Reincarnated as a Mosquito, I Sucked the Reborn Empress to Tears

Chapter 100: Chapter 100: First, 10,000 Rank 2 Peak Minions

Chu Sheng nodded in satisfaction, but his gaze immediately shifted to the Nether Flame Insect Nest.

’An upper limit of eight thousand minions is already terrifying, but… who would ever complain that their army is too small?’

’Especially now, with so many high-quality recruits right in front of me. It would be a crime against myself not to expand the army!’

’Upgrade!’

[Ding! 80 Evolution Points consumed! The ’Nether Flame Insect Nest’ has been upgraded to Level 9! Storable insect capacity increased to 16,000!]

[Current remaining Evolution Points: 105!]

Sixteen thousand!

Sixteen thousand self-destructing minions, all at the Peak of Second-Grade!

Chu Sheng’s wings trembled with excitement at the thought.

’Damn… how many levels above my own can I fight now?’

’Peak of Third-Grade? Fourth-Grade Early Stage?’

’I, Lord Mosquito, feel like I could take on either of them!’

He was so excited he couldn’t hold back any longer. He sent a thought directly to Gu Yuexi: “BZZZZ! (Empress! Let’s get to work!)”

…

「Two days passed in a flash.」

At the exit of the Spirit-Devouring Forest Secret Realm, the atmosphere was incredibly tense.

With his hands clasped behind his back, Qi Chongshan paced back and forth anxiously, fine beads of sweat dotting his forehead.

“What’s going on? Why aren’t they out yet?!”

“It’s been two days! Did… did something happen to them?”

A sense of dread crept into his heart.

’This shouldn’t be happening!’

’I specifically watched the surveillance footage before. I saw that mosquito’s methods with my own eyes. It’s the perfect counter to the Spirit-Devouring Worms!’

’In the medicinal field at Du Nan First Middle School, it resolved the crisis in a matter of hours. It was nothing short of a miracle!’

’The Spirit-Devouring Forest Secret Realm might have more worms, but aren’t they fundamentally the same thing?’

’With its abilities, it should be easy for it to carve a path, find the mother worm, and eliminate it, right?’

’So why… why have they been in there for so long?’

’Is there some unknown danger in the Secret Realm? Or… is the mother worm far more difficult to deal with than I thought?’

The more Qi Chongshan thought about it, the more his heart sank.

Beside him, Zhang Chengye was scratching his head in anxiety. If something happened to Gu Yuexi in there, none of them would be able to answer for it.

Just then…

KRRRAAAACK—!

Without any warning, a blinding flash of lightning tore open the sky!

Space ripped apart like fragile fabric, torn asunder by an irresistible, immense power.

A burly, stern-faced figure then stepped out from the rift.

Countless tiny, golden serpents of lightning coiled around him. Space warped in his wake, as if unable to withstand the terrifying, world-shattering pressure he exuded.

Traveling by tearing through the void…

An Emperor-level Powerhouse!

Everyone present watched in terror, their hearts pounding. They subconsciously lowered their heads, an irresistible urge to kneel welling up inside them.

“The one who has achieved Great Success in the Thunder Law… the one they call the ’Thunder Emperor’…” Zhang Chengye’s face was a mask of horror as he recognized the newcomer.

“O-Old Lei! You’re finally here!”

Seeing the man was like spotting a lifeline. Qi Chongshan hurried forward to greet him, a wide smile plastered on his face.

The Thunder Emperor merely shot him a cold glance, his tone aloof. “Qi Chongshan, for old times’ sake, this is the last time I’m helping you.”

“The front lines are tight. I can only spare half a day, so cut the chatter.”

Qi Chongshan’s smile froze. He had wanted to reminisce a little, but he could only swallow his words and nod awkwardly. “Yes, yes… Lord… Lord Thunder Emperor! I understand!”

The Thunder Emperor looked up at the entrance to the Spirit-Devouring Forest and said bluntly,

“If the mother worm inside the Secret Realm isn’t dealt with, I could use the Power of Law to eliminate every last worm on the outside, but they would just reappear before long.”

“It treats the symptoms, not the root cause. You understand that, don’t you?”

Du Nan wasn’t the only city in the Great Xia Federation where a Spirit-Devouring Forest Secret Realm had appeared. Some cities had Soul-devouring Worm plagues that were even more severe than Du Nan’s. The Thunder Emperor was obviously aware of the situation.

“I understand! Of course, I understand!”

Qi Chongshan nodded repeatedly. After a pause, he said hesitantly, “Lord Thunder Emperor, could you… could you please wait a moment?”

“We… we might be able to eliminate the mother worm very soon!”

“Hm?”

The Thunder Emperor glanced at him, his eyes, which crackled with electricity, filled with surprise and suspicion.

’Eliminate it very soon?’

’What a joke.’

He had heard about how troublesome the Spirit-Devouring Forest was.

For the past two years, the Federation had been researching and experimenting with ways to kill the mother worm hidden within the Spirit-Devouring Forest.

In the end, they concluded that it was an “unsolvable” problem.

The biggest problem with this Secret Realm was that it was a Low Level Secret Realm. Cultivators of Third-Grade or higher could not enter. This was an immutable law of the world that no one could change.

And for anyone below Third-Grade to enter an ocean of hundreds of millions of worms, find the mother worm, and kill it was nothing but a pipe dream.

The Federation had studied the problem for two full years, deploying countless high-tech reconnaissance devices and sending in innumerable scout teams, yet they hadn’t even caught a glimpse of the mother worm.

’On what grounds did this Qi Chongshan dare claim he could resolve it soon?’

’Where did he get that confidence?’

Facing the Thunder Emperor’s scrutinizing gaze, Qi Chongshan felt an immense pressure, and cold sweat broke out on his forehead once more.

He gritted his teeth and, with a guilty conscience, quickly explained the situation with Gu Yuexi and the mosquito, embellishing the story as he went.

He emphasized just how extraordinary Chu Sheng’s abilities were, how perfectly they countered the Spirit-Devouring Worms, and how easily he had resolved the infestation at Du Nan First Middle School.

He tried to portray his decision as a well-conceived, foolproof, and brilliant plan.

However, before he could finish…

“Are you fucking crazy?!”

The Thunder Emperor’s angry roar wasn’t loud, yet it seemed to summon the thunder of the heavens. Everyone present felt their minds tremble and their Qi Blood churn violently.

“Qi Chongshan! Do you have any idea what you’re doing?!” the Thunder Emperor demanded, looking at him with unrestrained fury. “You dared to let a top prodigy—one classified as one of the Federation’s highest secrets—take such a risk?!”

“If she dies in there, is that a responsibility you can bear?!”

“N-No, that won’t happen!”

Qi Chongshan was scared out of his wits by this outburst. He quickly waved his hands and stammered out a defense, “N-No! That’s not it! Lord Thunder Emperor! Please, let me explain!”

“The… the Spirit-Devouring Worms aren’t actually that aggressive! They’re only interested in Spiritual Plants!”

“Besides, that mosquito is their natural predator! The worms are completely helpless against it! It should be… it should be safe!”

“No danger?”

Hearing this, the Thunder Emperor let out a laugh of pure incredulity and anger.

“Qi Chongshan, oh, Qi Chongshan. Your stupidity is laughable!”

“The Spirit-Devouring Worms aren’t aggressive? That’s only because no one has threatened their very existence! The moment someone makes a move on their mother worm, are you certain they won’t go into a frenzy?”

“Have you tested that theory? Has anyone in the entire Great Xia Federation tested it? Who can guarantee they won’t attack every living creature like a pack of rabid dogs?!”

“Have you forgotten the Celestial Fall Insect Abyss from seventy years ago?!”

“The Hive Will formed by the billions of insects in there devoured three King-level Powerhouses in under half an hour!”

“The number of Spirit-Devouring Worms in this Secret Realm numbers in the tens of billions! Once their Hive Will is fully activated and they start to attack, anyone below the Emperor Level who enters is just committing suicide!”

“And you! You dared to let an eighteen-year-old girl and a Contracted Beast that isn’t even Third-Grade take a risk that could annihilate an Emperor-level Powerhouse?! Are you fucking out of your mind?”

Qi Chongshan froze completely, his face ashen. He lowered his head, not daring to utter a single word.

’He wasn’t an idiot. How could he not have considered the possibilities the Thunder Emperor was shouting about?’

’But… he had no other choice.’

’If he allowed the insect plague to rage on, the economy of Du Nan, and perhaps the entire Sui Ming Province, would collapse under his watch.’

’Not only would he lose his position as Governor, but he would also spend the rest of his life in the Federation’s highest-security prison, or worse, face a death sentence.’

’It was a death sentence either way. He might as well take the gamble.’

’If he won, everyone would rejoice.’

’If he lost… it would just mean his doom would come a little sooner.’
