Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Xiang Province.

Yong City.

Screech—

An unusually formidable infantry fighting vehicle, its armor covered in a lot of Zombie slime.

The vehicle suddenly braked and came to a halt.

Whoosh—

Stirred up a cloud of dust.

Thud—

A person got off the vehicle, it was Ju Tianrui.

He looked at the wide lake spanning several hundred meters to the right and nodded in satisfaction.

”Xiao Ding, throw the hose down to fill water for the vehicles. Xiao Liu, you guys cover and keep an eye on the Zombies under the water.”

Xiao Ding, who also got off the vehicle, responded:

”Alright, this lake surface looks quite calm, there shouldn’t be any Zombies, right?”

Ju Tianrui glanced at him and said in a muffled voice:

”Better safe than sorry, Zombies like the water. It’s likely they might be lurking underwater, just throw the hose in from afar. Don’t get too close to the water surface; if you fall in and there are Zombies inside, no one will be able to save you.”

Xiao Ding and the others’ faces changed, nodding repeatedly, then unloaded the hose and water pump they’ve been using along the way from the transport vehicle.

Xiao Ding and another person carefully carried the water pump to the lakeside.

There was a small slope by the lake; they dared not relax their vigilance while looking at the calm lake and cautiously tread on the slope, using their feet to hold the slipping mud to avoid suddenly sliding into the lake.

Stopping two meters from the water surface, Xiao Ding halted, and Xiao Liu behind him took out the Military Shovel to dig into the slope, creating a small flat area.

”Alright, put the water pump on here,” Xiao Liu said to Xiao Ding.

Only then did Xiao Ding and another person lift the water pump and slowly set it onto this small flat, ensuring the pump could lie flat and not slide into the lake water.

Clank—

Xiao Ding set up several stands underneath the pump, then pressed hard down, sinking the stands into the soft mud, stabilizing the pump further.

Right after.

Xiao Ding threw the pre-prepared hose towards the lake water.

Plop!

The hose crashed into the lake, with the head wrapped in a circle of iron, stirring up ripples upon impact, making the lake surface shimmer.

On the other side, Xiao Liu and four or five people aimed their gun barrels at the front lake surface, wary of Zombies emerging from the water.

Soon.

Yu Xing and Bi An straightened the hose behind, connecting it to the vehicle for refueling.

Vehicles queued up for refueling, departing once filled, allowing the next vehicle to take position.

Honk—

The water pump made a loud noise while extracting water.

After placing the water pump, Xiao Ding and others climbed up the slope, standing at the lakeside, watching the lake.

With the pump extracting water, the lake surface stirred up small ripples.

Standing at lakeside were Xiao Ding, Xiao Liu, and seven or eight people, quietly watching the pump and lake.

”Brother Ding, dare to bet with me? Bet whether Zombies will appear in the lake after we finish extracting water,” Xiao Liu said with a smile.

Looking at him, Xiao Ding scratched his itchy scalp, dandruff fluttering down from his head.

Beside him, Xiao Liu quickly took a few steps to the side, looking at Xiao Ding with slight disdain.

Xiao Ding lifted his head and said, ”Sure, what’s the bet, with what?”

”A can of fruit. I bet there’ll definitely be Zombies coming out later.” Xiao Liu said directly.

Xiao Ding blew dandruff off his hand, it was very clear in the sunlight, floating gently in the breeze.

”Alright, fruit cans delivered, why not? You better not go back on it, the pump’s been loud for several minutes now; if there were Zombies, they would have come out already.” Xiao Ding said confidently.

”That’s not necessarily.” Xiao Liu said with a smile, looking at the soft mud below the slope.

This lake looks decades old, the silt inside must be abundant. Zombies staying in it would inevitably be submerged and trapped inside.

Even hearing outside disturbances, it’d take time to crawl out.

Sure enough.

Blub blub!

Suddenly, several bubbles appeared in the lake center.

Soon, bubbles also rose on the lakeside water surface.

Xiao Ding furrowed his brows, inwardly cursing: Damn, there really are Zombies!

Swish!

A Zombie head surfaced, followed by another.

As these two Zombies emerged, Xiao Ding and the others could see their chests, waists...

Yet these Zombies moved very slowly, with rotting fabric below the waist covered in black mud.

After floating up, the Zombies quickly headed for the pump.

”Not good, don’t let the Zombies knock over the pump.” Xiao Ding quickly said rationally.

In the next second, he raised his gun and shot at the Zombies.

Bang bang!

Two gunshots, Xiao Liu also shot at the other Zombie.

Plop!

These Zombies fell back into the lake, floating on the water for several seconds.

Whoosh.

The Zombie bodies seemed dragged down as bubbles kept rising where they fell, stirring up ripples.

Xiao Ding and Xiao Liu exchanged glances, eyes full of fear, with some guesses in mind: surely other Zombies dragged these two bodies down.

If they accidentally slipped into the lake, they’d surely be dragged by Zombies, devoured clean.

After awhile, several more Zombies emerged from the water but were shot before reaching the shore.
