Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 883: Chapter 631: The Long, Cold Season (Part 1)

Big Camphor Tree Base, people hurried about, everyone was bustling with activity.

The weather was getting colder by the day, and many things needed to be done before it got as cold as last year when nothing could be accomplished.

The cold wind howled.

At noon, Li Yu arrived at the warehouse.

The warehouse door was closed, but Li Yu had heard in the morning that Li Yuan, Haoxian, Haoran, Li Peizhen, and Li Zhengping were inspecting for any signs of mice inside.

He also had a key to the warehouse, so instead of knocking, he opened the warehouse door himself.

After opening the warehouse door, he didn’t push it open too wide, but instead slipped inside after slightly pushing it open with force.

Inside the first door, there was a roughly thirty-square-meter space, with some less important items stored on both sides.

At the very end, another door stood.

Double security to enhance safety.

The second door wasn’t closed but had a small opening, which Li Yu pushed open to enter.

Upon entering, he saw Li Yuan and his group squatting in a circle.

Hmm?

Could there really be mice here!

His footsteps caught the attention of Li Yuan and the others, who looked up to see Li Yu.

”Brother.”

”Big Brother.”

”Big Brother.”

...

”So what’s the situation? Really found mice?” Li Yu frowned and asked.

Li Haoran pointed to a pile of cockroach corpses on the ground and said, ”No mice have been found yet, but we did find these cockroaches.”

Southern kids, rarely afraid of creatures like cockroaches.

After all, they grew up seeing them.

Looking at the cockroaches larger than his thumb, Li Yu’s brows furrowed tightly. He asked, ”Where did you catch these?”

Li Yuan shook his head and replied, ”We didn’t catch them. After the meeting yesterday, I asked Bai Jie and Teacher Ma to help make some cockroach poison, which we placed in the food area overnight. We didn’t expect to find so many cockroaches in the morning.”

”Which part of the food area?” Li Yu asked.

After all, the food area occupies the largest space, and different types of food require different storage conditions.

For example, some more valuable foods are vacuum-packed and stored in specially designated rooms.

But things like alcohol are placed casually in the outermost area.

This underground warehouse is enormous, with a height of seven to eight meters and spanning an area of two thousand square meters.

Back when Doomsday first broke out, Li Yu spent most of his funds on building this warehouse and purchasing a vast amount of supplies.

To ensure good preservation of these supplies, Li Yu had instructed construction workers to build it to extremely high standards.

The cement pouring thickness reached two meters, and facilities for ventilation, insulation, lighting, and dehumidification were installed.

The structure of this underground warehouse was reasonably partitioned.

In the critical food area, walls separate it, forming a corridor with various rooms—big and small—categorized with clear storage information marked above.

Upon hearing Li Yu’s question, Li Yuan replied, ”We placed cockroach poison across all food zones, but this morning we found most of the cockroaches in the flour section; there were none elsewhere.”

Partitioning has the biggest advantage of preventing issues in one area from affecting others.

Li Yu nodded and said, ”That’s good. I’ll go in and take a look.”

With that, Li Yu headed deeper inside.

First, he reached the armory, a large area with a locked door.

Li Yu used the key to open the door and entered.

Seeing the orderly arrangement of guns, bullets, and mortars, Li Yu closed the door and walked around inside.

No cockroaches or mice were found, and at the door, he saw a logbook hanging.

This book serves as a backup, noting each approved entry and exit within the base.

Li Yu briefly glanced through it, noting most usage records he knew about, alongside a few unfamiliar ones, all recorded in small amounts with reasons, quantities, and signatures from Li Yuan and Second Uncle, as well as the applicant’s signature.

”Application for 5 assault rifles, 500 rounds of ammunition. Purpose: shift duty to Xin City. Applicant: Deng Ben. Approver’s signature: Li Hongda. Warehouse manager’s signature: Li Yuan.” Li Yu read slowly.

He went through the entire log and found nothing concerning, so he hung it back in place.

After leaving the armory, Li Yu strolled to the rice storage area.

Rice is the most stored food at the Big Camphor Tree Base, divided into three different zones due to its excessive volume.

Li Yu entered one of the rooms, a 200-square-meter area densely packed with rice. It was enclosed by large steel plates, with a funnel-shaped opening at about a meter height for easy access.

The rice wasn’t directly stacked against the walls or the ground.

It kept about 20 centimeters from the walls, suspended 10 centimeters above the ground, supported by some hollowed steel plates.

Li Yu brought over a ladder, climbed over seven meters high, opened the cover, and checked the storage condition inside.
