Super Gene Hunting Ground

The Qin family’s steward, Qin Lu, along with the three brothers of the Crocodile Ghost, were waiting in the forest. They initially planned to appear after the giant crocodile had killed Yang Xiao and his team, but unexpectedly, they were faced with two badly wounded giant crocodiles running back in a frenzy.

The double-headed giant crocodiles, even after escaping about a kilometer away from Yang Xiao’s campfire, still showed an expression of fear.

Qin Lu and the Crocodile Ghost brothers heard the earth-shattering roaring sounds earlier and already sensed something was amiss. Now seeing just the two giant crocodiles, they were greatly shocked, and a sense of foreboding rose from the bottom of their hearts.

”What’s going on?”

”Could it be that Yang Xiao and his team were powerful enough to defeat our three giant crocodiles?”

”What should we do?”

After a brief discussion, Qin Lu and the Crocodile Ghost brothers decided to leave swiftly with the remaining two giant crocodiles.

In the unclear situation under the night’s cover, they resolved to prioritize preserving their lives.

After running about ten kilometers, they finally stopped, listening behind them and seemingly hearing no pursuit, allowing their wildly beating hearts to calm down somewhat.

Unfortunately, with the two giant crocodiles being unable to speak, Qin Lu and the others could not learn the specifics of the situation at the time.

The next morning, Qin Fei located Qin Lu using a positioning Jade Token.

”Qin Fei, what on earth happened last night? Why were our giant crocodiles killed?”

Qin Fei’s expression was a bit sorrowful. He said:

”Reporting to the chief steward, the difficulty of matters may have exceeded our estimates.”

”What do you mean?”

”Based on reports from two spies I sent, there’s a team with formidable combat power among Yang Xiao’s forces. Besides Yang Xiao, there’s someone named Xiao He, who also wields a powerful Two-star Divine Weapon.

Additionally, a masked individual attempted a sneak attack on Yang Xiao at midnight yesterday, only to be counter-killed by Yang Xiao.

Moreover, for an unknown reason, six giant wolves emerged from the forest. Coincidentally, the giant wolves tangled with your released double-headed giant crocodiles, giving Yang Xiao and his team a chance to kill two giant wolves and one giant crocodile...”

”Ah?”

Qin Lu, upon hearing Qin Fei’s report, could hardly believe his ears.

Qin Lu had previously accompanied the family head Qin Chuan to Flying Leopard Academy to watch the battle between Yang Xiao and Qin Xiaotian. Though Yang Xiao was fierce, Qin Lu was confident that the three Empire Middle Level giant crocodiles could completely defeat Yang Xiao.

Now, surprisingly, Yang Xiao’s team featured someone wielding a Two-star Divine Weapon, disrupting the plan and altering the power balance.

Also, although Qin Fei did not know the identity of the masked attacker hitting Yang Xiao last night, Qin Lu knew it was Fan Ni, ranked tenth on Flying Leopard Academy’s combat power list.

Upon hearing that Fan Ni was counter-killed by Yang Xiao, Qin Lu gasped.

Fan Ni was the ace card in Qin Lu’s arrangements for this assassination attempt on Yang Xiao, unexpectedly crushed by Yang Xiao so quickly.

After pondering for a moment, Qin Lu said to Qin Fei:

”Continue assigning people to follow Yang Xiao. I urgently have to return to Wentian City to report this to the master. Be careful not to expose your people’s identities.”

”Yes, rest assured. The two spies I sent are only at Empire Level Primary Level, but they possess Ghostly Soul Skills, allowing them to remain invisible and not easily discovered.”

Qin Lu nodded.

Nearby, the Crocodile Ghost spoke:

”Chief steward Qin, should we continue to hunt your enemy?”

”Not for now.”

”What about the commission?”

Qin Lu handed a Black Crystal Card to the Crocodile Ghost,

”Here’s the remaining ten billion Crystal Coins. I always keep my word; when have I ever gone back on it?”

The Crocodile Ghost accepted the Black Crystal Card with a sly grin, saying:

”Thank you, chief steward Qin.”

”No need for thanks. You deserve it. You’ve also lost a giant crocodile. Go back and find a way to get your hands on more powerful Demon Beasts. We may need to reach out to you in the future.”

The Crocodile Ghost pounded his chest,

”Alright, we’ll return to my Martial Uncle. He should be able to tame an Empire Level Advanced Realm Demon Beast.”

...

Qin Lu hurriedly returned to Wentian City, finding Qin Chuan in the study at the Qin Mansion.

”Master!”

Qin Chuan was reading in the study. Seeing the steward return, he immediately set down his book,

”Steward, back so soon? Did things go smoothly? Flying Leopard Academy’s hunting competition has only just started three days, hasn’t it?”

Qin Chuan expected Qin Lu’s return to signify the completion of the task to assassinate Yang Xiao; otherwise, he wouldn’t be back so soon.

Qin Lu wore an embarrassed expression, lowered his head, and said:

”Master, I’m sorry. There’s been an issue.”

”Oh? What issue?”

”We hired a Beast Tamer with three Empire Middle Level Demon Beasts and Flying Leopard Academy’s combat power list tenth-ranked Fan Ni. These forces should have been able to defeat Yang Xiao.

However, last night, when we launched the attack, we faced an unexpected situation. Yang Xiao’s team inexplicably gained two more people of no low Realm, with one wielding a Two-star Divine Weapon.

Thus, our assassination attempt last night failed. Fan Ni was counter-killed by Yang Xiao, and one of the three Demon Beasts was killed.”

”What, such a thing happened?”

Qin Chuan stood up from behind the desk, paced a few steps, and looked at Qin Lu.

”Who are the new two in Yang Xiao’s team?”

”One is named Xiao He, the other Xiao Gang. Their exact backgrounds are unclear, and I’ve instructed Qin Fei to investigate.”

”Xiao He? Xiao Gang?”

Qin Chuan paused, showing a look of surprise.

”Why, does the master recognize them?”

”No need to investigate. I know them both, somewhat familiar.”

Qin Chuan said calmly.

About Xiao He’s true identity, few knew. Qin Chuan didn’t disclose it to the steward.

Qin Chuan never imagined Xiao He would be teaming up with Yang Xiao; it’s simply too coincidental.

The assassination of the Eldest Prince Wanyan He (Xiao He) was personally orchestrated by the Second Prince Wanyan Ying. Even Qin Chuan was unaware of the details.

Qin Lu glanced at the master lost in thought and said:

”Master, what should we do now?”

Qin Chuan took a deep breath and said:

”You don’t need to concern yourself with the assassination of Yang Xiao for now. I have other arrangements.”

”Master?”

”They now hold two Two-star Divine Weapons, and it isn’t feasible for ordinary people to successfully assassinate them. Sending more people over is tantamount to sending them to their deaths. Besides, I don’t want to alarm Xinghai the old man.

Temporarily, assign people to continue monitoring Yang Xiao’s movements. I’ll figure another way to deal with Yang Xiao.”

”Yes, master.”

After thinking briefly, Qin Chuan said:

”Visit the Second Prince Mansion, and tell him I’ll meet him in the usual place. Once the time is set, bring a team of guards to clear the meeting area, following our established protocol, which you know well.”

”Okay.”

...

On a mountain peak outside Wentian City.

Qin Chuan and the Second Prince, Wanyan Ying, met here.

”Greetings, Second Prince.”

”No formalities needed, uncle. You’ve sought me out?”

”Yes, circumstances have shifted. Xiao He is currently teamed up with a student from Flying Leopard Academy for hunting, which might impact your assassination plan.”

The Second Prince listened and laughed:

”The Eldest Prince teaming up with anyone didn’t affect me. I’ve already invited super experts ranked in the top ten from Flying Leopard Academy’s combat power list. Why fear an ordinary student and Xiao He teaming up?”

”Second Prince, you may not know, whom Xiao He teamed up with is none other than the murderer of my son, Yang Xiao.”

”Oh? How coincidental. It seems I can help my uncle avenge this murder.”

”Things aren’t so simple. This Yang Xiao possesses a Two-star Divine Weapon, the Broken Rainbow Sword, which was loaned by your aunt to Xiaotian last time. However, Xiaotian was killed by Yang Xiao, leaving the sword in Yang Xiao’s hands.

You understand the power of the Broken Rainbow Sword more than I do. Sending people to kill Yang Xiao might not succeed, which is uncertain to me.

I hired Fan Ni, ranked tenth on Flying Leopard Academy’s combat power list, to assassinate Yang Xiao. Surprisingly, Fan Ni died by Yang Xiao’s sword last night, so your plans might need some adjustments.”

”Oh? It seems this Yang Xiao has some skills. But don’t worry, aside from those academy experts, I’ve dispatched my manor’s chief instructor, bringing my Two-star Divine Weapon, the Red Sun Sword, over there.

Those three are merely the vanguard, intended to confuse Xiao He’s maneuvers. My manor’s chief instructor is truly my trump card,

Haha...
