Super Gene Hunting Ground

Yang Xiao and Xiao Ling laughed heartily,

”Haha...”

Yang Xiao said:

”Aren’t I just like you all the time? I’m just riding your coattails. Your usual food standard is already the highest in the academy’s canteen.”

”Same? Look at these dishes now: Deep Sea Flying Shark, Nine Heavens Fire Flamingo, Abyss Snow Python, Flying Wing Panda... If it weren’t for you defeating the students from Heavenly Dragon Academy this time, I reckon I’d never get to eat them in my lifetime.”

Elder Ye said while eating heartily.

Xiao Ling laughed and said:

”Elder Ye, it’s not as exaggerated as you say. The dean of Heavenly Dragon Academy and others came for the exchange competition; this lavish feast is meant to entertain the guests. Yang Xiao defeated the opponent today, thus earning Dean Xinghai’s favor, which is why he rewarded him.”

”Hmph, anyhow, Xinghai favored you, his conscience is terribly bad, and he deserves a spanking.”

The old man looked angry, yet he ate quickly, finishing three plates of meat in a blink.

Yang Xiao and Xiao Ling just ate the few dishes in front of them, too lazy to reach for those further away.

Elder Ye laughed:

”Aren’t you eating these few plates?”

”We can’t finish them all; you can have more if you like.”

”Yes, that’s true. Young people shouldn’t eat too much; getting fat isn’t good looking. Now this boy is popular; lots of girls will be chasing after him in the future. If you get fat, you’ll be dumped in no time,”

Yang Xiao: ”...”

Damn, so much food can’t shut your mouth, I’m implicated out of nowhere.

Xiao Ling turned and glanced at Yang Xiao, snorting twice with meaningful intent.

Yang Xiao quickly pleased:

”Don’t listen to Elder Ye’s nonsense, you are the only one in my heart.”

”I just had a couple of good bites, if you want to show affection, do it further away.”

Elder Ye made a retching gesture.

”Haha...”

Yang Xiao and Xiao Ling laughed.

After about half an hour, the three of them basically finished all the food, mostly eaten by Elder Ye.

After eating, he didn’t forget to lick the plates, savoring the taste like a child.

...

Dean Xinghai hosted a banquet at noon for the teachers and students from Heavenly Dragon Academy.

Xinghai was elated and glowing with a happy face.

Long Kui, however, had a grim expression. Facing a table full of delicacies made from rare Emperor-Level Demon Beast ingredients, he only ate a few bites before quickly leaving the table, taking the tutors and students back to the accommodation to rest, preparing for the revival challenge match in the afternoon.

Watching Long Kui’s departing figure, Vice Dean Deng Nan said to Xinghai:

”Boss, do you think Yang Xiao has a chance of winning against Long Jing in the afternoon’s revival match?”

Xinghai didn’t answer, hesitated a bit, and said:

”Come on, let’s go see Yang Xiao.”

The two left the banquet and hurried to the small courtyard behind the library.

Seeing the dean and vice dean coming in, Elder Ye still lay resting on the recliner.

Both Xinghai and Deng Nan respectfully bowed to Elder Ye, calling out:

”Elder Ye!”

Elder Ye replied with a simple ”Hmm”.

The two were used to dealing with Elder Ye and didn’t mind.

Yang Xiao and Xiao Ling quickly greeted them.

Dean Xinghai grabbed Yang Xiao’s hand and happily said:

”Great, great, Yang Xiao, you’ve really made us Flying Leopard Academy proud this time. I’m delighted.”

”It’s all thanks to your excellent guidance, oh, and Elder Ye’s significant help.”

Yang Xiao quickly flattered.

Xinghai laughed aloud and said:

”No need for flattery, we all know how it is. I came to talk to you about the afternoon competition. There’s not much concern about others, but you should be cautious with Long Jing.”

Yang Xiao nodded,

”Yes, I noticed that Long Jing’s combat power is quite high.”

”You don’t understand. She’s not just powerful; from what I’ve gathered, she belongs to the Imperial Royal Family of Great Dragon Empire. Her Heavenly Dragon Swordsmanship is extraordinary, far surpassing ordinary cultivation skills,

but that’s not what worries me most,”

”Oh, what worries you the most?”

”What worries me most is her Beast Soul.”

”?”

Yang Xiao looked at Dean Xinghai.

Xinghai glanced at Elder Ye lying on the recliner, saying:

”Long Jing belongs to the Imperial Royal Family of the Great Dragon Empire; her ability to use Heavenly Dragon Swordsmanship to conjure a dragon shadow proves she must possess a Dragon Soul.”

”Dragon Soul?”

”Yes, not everyone within the Great Dragon King Clan possesses a Dragon Soul. Only about 30% have it, and Dragon Souls are classified into three types: Human Dragon Soul, Earth Dragon Soul, and Heaven Dragon Soul, with Human Dragon Soul being the weakest and Heaven Dragon Soul being the strongest.

Even the Eldest Prince Long Aotian of the current Great Dragon Empire hasn’t manifested a Dragon Soul yet.”

”Is there something special about Dragon Souls?”

Yang Xiao hearing about Dragon Souls for the first time, couldn’t help thinking of Long Xiang encountered on Earth, who was a dragon herself, and how her father and brother were captured by the Great Dragon Empire’s Genetic Evolution laboratory.

Xinghai explained:

”In genetic evolution, the most crucial aspect is not effort or resources, but talent.

What is talent?

Noble bloodline, Beast Soul is the talent,

The Dragon Soul ranks among the top known Beast Souls, capable of suppressing most others, even if your Genetic Evolution Level is slightly higher, she can still use the Dragon Soul to suppress you.

There’s an old saying:

’Once the Dragon Soul emerges, all souls bow!’”

Yang Xiao was taken aback; this was his first time hearing about the suppressive relationships among Beast Souls.

Yang Xiao had skimmed through books in the library containing similar information but never delved deeply as it seemed unimportant.

”So, it’s certain that Long Jing has a Dragon Soul. Do you know which rank her Dragon Soul belongs to?”

Xinghai paused briefly before saying:

”Long Kui dared to bet the Heavenly Dragon Divine Sword with me; Long Jing must be his trump card. If my guess is correct, Long Jing at least has an Earth Dragon Soul. When she used the Heavenly Dragon Sword, she defeated Gong Yu in one strike, proof of her Beast Soul’s immense power.”

”Is there any way to suppress her Dragon Soul?”

Yang Xiao asked.

Dean Xinghai glanced at Yang Xiao, then mischievously winked and looked at Elder Ye lying on the recliner.

Yang Xiao was puzzled,

Damn, what does this mean? Could Elder Ye know the method to suppress Dragon Souls?

Deng Nan also looked towards Elder Ye.

Elder Ye turned over, facing away from the three, muttering:

”Don’t ask me, I don’t know, Dragon Souls aren’t easily suppressed unless you exceed her by a whole realm. By a whole realm, I mean a major level, not a minor one.”

Xinghai glanced at Yang Xiao, respectfully said to Elder Ye:

”Elder Ye, please help Yang Xiao. For over a decade, Flying Leopard Academy has been consistently defeated by Heavenly Dragon Academy; this chance is precious.”

”That’s due to your poor teaching, can’t blame anyone. Even if Yang Xiao wins by luck, does it mean Flying Leopard Academy’s overall strength surpasses Heavenly Dragon Academy?”

Xinghai and Deng Nan both looked embarrassed.

Deng Nan said:

”Elder Ye, we made a bet with Heavenly Dragon Academy this time; it’s regarding the Flying Leopard Thunder Hammer, what if we lose?”

”You’re shameless enough to say it. You two deans led the gambling, causing the whole academy’s teachers and students to follow suit; what kind of cultivation atmosphere is this?”

Xinghai and Deng Nan lowered their heads in embarrassment, but faced Elder Ye respectfully, without refuting.

Elder Ye said again:

”Xinghai, when did you become so cunning? That Flying Leopard Thunder Hammer, without the Thunder and Lightning Technique Secret Manual, is just a useless hammer.

You dared to bet this against their Heavenly Dragon Divine Sword; if Long Kui knew the truth, wouldn’t he be mad enough to curse?”

Xinghai looked completely innocent: ”...”

”Alright, you two go back. Xiao Ling leaves as well, let Yang Xiao rest. He has a tough fight this afternoon. None of you know what Yang Xiao’s Beast Soul is, so how can you assert he isn’t up to par with Dragon Soul? Stop worrying blindly!”

Upon hearing this from Elder Ye, all three of them brightened up, restraining their internal excitement, and said:

”Yes, Elder Ye, we’ll leave immediately,

Yang Xiao, rest well. I’ve posted guards at the entrance, no one will disturb your rest.”

Xiao Ling, understanding the importance, nodded to Yang Xiao and left.
