Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 908: Chapter 908: Shopping

”Sure, I’ll pick something we don’t have.”

”Feifei, are you willing to lend your books to others?” Jianbin asked cautiously, knowing how much Feifei treasured her books. If it were something tasty, he wouldn’t need to ask; even if they gave her portion away, she wouldn’t get upset. But Feifei’s books? Neither he nor Shi Jing dared to lend them out.

”Comic books are okay, but for other books, you need my permission to lend them out.”

The two quickly nodded and promised, ”Feifei, we will definitely not lend your books out.”

”Good, that’s how it should be. No one is allowed to take my books out of our house.”

The two nodded vigorously, once again giving their assurance.

When Wei Kaiyun arrived at the post office, it had just opened.

”Excuse me, I’d like to make a long-distance call.”

”You’ll need to wait a moment; the operator will be here shortly.”

Wei Kaiyun waited for a while until a young lady came over. He handed over his phone number and waited on the side.

Once connected, Wei Kaiyun said the code phrase. The correct response came from the other side, and he simply said the letter had been delivered.

After hanging up, he paid two yuan and bought some whole sheets of stamps before leaving.

His wife loved collecting these, so whenever he traveled outside, he always bought some for her.

Hurrying back home, he just happened to meet Old Yang at the front door.

”What time is the train?”

”Four in the afternoon. I’ve bought seven sleeper tickets.”

”Alright, then I’ll take the kids out for a while.”

”Okay, I’ll be staying at home. Let’s have lunch at the roast duck restaurant.”

”Alright.”

The two chatted as they walked, and the three children had already packed everything.

Wei Kaiyun generously praised them. The two boys were a bit excited, while Jiang Feifei stood aside with a subtle smile.

”Alright, let’s go.”

The three children cheered, with the tickets already packed into Jiang Feifei’s shoulder bag. Shang Zhenkun tagged along since taking three kids shopping alone wasn’t safe.

”Uncle Yang, aren’t you coming with us?” Jiang Feifei asked.

Old Yang shook his head, ”No, I’m not going.”

”But you need to buy a gift for Aunt Yang, right? You came all the way to the Capital and aren’t taking anything back for her? She might be upset otherwise.”

Jianbin and Shi Jing nodded in agreement, ”Yeah, we still need to buy gifts for Mom too.”

Wei Kaiyun burst into laughter on the side, ”Let’s go, everyone together.”

Old Yang laughed too and picked up Feifei in a swoop.

”Let’s go, help Uncle Yang pick a gift for Aunt Yang.”

”Uncle Yang, put me down. I want to walk by myself.” Jiang Feifei disliked being carried.

They first headed to the Overseas Chinese Store, where you simply couldn’t enter without a pass.

The guard’s attitude remained decent when he saw them.

Feifei took out a stack of coupons from her bag, and the whole family entered the store smoothly.

There were indeed many items they hadn’t seen before. But Jiang Feifei knew.

She went straight to the bakery counter. ”Auntie, are the bread loaves limited in quantity?”

”Little girl, the bread isn’t limited. How many do you want?”

”There are seven of us at home, so we’ll buy seven loaves.”

”Alright, but do you have enough coupons?”

Jiang Feifei handed over some coupons for the cashier to see.

”Great, I’ll wrap them up for you right away. These large loaves come in paper bags, one loaf per bag.”

”Thank you, Auntie.” Jiang Feifei adapted quickly, calling the cashier ”Auntie” since she was referred to as ”little girl.”

The cashier was delighted. Everyone liked a pretty child.

”Brother, let’s buy chocolate. Han Bo has a lot of coupons here, so we can buy quite a bit.”

Jianbin nodded, ”Buy more chocolate. I want to eat some.”

The three adults followed behind, watching the three kids.

When they reached the candy counter, the kids got excited over the chocolates, milk candies, and fruit candies with beautiful wrappers.

They bought five pounds of chocolates, all wrapped in shiny gold paper, which looked especially nice.

With twelve pounds of candy coupons left, they bought six pounds each of milk and fruit candies.

Wei Kaiyun paid for the candies, thinking he would buy candy for the kids whenever possible, although his wife probably wouldn’t allow it.

Afterwards, the kids didn’t have any more shopping in mind, but Wei Kaiyun spotted a princess dress.

He insisted on buying it for Jiang Feifei. ”My daughter will look absolutely beautiful in this.”

”Dad, I don’t like it. There’s no place to wear it.”

”Just wear it at home.”

Wei Kaiyun spent 120 yuan to buy the pure white princess dress.

”Dad, it’s too big for me.”

”No problem, you’ll grow into it by next year.”

Jiang Feifei looked at her father helplessly, feeling it was hard to decline.

Next was imported milk powder.

Jiang Feifei checked the coupons and found they could buy ten bags.

”Feifei, do you think these hair clips look good?”

”Dad, I don’t like them.”

Wei Kaiyun felt quite disappointed, since besides being interested in books, his daughter couldn’t care less about anything else. Yet he still spent five yuan on a hair clip for her.

Old Yang held Feifei’s hand, ”What gift should I buy for Aunt Yang?”

Jiang Feifei shrugged, ”Uncle Yang, how would I know? You should pick something for Aunt Yang yourself.”

Old Yang had already made a round but truly hadn’t found anything suitable.

”Uncle Yang, how about those red high heels? Do you know Aunt Yang’s shoe size?”

”I do. Her shoes are size 38.”

Old Yang bought a pair of red high heels for Zhao Xiaoli.

”Feifei, should we buy a pair for your mom too?”

”My mom doesn’t like them. She only loves good stuff. Dad, how about that watch?”

Wei Kaiyun glanced at the watch his daughter pointed at. It indeed looked nice, sparkly, possibly adorned with diamonds.

”Great, that’s the one. I’ll buy two, one for you too, sweetheart.”

”But it’ll be many years before I can wear it.”

”That’s okay, you can keep it safe until then.”

Wei Kaiyun spent a generous 1,400 yuan on two watches that didn’t require coupons.

Old Yang watched from aside, found it attractive, and bought one for Zhao Xiaoli too.

Then they bought two leather-bound notebooks each and two sets of cashmere clothes for the three kids.

Their spending drew everyone’s attention.

After finishing their shopping, they promptly left, regrettably unable to use up all their coupons.

”Let’s take this home first.” There was too much stuff.

Shang Zhenkun laughed and said, ”You guys can keep shopping; I’ll take this home.”

”Dad, I’ll go back with Master Shang. You take little sister to buy things.”

”I’m going back too,” Jianbin added.

”Alright, you three head home. Let’s meet at the roast duck restaurant at eleven.”

Originally a group of six, now it was just the three of them.

The three of them went directly to the mall. Wei Kaiyun insisted on buying clothes for his daughter, so they went straight to the third floor, where there was a lot of children’s clothing in the Capital’s mall.
