Chapter 96: 96 popularity

The sisters didn’t say anything, just started inquiring about Jiang Xinyu’s situation.

”Xiao Jiang, you started working so young?”

”Sister Tian, I’m the only one left in my family now. My parents passed away last year.”

”Poor thing, don’t worry, you have the country, and we have the textile factory.”

”Yes, the country gave me the opportunity to work at the textile factory, and the textile factory has nurtured me. In the future, I will definitely dedicate myself wholeheartedly to contributing to the construction of the textile factory.”

”Yes, young people should be ambitious like this.” Tian Xiuhua was very satisfied with Jiang Xinyu’s answer. It’s right to love your own position like this.

Jiang Xinyu looked around but didn’t see Wei Kaiyun, did he not come to eat?

”Sister Meng, our director went to the workshop, I didn’t see him come to eat, can I go and bring him a meal?”

”Sure, why not? Director Wei has a good eye for picking a young girl like you as a secretary. Finish your meal quickly and take the food to Director Wei.”

Jiang Xinyu washed her lunchbox and filled it with five sweet potato noodles stuffed with radish and vermicelli dumplings, but there wasn’t an extra lunchbox for soup.

Sister Meng had just told her which workshop Wei Kaiyun was in.

On the way, Jiang Xinyu asked around for the location of Workshop No. 9 and quickly walked over.

The machines in Workshop No. 9 were imported and very advanced, actually, these didn’t require Wei Kaiyun to learn, a workshop director could handle it, but he had arranged to come out once, so he had to learn himself.

Jiang Xinyu asked a female comrade in the workshop. ”Comrade, our Director Wei is here learning, I’ve come to bring him a meal, can I go in?”

”The workshop doesn’t allow idle people inside, you’ll have to wait a bit, I’ll call Director Wei.”

Jiang Xinyu thanked her and waited on the side.

After five minutes, Wei Kaiyun came out, his hands still wet, ”You don’t need to bring me meals in the future.”

”You will go and eat yourself?”

”It’s not finished yet, if I can’t make it, I just won’t eat.”

”How could that work? You have to eat. I’ll bring you meals every day then.”

Wei Kaiyun looked at the young girl insisting and felt warmed inside, ”Alright, I’m going in, you go take a rest.”

”After work tonight, can I go home myself?”

”Sure, if I’m early, I’ll come find you, if you don’t see me, you go home yourself.”

In the afternoon, Jiang Xinyu went with Sister Tian and the others to the conference room, today it’s the workers below reporting situations.

Jiang Xinyu sat on the side listening, feeling astonished, are the workers here really so daring to speak out?

This might relate to the personality of the director. Yuan Xinyun has a calm appearance, so workers can speak freely, whereas Wei Kaiyun is like a paternal leader, so everyone speaks very cautiously.

Only until after work did this issue get resolved, Sister Tian promised to raise the temporary workers’ benefits at the meeting.

”Sister Meng, you’re amazing.”

Everyone likes hearing compliments. Tian Xiuhua saw the admiration on the young girl’s face and felt delighted, happier than any praise from leadership.

”It’s nothing, we almost solve problems like these every day, already used to it.

Your textile factory doesn’t have these situations, right?”

Jiang Xinyu shook her head, ”I don’t go to the union often, and I’ve been here for too short a time. Now I finally understand why our director arranged for me to come and learn from Sister Tian.

But I might disappoint Director Wei, I could hardly do one-tenth of what Sister Meng does.”

”Haha, this young girl really knows how to talk. Alright, after work, go rest. Which dorm are you staying in?”

”I’m living outside with Director Wei, not in the factory dormitory.”

”The dorms are indeed too noisy. Go on after work then.”

Jiang Xinyu said goodbye to a few people with a smile, without seeing Wei Kaiyun, she could go home first.

At home, Jiang Xinyu hurriedly stoked the fire, cleaned the house thoroughly, and since there was no need to cook, waited for Wei Kaiyun to come back to make soup.

An hour later, the house was even tidier, but Wei Kaiyun hadn’t returned yet, she felt a bit hungry, made a bowl of milk powder, drank it, but still no sign of Wei Kaiyun.

Jiang Xinyu simply washed up lightly in her east room, even washed her hair, feeling revitalized.

Looking at the time, it was already past eight, there were no buses, how would Wei Kaiyun get back?

Still worried about him, she decided to drive out of the yard, and go to wait for him at the entrance of the textile factory.

By half past nine, the gate finally opened, Jiang Xinyu saw Wei Kaiyun coming out.

She didn’t honk, turned on the car lights, got out, and called out.

Dragging his weary body, Wei Kaiyun suddenly saw the car lights and heard the call, immediately walked over.

”Why did you come?”

”It’s so late and there’s no bus, so I came to pick you up.”

”Alright, let’s go. I’m quite tired today.”

Back home, Jiang Xinyu cooked a large bowl of noodles for Wei Kaiyun, not eating herself.

”I had a sugar bun, not hungry anymore, you quickly eat, I’ll get you some water.”

Wei Kaiyun was delighted, this was the life he longed for.

A woman taking care of the home, if there were a few more children chattering, that would be life.

After eating, he washed up quickly and lay down.

”Xinyu, do you want to sleep with me?”

Jiang Xinyu turned and left, who wanted to be bothered by him?

Early the next day, still eating sugar buns, they’d be finished by today morning.

”Today’s Friday, with the weekend off, I’ll take you out for a stroll.”

”You have time? Forget it, I’ll go myself, what’s there to be dangerous? Apart from the building, supply and marketing office, grain depot, there’s nowhere else to go.”

”Rest assured, I have time on weekends.”

”Alright, let’s see if there’s any meat, I want to make dumplings.”

”Fine, I’ll get some.”

In the afternoon, hurriedly, she ate and went to pack Wei Kaiyun’s meal.

She didn’t like sorghum rice, but Wei Kaiyun wouldn’t be picky. So packed mostly sorghum rice and a spoon of radish dried and bean sheets stew.

This meal was really good, way better than at home.

Still asked someone to call Wei Kaiyun out. ”Xinyu, tonight we are off together, Director Yuan invited us to eat.”

”In the factory?”

”No, at an outside restaurant.”

Jiang Xinyu frowned, ”What time? You all go yourselves, I’ll head home first, stoke the fire and then go find you?”

”You head back an hour early, I’ll come pick you up.”

”Is that okay?”

”It should be fine, go on, I’m going inside.”

In the afternoon, Jiang Xinyu hesitated to tell Sister Tian she needed to leave early.

”Go ahead, there’s nothing in the afternoon, you can leave now.”

”No need, I just want to go back and stoke the stove, otherwise it’ll be too cold at night.”

”Go on then, burn a bit more, it’ll be warm, women have to keep warm.”
