Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 488: 488 come back

”I’ll go with you, I might as well meet Yu Jing.”

”Better wait for another time, that girl is petty and still angry. I didn’t bring her today, I’ll see her first, then let you meet her later.”

Sun Hongxia entered the house reluctantly; life now was completely different from what she had imagined. Her husband was never home.

The more Sun Hongxia thought about it, the more aggrieved she felt, but there wasn’t much she could do.

After Kong Demin returned home, he went straight to Meng Xiu Fen’s room; he hadn’t taken his medicine this morning, so he came over tonight.

”How was today?” Meng Xiu Fen asked.

”You know my parents never cared about me. My mom certainly looks down on Sun Hongxia, but we’re already registered, so that’s that.”

Shortly after drinking his medicine, Kong Demin fell asleep.

Meng Xiu Fen looked at the two people lying together. Changjun was becoming less and less like him. She’s been pondering for days—could this child really not be Kong Demin’s?

Early the next morning, Kong Demin again visited Zheng Xiuxiang and her daughter, giving them fifty yuan.

He didn’t want to work on Sunday, so he stayed home, but eventually returned in the evening, fearing Sun Hongxia might come looking.

Seeing her husband return tonight, Sun Hongxia thought the couple should be together now, right?

But upon arriving home, Kong Demin went straight to sleep without any indication, leaving Sun Hongxia feeling unsettled and very upset.

Embarrassed to make the first move, she simply lay beside her husband.

Monday, Jiang Xinyu went to work. After the meeting, many people inquired about Mr. Qian’s marriage.

Handing over the money, she virtually became Qian Jun’s accountant.

These were all people Qian Jun had previously gifted.

Half an hour later, Jiang Xinyu handed the money and accounts to Fang Xiangxue; she had many tasks, so left them with his secretary.

At lunch in the cafeteria, more people asked. Jiang Xinyu refused to accept gifts, directing them to Secretary Fang.

”Xinyu, how much did you give?”

”Me? Twenty.”

”That much?”

”Not really. When I needed it, Qian Jun gave about the same.”

”I just gave five.” Pan Xiulan shrugged.

”Same here.”

”I’m not bothered; it’s Yao Shimin’s matter. I reckon it should be the same as Xinyu’s.”

”Did it add pressure on you?”

”Why would it? I haven’t seen our gift record, but I know Mr. Qian must have given a lot.”

After lunch, Jiang Xinyu lay down to rest. Wei Kaiyun should arrive tonight, but she didn’t know when, and wouldn’t go pick him up, as it was risky to venture out at night in this environment.

In the afternoon, she went to the workshop; although it wasn’t under her jurisdiction, she still needed to visit occasionally—Qian Jun mentioned this was to understand public sentiment.

After work, she hurried home to stew octopus, stir-fry shrimp, and use the sausage she made last time.

Rice was steamed first, and shrimp was to be stir-fried upon Wei Kaiyun’s arrival, just the same. At six, she ate a steamed bun; usually, she had dinner around that time, so it was uncomfortable to wait without eating.

Filled all the thermos at home, so there was no need to boil water when he arrived.

Finally, at around nine, there was a knock on the door, ”Who is it?”

”It’s me, wife.”

Jiang Xinyu ran to open the door.

The main door opened, Wei Kaiyun walked in carrying his bag, then tossed it aside and turned to shut the door.

He then embraced Jiang Xinyu, seeking out the lips he had longed for night and day.

Embracing his wife, he kissed her passionately while walking straight into the house.

Finding an opportunity, Jiang Xinyu pushed Wei Kaiyun away.

”Go take a shower, I’ll fry the dishes for you.”

”No, I don’t want to wait. Wife, now is the time.”

Eventually, Jiang Xinyu didn’t refuse him.

It was eleven before she managed to push Wei Kaiyun away.

”Enough, hurry up and shower. I won’t cook; there’s rice in the pot, sausage, braised octopus—go eat yourself, I’ll shower first.”

”Wife, I’ll join you in the shower.”

”No, let go of me.”

Jiang Xinyu pushed hard, and Wei Kaiyun reluctantly let go.

He went to the kitchen to eat, and when Jiang Xinyu emerged from the shower, she saw Wei Kaiyun standing at the door of the bathroom.

”Go wash up.”

”Wife, scrub my back?”

”Not interested, I’m exhausted.”

Wei Kaiyun took a quick shower and rushed back to the room.

He held Jiang Xinyu tightly and wouldn’t let go.

”I’m tired; I need to work tomorrow.”

”Skip work; it’s rare for us to be together.” Wei Kaiyun pleaded shamelessly.

”No, I’ll take leave the day after tomorrow, but not tomorrow.”

Holding Jiang Xinyu, Wei Kaiyun quickly removed her clothes.

When morning came, Jiang Xinyu struggled to open her eyes, feeling like she hadn’t slept at all, but since she hadn’t taken leave yesterday, skipping work today wasn’t an option.

Pushing away Wei Kaiyun’s arm, she exerted herself to sit up.

”Wife, why so early?”

”It’s not early anymore. Do you want breakfast?”

”I’ll make it for you.” Wei Kaiyun sat up too.

”No, I’ll do it. I won’t be home for lunch, you’ll have to manage.”

”Okay, I won’t starve myself.”

In the morning, they ate leftovers from last night. Jiang Xinyu also stir-fried the shrimp.

Before leaving, she handed Kong Demin’s investigation report to Wei Kaiyun. ”Analyze what we should do—make sure he can’t rise again.”

”Alright, leave it to me.”

Wei Kaiyun saw his wife off, then stayed home reviewing the investigation report.

He knew who backed Kong Demin, and even if something happened to him, there wouldn’t be issues.

Wei Kaiyun couldn’t understand why his wife was so adamant. Thinking about it, he recalled how she sent the two children away.

Something must have happened; he decided to find those few people.

After the morning meeting, Jiang Xinyu was incredibly tired. With no other meetings, she went straight back to rest, instructing Song Qingqing not to disturb her unless necessary. She skipped lunch.

Jiang Xinyu woke up at two in the afternoon, feeling much more refreshed.

Feeling hungry, she saw her lunchbox on the table, opened it, and found today’s lunch was steamed buns, but without any side dishes.

Song Qingqing probably worried the side dishes would spoil, but Jiang Xinyu had chili sauce, which should make the buns delicious.

She ate one bun but was not full, yet refrained from eating more to remain hungry for dinner.

”Vice Factory Director Jiang, you’re awake?”

”Yes, didn’t sleep well yesterday. Anything wrong?”

”No, but everyone knows Mengjie’s second brother is the director of the Revolutionary Committee.”

”That should cut down on gossip about Mengjie.”
