Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 902: 902 Returns

The truck stopped directly at the pesticide factory gate. Along the way, when they saw people from the village, they asked them to notify Dad to come over.

”Brother Wang, be sure to come to my house for a meal later. I’ll go tell my mom to cook. You should try our authentic North cuisine. Also, stay at our home for the night. I wouldn’t be at ease if you drove yourself.”

The three talked mostly about food along the way.

”Okay, I won’t be polite with you brothers.”

”What’s there to be polite about? Aren’t we brothers?”

The pesticide factory door opened. Shuanzi saw Chaoyang and Xiang Dong had returned, knowing this was the last truck.

At this time, Li Yungui also arrived. He looked at his son and nephew who had matured a bit and was very satisfied.

”Dad, we’re back.”

”Good, very good.” Li Yungui patted his son’s shoulder, feeling it had become much sturdier.

”Dad, this is my good buddy Wang Wencheng. My brother taught me and Xiang Dong how to drive a truck.”

Li Yungui held the honest young man’s hand, thanking him profusely.

Shuanzi envied them from the side, thinking how come all the good people encountered those two boys. He got a driver who was difficult to serve like an old man, not to mention learning to drive, he sulked even at a bad meal.

”Where is your Master Wei?”

”They took Jianbin home, Jianbin was homesick.”

”Oh, I see. Later, you should notify Teacher Jiang.”

”Dad, there’s some stuff Feifei brought back on the truck, and rubber gloves Master Wei mentioned should be kept at his place, since they are sensitive to cold and heat.”

”Hmm, your fourth uncle went to call people, they’ll be here soon, unload the truck, and then you go.”

Li Yunqiang came with more than ten people, all strong laborers. They were caught from the card tables and when the farm work is idle, this bunch gathers and plays cards.

Many hands make light work, and within a quarter-hour, all the raw materials were unloaded.

”Brother Wang, I’ll drive, once we’ve unloaded the rest, let’s go to my house.”

”Alright.”

The three got in the truck and went directly to Jiang Xinyu’s house.

It was just time for Jiang Xinyu’s class, so Xiang Dong ran to the school to fetch Jiang Xinyu back.

”Teacher Jiang, we’re back.” Chaoyang said with a smile.

Jiang Xinyu nodded with a smile, ”Good, as long as you’re safe.”

Wang Wencheng leaned in, and Chaoyang quickly introduced his buddy to Jiang Xinyu.

The two shook hands, the young man was blushing, making Chaoyang regret introducing him. If Master Wei knew, he’d surely give him a hard time.

”Teacher Jiang, this is Master Wei’s letter, and these rubber gloves are to be left at your place. There are things Feifei brought back on the truck too.”

”Alright, you can unload. The things Feifei brought, put them in the study, and gloves in the storeroom.”

The three young men finished unloading in ten minutes. Upon hearing the driver would stay for food and shelter, Jiang Xinyu stopped Chaoyang and handed him three meat sausages, a three-pound piece of smoked meat, and a pound of pork belly.

”Your mom can use this fresh meat to cook.”

”Thank you, Teacher Jiang.”

Jiang Xinyu laughed, ”Realize when to be polite now?”

Chaoyang laughed awkwardly. Wang Wencheng was mesmerized by Jiang Xinyu’s smile, grinning foolishly.

Xiang Dong had to tug him into the truck.

Qu Xiaoli already heard her son was back. She planned to make some tasty food for her son.

Li Yungui returned, telling his wife that his son’s friend would have a meal at their place, and spend the night there.

”There’s nothing special at home, just a fish, I’ll stew it.”

Chaoyang boldly parked the big truck at his doorstep. He jumped off and saw his mom running out.

”Mom, I’m back.”

Qu Xiaoli was quite emotional, her son had been gone for over a month, she couldn’t help but worry.

At this moment, Xiang Dong and Wang Wencheng also got out.

”Second Aunt, I’m back.”

”Good, first go home and let your mom see you, then come back for dinner.”

”Alright.”

Xiang Dong said goodbye to Wang Wencheng and turned strides toward home.

”Hello Aunt.” Wang Wencheng greeted with a smile.

”Good boy, thank Shang Zhenkun and Jiang Xinyu for taking care of my son and nephew along the way.”

Wang Wencheng scratched his head shyly, ”Aunt, they helped me. They took turns driving along the way, I didn’t get tired.”

”Even more reason, you taught them how to drive a big truck.” Qu Xiaoli grabbed Wang Wencheng’s hand and led him into the yard.

Chaoyang carried the meat and followed, full of smiles, feeling no matter how things were outside, home was always best.

Li Yungui greeted them, he had just lit the fire in the second son’s room and had the pot boiling water, so they could freshen up later and relieve their fatigue.

Li Yungui invited Wang Wencheng inside, Qu Xiaoli took the meat from her son, knowing it was from Teacher Jiang, thinking it was just right as there wasn’t anything good to entertain guests, planning to have her husband give Teacher Jiang some money.

”You three chat, I’ll prepare the meal.”

Qu Xiaoli first washed the smoked meat several times and stewed it, as it takes longer. With many people at home, she planned to add vermicelli later, so everyone could taste the meat flavor.

When Xiang Dong got home, his mom pulled him around and asked about various things during the trip.

Liu Cuilan felt relieved seeing her son hadn’t lost weight.

”Mom, I’m eating at Second Aunt’s place today. The driver taught me to drive a truck on the way back, so Chaoyang invited him over for dinner and to stay the night.”

”Alright, there’s fish at home, take it over along with a big bowl of peanuts and five eggs. I’ll prepare for you now.”

”Okay.” Liu Cuilan never let her children eat at the second uncle’s house without reciprocating. Even though it’s just her brother-in-law’s three kids at home occasionally, she only sent refined grains and sometimes veggies and eggs over a few times.

Xiang Dong brought his mom’s prepared offerings to the second uncle’s house.

Qu Xiaoli saw the things Xiang Dong brought and didn’t refuse, knowing her sister-in-law as such.

Qu Xiaoli alone was cooking a pot of meat and a pot of fish, Chaoyang’s place had the stove steaming three meters of mixed rice: rice, millet, sorghum, and red beans.

Li Yungui and Wang Wencheng talked quite congenially.

”Uncle, what is the factory making? Is that iron?”

”Yes, it’s a corn sheller for threshing corn cobs.”

”Good stuff, Uncle, could you sell me one?”

Li Yungui looked at Wang Wencheng with difficulty.

”Never mind, Uncle, if it’s too difficult, forget about it.”

”Nephew, if you ask, I’d give you one for free, but it’s still confidential now, I can’t help it.”

”I understand, just wondering when we’ll have them available back home.”

”Surely will, I’ll let you take one back when transporting goods.”

”That would be great, Uncle, you must keep tracking, I’m waiting for your good news.”

”Sure, definitely, rest assured, once there’s news, I’ll write you.”
