Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 619: 619 enrichment

After seeing off Old Yang, everyone at home went to rest. After all, everyone was tired at this time.

Every night, Wei Kaiyun massages his wife’s legs. Having children consecutively over the years still has an impact on Jiang Xinyu’s body.

”Hurry up and rest, you don’t need to do this. I won’t go to the fields tomorrow.”

”Wife, you’ve been through a lot. Let’s just have this last one.” Wei Kaiyun feels distressed seeing his wife like this. He can’t replace her.

Old Yang drove back to Jin Family Village, and he didn’t unload the food on the car. He was quite tired too. But since he promised, he would surely do a good job. Moreover, this time is suitable for staying in the countryside.

Early the next morning, Zhao Xiaoli came over, and Old Yang had already got up but hadn’t finished washing up.

He looked at this young girl and thought she was quite decent and reliable.

”Xiao Zhao, there are some noodles on the car, make something simple.”

”Okay, Master Yang.” Somehow, the address had changed from Uncle Yang to Master Yang.

Old Yang didn’t mind. He moved all the food off the car.

Today everyone is going to remove the mud bricks. Old Yang’s idea is to make the yard a bit bigger so they can grow some vegetables themselves. They are different from the villagers.

The mud bricks from the past few days are almost dry, probably two more days before they completely dry.

Old Yang and the others arrived at the construction site and saw the Lv family’s siblings working. Guodong was carrying water, and Jing Chu was doing what she could.

Everyone who came to work felt comfortable. It’s still the same, it’s about the attitude.

Wei Kaiyun is planting cotton today, using mulch as his wife suggested so that weeds wouldn’t grow.

Now Li Yungui comes to the Wei family’s private plot every morning.

”Xiao Wei, are you going to plant cotton?”

”Yes, the supply of cotton is too limited, the family’s demand is too large. It feels more secure to grow it ourselves.”

Those working in the field are Wei Kaiyun, Sister-in-law Liu, and Shang Zhenkun, with the three children helping to lay the mulch, doing what they can.

Everyone in the family is busy. Jiang Xinyu is in charge of cooking at home. However, when it’s time, Feifei comes home to help her mother heat the stove. After all, her mom can’t squat down now.

Cotton doesn’t need the film on top, just the mulch, making it easier than watermelon.

At noon, Jiang Xinyu cooks them rice, hotpot, stir-fried dried radish with sausage, and egg custard. She’s always changing the dishes to make it tasty.

These are heavy labor tasks, and it’s not okay if nutrition doesn’t keep up. After lunch, everyone needs to rest because it’s not late to plant cotton now, and even if it’s not early, there’s no rush. Human health is most important.

In this way, after three days, they finally finished laying the mulch.

As for planting cotton, it also took three days.

Although there’s good food daily, the few are still darker and thinner, with the three children also getting tanned, but no one complained.

Old Yang and his team are also starting to build a house. Since the villagers are busy with spring planting, no one is able to help. However, they have quite a few people, and after working for the past few days, they’ve gotten a bit used to it.

The two bricklayers work very efficiently, and the supplies are adequate. So it only took four days to build the structure, and then it’s time to put on the beams.

Old Yang went out and brought back a pig, sending half to Wei Kaiyun, along with the pig organs, fearing Xiao Zhao wouldn’t know how to cook them.

Wei Kaiyun used the evening to clean the organs and split the pig’s head.

Sister-in-law Liu, according to Jiang Xinyu’s requirement, cut the meat into small pieces. Jiang Xinyu thought with so much pork, it’s better to make sausages so it can last longer.

They went to the fields, and the planted corn has sprouted, looking very neat. However, since it’s wasteland, lots of weeds have sprouted as well, so today they went to the field to apply herbicides. Jiang Xinyu stayed home to braise the organs.

Everything is developing in a positive direction. Although physically tired, they feel good, and every day feels very fulfilling.

Today the three children stayed home to help Jiang Xinyu with work.

Jiang Xinyu made forty pounds of sausages and took out some more. Looking at the wall lined with sausages makes her happy.

Lunch was rice, and the dish was braised meat.

Everyone ate very contentedly. Even though they ate meat every day, it wasn’t as satisfying as eating a big mouthful of meat.

”Wife, spraying the herbicide will probably take a week.”

”But by then the ground temperature will be too high, it won’t be suitable.”

”Then let’s plant cotton tomorrow, just right to see the effect of the herbicide. If it’s not good, I’ll go and pull out the weeds.”

Jiang Xinyu feels sorry for Wei Kaiyun, the elegant man now tanned like coal.

But the work indeed requires prioritization.

In the afternoon, they continued spraying, mainly because today was not windy, or it wouldn’t have worked.

The next day, Wei Kaiyun and the others went to the fields at five. Jiang Xinyu made pancakes with meat rolls. She brought them to the fields with the three children.

Time was pressing, there was no other way. Wei Kaiyun intended to plant the cotton within two days.

Arriving at the fields, the two boys helped remove the mulch, saving an adult’s effort, making things faster.

Feifei wasn’t to be outdone, she worked very efficiently.

Jiang Xinyu helped with watering, but Wei Kaiyun refused.

”Wife, go home, there’s really no need for you here, let Feifei accompany you home. I’ll come home at noon to get lunch.”

Jiang Xinyu didn’t insist, calmed her mind, held her daughter’s hand, and they went home.

”Mom, what will we have for lunch?”

”Meat buns, delicious and satisfying, with nutrition.”

Jiang Xinyu went home, used yeast to make dough, then chopped the meat filling, preparing bit by bit. Still having time, she also washed the clothes changed by the family.

At noon, rather than having Wei Kaiyun come home for lunch, the mother and daughter carried baskets to the fields to deliver it. Drinking brown sugar water and having meat buns, Sister-in-law Liu sighed.

”Xiao Jiang, actually these past few years of spring planting are the happiest I’ve been. It used to be no easier, and we couldn’t get enough to eat, not to mention having meat.”

”Sister-in-law Liu, life will get better and better.”

”I also believe it. Based on our planting these past few years, we’re bound to have a bountiful harvest this autumn.” Sister-in-law Liu is really excited. Even though she’s just responsible for the labor, she feels very proud.

The mother and daughter also ate by the field, seeing one-third of the work done and believing they could finish planting in two days as Wei Kaiyun said.

Once full, the family rested at the field’s edge for a quarter of an hour, then the five continued working. The mother and daughter strolled back home. The sun was fierce.
