NTR: Barbarian Harem Conquest

Sira made a strangled sound that was half laugh and half scream.

”I hate both of you. I hate you with the power of a thousand suns. We were here worrying ourselves sick, and you two were running a private recovery festival.”

Misha pinched the bridge of her nose hard enough that it looked painful.

”Only two. He said only two. One of them was clearly you.”

She pointed at Kessa.

”Who was the other one?”

Kessa’s ears flicked.

”The emperor’s sister. Marisa. Political. Intense. She has a mouth on her and a very clear understanding of leverage. He didn’t bring her. She stayed to take the throne. But yes. That happened.”

Thora exhaled through her teeth.

”Of course it did.”

Sira threw both hands in the air.

”So the final count is: tiger menace got multiple solo rounds with viewing audience, fallen angel joined later, emperor’s sister happened for politics and healing, and the three of us got left here counting days and arguing about empire’s goods. I feel personally attacked by this itinerary.”

Misha’s voice went cold and precise in the way that usually preceded someone losing a title or a limb.

”We are going to need a schedule. A real one. With enforcement. If he thinks he can disappear for weeks, nearly die, collect two more notches, and then walk in here looking tired and expect us to be calm, he has forgotten how this household works.”

Thora nodded once, already planning violence.

”Agreed. Tonight we remind him. No more ’only two’ surprises. No more recovery festivals we aren’t invited to. And someone is going to explain to Kessa that smugness has a maximum daily allowance.”

Kessa looked entirely unrepentant.

”Am I allowed?”

”NO!”

”Tsk. You’re just mad I got there first after the Measures.”

”Yes,” all three of the original women said in perfect unison.

Griselda’s mouth twitched in what might have been the ghost of a smile.

”If it helps, he is currently too damaged to survive whatever the three of you are about to plan. The left arm is still braced. Several ribs are only recently stabilized. The one-minute full Rage output nearly killed him. You may want to wait until he can actually fight back.”

Sira’s eyes lit up with unholy glee.

”Even better. He can’t run.”

Outside the open window, the same two elven attendants who had been suffering through the earlier argument now stood frozen, eyes wide, having caught enough of the corner interrogation to understand the general shape of the coming night.

The older one whispered,

”Gods help the beds they are going to spend tonight.”

The younger one looked faintly ill.

”I am moving to the eastern watchtowers. Tonight. Before the screaming starts. I do not get paid enough to inventory broken beds again.”

Inside the hall, the five women continued the low, intense planning session with the focused energy of people who had waited too long and had just been given both relief and fresh ammunition.

Kessa kept smiling like a tiger who had already eaten well.

Griselda remained quietly composed and occasionally, unhelpfully, honest. Misha, Thora, and Sira refined a joint strategy that involved very little sleep for anyone involved.

Down the corridor, hot water was already running.

Kane, blissfully unaware of the exact details of the tribunal he had left behind, sank into the bath with a long, careful exhale, left arm braced on the rim, and allowed himself exactly three minutes of peace.

It was going to be the last quiet three minutes he got for some time.

The barbarian chief was home.

The wives had questions.

And the furniture of Sylvander was already praying for mercy.

Word reached the Elven Queen before the sun had fully dropped behind the western trees.

She received the report in the high solar of Sylvander’s main palace, a pale-wood chamber lined with living vines that glowed faintly at dusk.

The messenger, an older scout with the careful posture of someone who had ridden hard, knelt and delivered the summary without embellishment.

Kane has returned.

He had walked into Berakamon, passed three formal Measures, forced a public rematch under open rules, and killed the beast emperor Grathak in front of every major banner still inside the capital.

The emperor had mutated mid-fight with refined demon essence.

A remote projection of something older and worse had spoken through the corpse.

The barbarian had cut that down as well.

A new queen, Grathak’s sister, now sat the throne under an iron-and-bone circlet, and Berakamon’s strength had been formally pledged to the wider coalition under Kane’s command.

The Elven Queen listened in silence, fingers steepled.

When the messenger finished, she dismissed him with a short nod and turned to the open window that overlooked the guest halls.

”So he really did it,” she murmured to the empty room.

”He walked into the beast lands and cut the head off the problem.”

A faint, complicated smile touched her mouth.

”Of course he did.”

She gave quiet orders for additional healers to be made available if the guest hall requested them, then returned to her own maps.

The variable who refused to stay down had simply added another empire to the board.

Night settled over the guest hall with lamp light and the distant hush of elven patrols.

Kane had been steered into the largest bed the moment he finished the bath.

The brace on his left arm had been checked and tightened.

Fresh bandages wrapped the worst of the chest and rib damage.

The system’s recovery protocols were running at maximum civilian rate, which still left him looking like a man who had lost an argument with a mountain.

He lay propped against a small mountain of pillows, shirtless, hair still damp, expression caught between exhaustion and the wary awareness that peace was temporary.

Thora, Misha, and Sira hadn’t bothered with subtlety.

Thora sat on his right side, one scarred hand resting possessively on his good thigh.

Misha had claimed the left side of the bed, careful of the brace but close enough that her white hair brushed his shoulder.

Sira had simply draped herself across his lower legs like an orange-haired cat that refused to be moved, chin propped on her hands, grinning up at him with open intent.

Kane looked at the three of them and already knew he was in trouble.

”You’re all looking at me like I didn’t almost die yesterday.”
