Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 73: 73 raise money

”Director Shen, your steel factory only has this little money?”

”At the end of the year, it was all handed over to the city steel factory.”

After hearing this, Tao Juncheng’s chest heaved violently a few times, and Jiang Xinyu felt he was quite angry.

”Alright, you guys need to quickly raise funds, the steel factory also must prepare two hundred thousand, no less.”

”Yes, leader.”

”What about Yang Haitao from the cement factory? How much are you raising?”

”Leader, we are raising two hundred thousand.”

”Alright.” Finally, the last one was Sun Baosheng, the director of the distillery. ”Hmph, all of you have money in hand, but our distillery is almost shutting down, how can we brew liquor without grains? If we don’t brew, what do we sell?”

”Don’t you have any stored?”

”That’s not enough, it’s just barely enough to sustain the distillery’s operations.”

”Your distillery needs grains to brew, it wouldn’t make sense if you don’t contribute financially, right?”

”Leader, I would also like to contribute, but we really have no money, even if I wanted to steal or rob, there’s nowhere to do it.”

”That’s your problem, if you can’t do it, there’s plenty who can.” Tao Juncheng’s words were already quite blunt.

”I!” Lv Beiguang pulled back the director who was about to speak.

”In that case, you guys should go back and arrange things, quickly organize the money in the bank, and then register it with the county’s finance department, meeting adjourned.” After saying this, Tao Juncheng left elegantly.

Wei Kaiyun also didn’t bother with others, he was the first to leave after the leaders went out.

Seeing this, everyone else left too, no one was in the mood to chat today.

Wei Kaiyun and Jiang Xinyu rode back to the textile factory without speaking a word.

Jiang Xinyu brewed fresh tea for Wei Kaiyun.

”Secretary Jiang, what’s your opinion?”

”Director Wei, I think this is an opportunity. We can apply for cotton, right? This way we can alleviate the problem of scarce raw materials.”

”We still don’t know the specific situation, whether there really is cotton.”

”We can apply, being the first to support the leadership’s work might give us some advantages.”

”Tomorrow, come with me to meet the county magistrate.Let’s visit the finance department first.”

Jiang Xinyu followed behind Wei Kaiyun, both entering the finance department director’s office directly.

The two spent two hours before coming out of the finance department.

It was already after office hours, but Jiang Xinyu didn’t mention leaving work, she knew the priorities.

”Director Wei, I think you should first confirm with the county magistrate if we can really get cotton, then we can hold a mobilization meeting at the factory, perhaps this month’s salary can be contributed first? I checked, our payroll is three hundred thousand, that would greatly relieve us.”

”There will be objections to this.”

”It can be voluntary, and for those willing, we can compensate with an additional five percent next month.”

”Five percent would be fifteen thousand.”

”Yes, although it’s not much for an individual, it could rally everyone’s collective honor, and for long-term considerations. Our raw material inventory is not large, how long can we last?”

”Alright, tomorrow we’ll confirm with the county magistrate, I’m just worried he doesn’t know. After all, he mentioned it was coordinated from above.”

”Director Wei, we could also borrow from the bank, though we’re not sure about the interest?”

”Hmm, I’ll think about it later; worst case, we buy ourselves.”

”Isn’t this kind of action not allowed?”

Both stopped speaking, it was not something they could decide.

In the evening, the two went home together, both feeling a bit down, so Jiang Xinyu decided to cook something nice.

Wei Kaiyun took charge of the fire, and Jiang Xinyu made rice, sour and spicy pork stomach soup, cabbage with pork lungs, and a plate of sheep’s head meat.

Wei Kaiyun talked a lot about raw materials, ”Leader, even if we can import, transportation is a problem, and the cost will be much higher.”

”Yes, rail transport can save a bit.”

The next day, after meeting in the office, the two went to the county government.

Tao Juncheng was not surprised to see Wei Kaiyun.

”County Magistrate Tao, we came to understand the specific situation.”

What followed was an hour-long discussion.

Jiang Xinyu sat aside with her head down, taking serious notes.

The county magistrate’s words had significant loopholes.

”Kaiyun, there’s nothing I can do, take a look at the documents from above.”

”County Magistrate, does this mean you’ve completed your task?”

”Tomorrow I’ll go to the city for a meeting, getting the city steel factory to release the money will be enough. But the money is only submitted when pressed by orders from above.”

”Hmm, I understand, I’ll also head back first.”

”Overcome the difficulties.” Tao Juncheng sighed, helpless too.

Returning to the office, Jiang Xinyu handed the notes to Wei Kaiyun.

”Alright, write a notice for all workshop directors, group leaders, and deputy group leaders to meet in the conference room at two in the afternoon.”

Jiang Xinyu almost bumped into Qian Jun when coming out. They nodded at each other.

By lunchtime, the two had not yet come out.

Jiang Xinyu found their lunch boxes and took them to the cafeteria.

Today, three-mix flour buns were served, one for herself, and three each for the two of them, with two boxes of porridge, and some pickles on top of the lunch box.

”Xinyu, you’re getting lunch for the director?”

”Yes, are you on the late shift?”

”Hmm, Xinyu, I’m heading home on Saturday, do you want to come?”

”No, I’m busy with work at the moment.”

”Oh!” Actually, Kong Mengjie wanted to borrow the bicycle. Though she couldn’t ride, she was confident she’d learn by the time she got home.

”Xinyu, can I borrow your bicycle on Saturday?”

”Sorry, I haven’t grown tired of it yet, I won’t lend it to anyone.”

Kong Mengjie awkwardly smiled and turned away.

You must directly refuse people like Kong Mengjie.

Hmph! Really, it’s still a new bike, plus their relationship is not that close, yet she still asks.

After eating her lunch, she took the two portions back to the office.

Jiang Xinyu knocked on the door, ”It’s time to eat, I brought these back.”

Each took a portion, ”Secretary Jiang, I’ll give you the meal ticket later,” said Qian Jun while eating.

”Okay.” They weren’t close enough to skip meal tickets.

After eating, the two returned to the office, while Jiang Xinyu lay down on the table for a short rest. She hadn’t stopped all morning, her arms a bit sore, being delicate.

Thinking about the afternoon meeting, she estimated it would be about money issues.

Wei Kaiyun probably wouldn’t touch the raw material fund; to be honest, this kind of fundraising isn’t good, but there are no other options now, and bank loans aren’t well established, with high interest rates.

At 1:40, Wei Kaiyun and Qian Jun came out, Jiang Xinyu couldn’t discern their expressions, ”Secretary Jiang, come with me to the meeting.”

Jiang Xinyu found a notebook and followed them out. By this time, the directors of the six workshops and the group leaders had all arrived.

”Today’s meeting is to convey instructions from above.”
