Reincarnated as a Mosquito, I Sucked the Reborn Empress to Tears

Chapter 73: Chapter 73: Hidden Dragon Class! Discussion of the Province’s Top 8 Prodigies

Chu Sheng was dumbfounded.

Good heavens. Back in Jiang City, the only students at the Peak of First-Grade were Zhao Qingtian and Li Yueyao, and they were already considered the city’s greatest geniuses!

But here, Peak of First-Grade was merely the entry requirement for the honors class…

Director Zhao smiled and continued, “As per the arrangements from our superiors, you’ve also been guaranteed a spot at Huaqing Jing University, Gu. Naturally, that means you’ve been assigned to the Hidden Dragon Class.”

“As it happens, the eight students in the Hidden Dragon Class weren’t even supposed to be here today. But yesterday, they heard a new student was arriving. It seems they were all quite curious, because surprisingly, every single one of them showed up.”

“They probably want to give you a warm welcome. You know how young people are—they love a bit of excitement.”

“Why don’t you head to the classroom and meet your new classmates, Gu? I’ll go to the administrative office to pick up the resources the Federation and the school have prepared for you!”

’BUZZ! Welcome? More like they want to see what kind of big shot is showing up. They must think some VIP’s offspring just got dropped in out of nowhere!’ Chu Sheng grumbled to himself.

Gu Yuexi was unconcerned and simply nodded calmly.

As far as she was concerned, it didn’t matter where she went. All that mattered was having enough resources to recover her strength as quickly as possible.

…

Meanwhile, in the exclusive Cultivation Chamber of the Hidden Dragon Class.

In the luxuriously spacious room, there were only eight meditation cushions made of Thousand-Year Cold Jade. The surrounding walls were covered in engravings of Spirit Gathering Arrays, and the Spiritual Qi was so dense it was almost tangible.

Eight young figures were seated cross-legged.

They represented the pinnacle of the younger generation, not just at Du Nan First Middle School, but in all of Sui Ming Province.

“A transfer student from out of town, at a time like this, gets placed directly into our Hidden Dragon Class… They must have some serious backing, eh?” a handsome, slightly ostentatious young man spoke first.

He was Xiao Ran, from the direct lineage of the Du Nan Xiao Family.

The Xiao Family was the family behind the Xiao Group.

The Xiao Group was the corporate giant that monopolized the entire alchemy and pharmaceutical industry in Du Nan, and even across all of Sui Ming Province. Their influence was nothing short of immense.

As for Xiao Ran, he himself was a Beast Tamer at the Peak of Second-Grade, and his Contracted Beast was a Three-headed Red Flame Lion possessing a King-level Bloodline.

“It is rather unheard of,” replied a long-haired girl sitting opposite him, her demeanor as tranquil as still water.

Her name was Chu Yiran, from the Chu Family—a second-rate noble house in Du Nan. Her Martial Dao cultivation had already reached the Peak of Second-Grade.

“It’s so strange. The unified exams are only three days away, and they’re parachuting a transfer student in now? Straight into our class? That’s insane. Who could it be?” another prodigy asked, his face a mask of astonishment.

“Isn’t it obvious?”

Xiao Ran sneered, his tone dismissive. “It’s one of two things: either they’re a prodigy so monstrously powerful the school broke its own rules, or… they have connections that reach the heavens.”

“Could it be… some incredible prodigy appeared in another city in the province? And they made an exception to let them in?” a girl with a ponytail speculated.

“Prodigy? From another city? Heh!”

Xiao Ran scoffed, making no effort to hide the look of superiority in his eyes. “Impossible. Do you really think anywhere else in Sui Ming Province, besides our Du Nan City, could possibly produce a true genius?”

Someone immediately chimed in in agreement.

“He’s right. Those backwater towns don’t even have a basic city-wide Spirit Gathering Array. The Spiritual Qi is pitifully thin, and they’re dirt poor. What kind of resources could they possibly have? Being born in a place like that would waste even the greatest talent!”

“Let’s be blunt: the first thing that separates people in life is the womb. Some people are just born at the finish line!”

As harsh as those words were, they were an undeniable truth.

With a single exception, the other seven people in the room all came from powerful and wealthy families in Du Nan. They had enjoyed access to resources from a young age that people from other cities couldn’t even dream of.

Just then, one of the prodigies, who was browsing the school forums on his phone, suddenly gasped.

“Holy shit! You guys, look! Someone just exposed the transfer student’s background!”

Instantly, all eyes were on him.

On the forum, an anonymous post was rocketing to the top of the “trending” page.

[HUGE SCANDAL! Background of the Nepo Baby Who Parachuted into the Hidden Dragon Class EXPOSED! Where’s the Fairness?!]

The post’s content was explosive. Written in a tone of righteous fury, it condemned the school’s injustice.

The post claimed the transfer student who’d been dropped in was named Gu Yuexi, and that she came from a remote backwater called “Jiang City”!

Her Martial Dao strength? A mere First-Grade Middle Stage!

What’s more, she was a Beast Tamer, and her Contracted Beast was… a White-striped Aedes Mosquito!

The post concluded with the bombshell allegation: this Gu Yuexi was, in fact, the illegitimate daughter of a powerful figure from a top-tier family in the Capital City!

She had only recently been acknowledged by the family, and her placement in the Hidden Dragon Class was a result of them pulling their immense strings to force her in!

Silence.

A dead silence fell over the entire Cultivation Chamber.

The eight prodigies looked at one another, speechless.

“Hiss… how credible can an anonymous post be?”

Chu Yiran was the first to regain her composure. She frowned and said, “Jiang City, First-Grade Middle Stage, a White-striped Aedes Mosquito… The details are too absurd. Someone might just be trolling.”

“Trolling?”

Xiao Ran raised an eyebrow and pulled out his phone. “We can just check, can’t we? I’ll have my family use their access to look up Jiang City’s student records system. It’ll take less than a minute!”

No one in the Cultivation Chamber spoke; they were all waiting for word from Xiao Ran.

In less than thirty seconds, Xiao Ran’s phone went BEEP as a file arrived.

He opened it, and the look on his face instantly froze, quickly replaced by an expression of utter absurdity and disbelief.

“Holy fuck… it’s real!” Xiao Ran couldn’t stop himself from cursing.

“’Jiang City Lingwu Middle School, Gu Yuexi! Qi Blood Assessment: First-Grade Middle Stage! Contracted Beast: White-striped Aedes Mosquito…’ This is insane! The file matches it word for word!”

Now, no one had any doubts.

The truth was even more outrageous than the rumor!

“Wow, just wow!”

Xiao Ran’s eyes were wide with disbelief. “Qi Blood at First-Grade Middle Stage? And she contracted a White-striped Aedes Mosquito? Is she insane? Isn’t that the most useless kind of mosquito? It’s barely even an animal!”

“Jiang City? What kind of godforsaken place is that?” Chu Yiran frowned and searched on her phone.

The next second, her expression turned peculiar. “A small county-level city that wouldn’t even be considered third-tier? One of the lowest-ranked cities in all of Sui Ming Province? No wonder she’s so weak…”

“So, after all that, she’s just a textbook nepo baby, through and through?”

A variety of expressions appeared on the faces of the group.

Some looked disdainful, others amused, and a few were lost in thought.

They’d thought a powerful rival was arriving, but it turned out to be a good-for-nothing.

But this good-for-nothing was backed by some sky-high connections…

A country bumpkin who just got lucky in the birth lottery?

“How boring.” Xiao Ran sneered, completely losing interest. While he was wary of her background, he had zero interest in Gu Yuexi herself.

The others felt it was pointless too. Someone who got in purely through connections wasn’t worth a moment of their time.

“Hey, Xiao Ran, not so fast,” a scholarly-looking young man with gold-rimmed glasses next to Chu Yiran spoke up.

A shrewd glint shone in his eyes. “She might be a good-for-nothing herself, but the post said she’s the illegitimate daughter of a top-tier family from the Capital City! A connection like that? Even forging a minor link would be hugely beneficial to our futures!”

His words made a few of them pause. They had to admit he had a point.

While their own backgrounds were nothing to scoff at, even a top-tier Du Nan family like Xiao Ran’s Xiao Family paled in comparison to the great families of the Capital City. After all, that was the Imperial City Wall…

However, just then.

A young man who had been silent in the corner the entire time shot to his feet.

The young man was somewhat gaunt, with an ordinary face but exceptionally resolute eyes. He wore a faded, worn-out school uniform that was starkly out of place among the glamorous, wealthy scions surrounding him.

His name was Qin Zheng. He was the sole anomaly in the Hidden Dragon Class, the only student from an ordinary, working-class family.

Right now, his fists were clenched so tight his knuckles had turned white. His entire body was trembling slightly.

“This… is outrageous!”

Qin Zheng’s voice was hoarse, yet it seethed with uncontrollable rage. “This is so unfair! On what grounds?! What gives her the right—someone who got in through connections—to walk straight into our Hidden Dragon Class?!”

Everyone looked at him with varied expressions, but none of them were surprised.

They all knew Qin Zheng’s story.

He was a true force of nature—a madman who had clawed his way up from the very bottom on sheer grit and talent alone.
