Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 903: Chapter 903: Coming Home

”Uncle, please don’t, Chaoyang has the phone number for the chemical factory. Give me a call or send me a telegram when the time comes, as letters are too slow.”

Li Yungui nodded, ”Rest assured, nephew. I’ll find out, and if it’s possible, I’ll call you immediately.”

”Thank you, Uncle. I’ll definitely come over to pull.”

Xiang Dong came in. The atmosphere became even better now, and they were sharing stories from the journey.

Li Yungui listened, also feeling envious that the kids could travel out.

Especially Wang Wencheng, who could drive all over the country, gaining more experience than Chaoyang and the others.

The two kept asking Wang Wencheng, very much admiring the outside world.

Li Xue and the others came back from school together, spotting the big truck at the doorstep from afar. Cheng Lin jumped up, ”It must be Second Brother back.”

At his sprint, Hongling, Red Army, and Changhe followed suit.

Li Xue smiled and shook her head, wondering if Second Brother could escape. So, she strolled back slowly.

Before entering the courtyard, she could already smell the rich aroma.

Li Xue swallowed her saliva; although Second Uncle’s life was quite good, they couldn’t eat meat often.

This was because Second Brother was back, and Second Aunt was preparing delicious food. Tonight, she could finally satisfy her cravings.

The three boys circled around Chaoyang, who considerately led them back into the house and pulled out trinkets he had bought for them during his travels.

Their favorite was the pens, as they hadn’t reached an age to use them yet, so they yearned for and treasured them even more.

They even ignored the candies Chaoyang had brought back.

After Li Xue entered the house, she went back to her room, pulled down the curtains, changed her clothes, and came out to help Qu Xiaoli.

”Second Aunt, today truly is a feast.”

Qu Xiaoli laughed, ”Indeed, the meat and sausages are from your Teacher Jiang, and the peanuts and eggs are from Fourth Aunt.”

”Haha, we’re lucky then.”

”That’s right; life’s been tough, but finally, an opportunity to satisfy your cravings. Oh, there’s a guest at home, a truck driver.”

”Oh, then I won’t show my face.”

”Alright, he’s a young guy, so you won’t be needed here. You should go back to study.”

”No, I can’t. I’ll help Second Aunt. I won’t sit at the table during dinner.”

”Okay, Second Aunt will save some separately for you.”

Dinner was indeed very sumptuous. There was fish, and there was meat, better than even the New Year’s meal.

After serving the dishes, Qu Xiaoli let them eat, she and Li Xue stayed in the main room, eating the same delicious dishes and savoring them together.

The boys were unstoppable in their eating. They left nothing of the large pot of smoked meat with vermicelli. The sausages were gone too.

A large grass carp weighing over three pounds was finished with even the soup gone.

”Nephew, are you full?” Li Yungui asked with a smile.

”Full, full. Uncle, your life here is so good, I don’t want to leave.”

Li Yungui laughed heartily, ”Our life may not be better than yours.”

The boys were still eating, initially hesitating due to dining with a guest, ensuring they eat well and are satisfied. But the food was too delicious, so they unconsciously ate more.

Li Yungui didn’t criticize them, feeling for the kids.

After eating, Li Xue returned to her room. She didn’t like chatting with strangers, so she simply avoided it.

After dinner, the three young men showed signs of weariness, Li Yungui told them to go sleep.

Xiang Dong said he was heading home, while Changyang and Wang Wencheng washed up, climbed into bed, and fell asleep.

With a full belly and a warm bed, back in the home he lived in for over ten years, Chaoyang didn’t even chat idly with Wang Wencheng. As soon as he closed his eyes, he started snoring.

This was the most comfortable sleep he had since leaving.

The next morning, Chaoyang heard noises outside, opened his eyes in confusion, then smiled, realizing this was his home, and he had returned.

Wang Wencheng also woke up, both sharing a smile and getting up to dress.

Wang Wencheng truly rested well. This time unlike others of long-distance trips, comfortable with someone to alternate driving. Upon arrival, he didn’t have to unload the truck and even enjoyed a delicious meal, especially with meat.

The two went out to wash up, while Qu Xiaoli had already prepared breakfast.

In the morning, she made pancakes with pure white flour, making plenty, thinking of taking some for the road with the young men.

Cornmeal porridge, red pickled stir-fried eggs, and stir-fried cabbage.

This was already a very sumptuous breakfast.

The kids took one pancake each, spreading sauce, wrapping a couple of scallions, and had a bowl of porridge.

”Auntie, thank you so much for your hospitality.”

”No need to be polite. When you’re here, be sure to come home. There may not be much, but you’ll definitely be full.”

”Alright.” Wang Wencheng had a great impression of their family, resolved to bring them grain next time. After all, for those in transportation, it was hardly a big deal.

After breakfast, the kids stood in the courtyard reciting their lessons.

”Chaoyang. Your younger brothers are really good; it would be hard not to achieve anything.”

”All the village kids are like this. It’s because they had no money for school before. Now that they have the opportunity, they’ll definitely cherish it.”

”That is truly good. Really envious of you.”

Wang Wencheng sighed and smiled, taking leave of Li Yungui and Qu Xiaoli, ”Uncle, Aunt, I’m going back now. Call me if you need anything.”

”Child. Here’s some big pancakes prepared for you, along with leftover sausage and a few boiled eggs to eat on the way.

I don’t understand much else, but I know don’t rush on such a long journey, sleep when you’re tired.”

Wang Wencheng was moved by the warmth from the Li Family.

”Aunt, rest assured, I’ll heed your words, no rush.

Oh, Uncle, can I ask my father about the rotary corn machine when I get back? He’s a county leader, maybe he can find someone on your side?”

Li Yungui thought for a moment, ”Sure, Chaoyang’s uncle is our deputy mayor here, responsible for this area. I’ll give you his number, you can ask. I’ll also wait for our local official to return and discuss the situation.”

”Alright, thanks, Uncle.”

Wang Wencheng took the phone and drove away. The family was down to just the three of them.

Chaoyang and Li Yungui went inside. Everything that happened along the way was shared with his father.

”How did it feel going out?”

”Dad, I used to think I had quite a bit of knowledge, but after going out, I realized there’s always someone better, something greater beyond. I was too narrow-minded before.”

”Good, realizing your shortcomings is what matters. Just relax at home now.”

”Dad, I want to go study too.”

”Go ahead, but you’ll have to join the kids now; classes are divided. Xue He and the Lu Family are reviewing middle school courses, soon to learn high school courses.”

Chaoyang nodded, ”I’ll try to join Xue’er and them. Lack of education really won’t do.”
