at the vehicles densely packed around him.

He had thought the resort was quite large, originally thinking the open ground would be ample, didn’t expect it to almost not fit all the vehicles.

”Xiao Yu.”

Third Uncle hurried over to Li Yu when they came in.

”Old Qin told me you said something happened in Oil City? What exactly is going on?” Third Uncle quickly asked.

Li Yu got out of the car and closed the door.

Then he repeated what Second Uncle told him to Third Uncle.

Upon hearing, Third Uncle thought for a moment and said, ”Should I take people back first? Or you go back first if you’d like.”

Li Yu plucked a foxtail grass and rubbed it in his palm.

After a while, he said, ”No rush, we have too much material here, plus the supplies originally stored at the resort, a total of over three hundred vehicles.

At least three hundred vehicles are loaded with supplies, the convoy is too long, the front and rear can’t take care of each other, we had two breakdowns just on the way here, if we hadn’t contacted in time via walkie-talkie, the front vehicles would have gone beyond ten kilometers.”

”Our convoy is too long, dispersion of force, if someone ambushes the rear, those at the front won’t be able to react.

The helicopter’s mobility is strong, I think on the road back to Big Camphor Tree Base, the helicopter is needed for escort.”

Third Uncle hesitated at Li Yu’s reasoning and asked, ”Southern Paradise truly poses no issue? What if they’re just pretending to be friendly?”

Li Yu smiled and said, ”Third Uncle, didn’t we previously fly the helicopter over Southern Paradise? You are aware of their capabilities, don’t worry, it won’t take us long to return.”

Seeing Li Yu’s insistence, Third Uncle didn’t say more.

After all, Li Yu had a point, their over three hundred vehicles lined up, stretching for several kilometers.

Without walkie-talkies, problems at the back wouldn’t be known to the front.

But the convoy’s length made immediate support impossible if the front knew, given the distance and vehicles blocking the path.

With aerial helicopter escort, the convoy’s safety can be secured.

Three hundred vehicle loads of supplies equate to the entire supply from three places, a substantial fortune.

Thus, when Old Qin informed Li Yu of the lack of gains at the Kun City military base, he wasn’t too disappointed.

Because their acquisition from this trip is already significant.

As long as they can return with the over three hundred vehicle loads to Big Camphor Tree Base, it will be a success.

”Alright, we’ll do as you say and head out first thing tomorrow.” Third Uncle nodded after some thought.

”Hm.”

Li Yu actually had another thought, having joined that Southern Paradise in his previous life.

He knew the caliber of Southern Paradise’s leader, thus he wasn’t too flustered, more importantly, the weaponry in Oil City isn’t weak.
