NTR: Barbarian Harem Conquest

”You promised you would take me apart after the Measures. You keep postponing it for her and for this. When he is cold, and the hall is held, you keep that promise before you start pointing empires at the sky. I am not asking.”

Kane’s good hand settled at her waist.

”When he is cold, and the hall is held, you get what I promised. No more delays.”

She held the contact a moment longer, then released him and stepped back, eyes still hard but no longer blocking the path.

”You’ve many waiting for you. Grathak wasn’t an opponent you could be sure to win.”

”I know.”

”No. You think you knew. But...”

”Kessa. I will win.”

Griselda had already moved to the small side table and begun sketching quick, precise lines on a scrap of parchment: corridors, junctions, the underground access points she would need to lock.

Kane watched them both for a short time.

The plan was no longer only his.

The first external piece would move at first light when he sat down with Vorra’s representative and put concrete corridor commitments on the table.

After that, the countdown would leave the realm of private calculation and enter the open air of the palace, where pure-blood ears and essence-enhanced instincts would both be waiting.

He left them to their preparations and climbed the short stairs to the narrow terrace overlooking the eastern approaches of the capital.

The moon was lower now.

Torchlight moved along distant walls as night patrols changed. Somewhere inside the dark bulk of the palace, Grathak continued whatever measured doses he had left, confident the outsider had accepted the terms, the family condition, and the quiet logic of survival.

Kane stood alone at the rail, the open cuts on his arm cooling in the night air, Mjoldr solid across his back, and the full shape of the next two days laid out in cold, finished detail. Primary approach.

Secondary pressure. Tertiary containment. The southern banners tomorrow. The private chamber the night after. The signal. The succession. The end of the essence work.

The last quiet night was ending.

First light had barely cleared the outer walls when Kane left the guest quarters.

Kessa watched him go without further argument; the previous night’s truths had settled into something harder and more practical behind her eyes.

Griselda simply handed him a short list of the corridor junctions she considered critical and said nothing else.

Mjoldr rode across his back under a plain cloak.

The palace was already stirring, but the lower courts remained quieter than the upper halls, and the neutral chamber he had chosen sat off a service passage that pure-blood attendants rarely used before the second bell.

Vorra’s representative arrived first, the same silver-streaked female who had nodded to him after the First Measure.

Two senior war-chiefs followed within minutes: one river-aligned, broad and scarred across the muzzle, the other a southern pack leader with iron-capped horns and the flat stare of someone who had already decided the current throne was spending southern blood too cheaply.

The door closed, and the bar dropped.

Kane did not waste time on greetings.

”Grathak has been injecting refined demon essence into himself for years. Measured doses. It densifies muscle, accelerates recovery, and dulls pain beyond what two centuries of ordinary dominance should allow. The mutants pushing the southern approaches were deliberate pressure, not an accident of the deep forest. The coalition terms, trade routes, staged warriors, the family condition through Kessa, are real enough to bind the packs, but they also function as cover while he continues the internal work. That is the limited version of the truth. You will not get more than that in this room.”

Silence held for a breath.

The river-aligned chief’s ears had angled forward. The southern leader’s jaw tightened. Vorra’s representative spoke first, voice cold and precise.

”You are asking us to believe the emperor has been feeding on the same corruption he claims to study, and that the outer posts we have lost were acceptable losses in his private preparation. That is a serious accusation even from the man who forced the Guardian’s fragment to withdraw.”

”It is not an accusation. I walked into the underground laboratory myself. I saw the basins, the measured applications on captives, and the results. He confirmed the mutants and the self-injection when I confronted him. The offers on the table remain useful. The work beneath the halls makes them incomplete.”

The southern war-chief leaned forward, iron-capped horns catching the low light.

”And what exactly do you want from the southern and river packs before you decide how incomplete is unacceptable?”

Kane met the stare directly.

”Corridor control the hour the center changes. Not an open civil war. Not southern blood spent holding every hall against pure-blood hardliners. Specific junctions, main approach to the upper throne platform, the two eastern service stairs, and the primary underground access, held long enough for a clean succession claim to take root and for the pragmatic deeper banners to choose the side that is still standing. After that, the southern packs return to their own borders with the trade routes intact and formal recognition that River-Fang and southern status does not dissolve simply because the head on the throne has changed.”

Vorra’s representative exchanged a short glance with the other two.

The river chief spoke next, voice low and gravelled.

”Guarantees. We have watched outsiders make promises before. When the pure-bloods move, and they will move, we need more than your word that southern dead will not be the price of your new center.”

”Continued trade routes under protection, written into whatever formal agreement replaces the current coalition schedule. No southern or river warriors committed to offensive purges against pure-blood holdings after the first night. Formal recognition of River-Fang and southern standing under the new authority, spoken publicly once the immediate blood has settled. Those are binding verbal commitments from me. Breach them, and you are free to treat the alliance as dissolved and act accordingly.”

The southern leader’s eyes narrowed.

”You speak as if the change of center is already decided.”
