Super Gene Hunting Ground

Xiao He nodded,

”I think Yang Xiao is right.”

The group found a flat area, and Cui Yuan drew his longsword, casually swung it a few times, and cleared the ground of weeds and shrubs.

The six of them took tents out from their space rings and arranged them in a circle.

Wang Qian and Cui Yuan went to the stream and brought back two buckets of water, while Yang Xiao, Xiao He, and the others chopped down two trees nearby, snapping off the trunks and branches to start a campfire in the center of the camping circle.

They made tea, drank water, and each took out the food they had brought and began eating.

Yang Xiao said:

”I’ll assign the night watch duties: Xiao He and Wang Qian will be one group, Gong Yu and I will be another, and Xiao Gang and Cui Yuan another. Is that alright?”

Xiao Gang was taken aback and said:

”How about I pair with Xiao He?”

”No.”

”Why?”

”You’re Empire Level Advanced, Xiao He is Empire Level Intermediate, and the rest of us are just Primary Level, so we need to pair a strong person with a weaker one for the night watch. That’s the most logical arrangement.”

Xiao Gang said:

”If there’s any danger, you can call us, can’t you?”

Xiao He gave Xiao Gang a look and said:

”Let’s do as Yang Xiao suggests; it’s more appropriate that way.”

Seeing Xiao He say this, Xiao Gang didn’t refute.

In reality, Xiao He was the Eldest Prince of the Flying Leopard Empire, Wanyan He, and Xiao Gang was his personal guard, responsible for Wanyan He’s protection around the clock.

...

Night fell rapidly in the forest; what was only a glimmering light moments ago was now complete darkness.

Hundreds of campfires flared up in the valley, lighting up the entire area.

Suspended in mid-air and at the edges of the valley, Deputy Director Deng Nan, with over a hundred instructors and some students, formed a patrol to keep watch and ensure that demon beasts wouldn’t attack the valley.

For the next month, this place would serve as the base camp for the hunting activity, with stationed instructors and student volunteers guarding it as a return-and-rest site.

A temporary Genetic Store would be set up within three days, providing everyone with temporary supplies.

The sky was still bright, and Yang Xiao and the others were chatting around the campfire.

Xiao He and Wang Qian took the first round of the night watch, and as everyone was still there, they went around the perimeter for a check.

A moment later, the two returned.

Yang Xiao asked:

”Any issues?”

”None, everyone around is just chatting, and some are even drinking; it’s quite lively.”

Wang Qian hesitated for a moment and said:

”Yang Xiao, I saw something strange.”

”What is it?”

”About thirty meters from us, there’s an isolated tent with only one person and no campfire. As we passed by, he glanced at me.”

”Just one person?”

Yang Xiao was momentarily puzzled.

It’s rare for someone to hunt alone; people usually have a few companions at least.

”Where?” Yang Xiao asked.

Wang Qian pointed far away. In the flickering light from surrounding campfires, Yang Xiao could barely make out a solitary tent without lights or a campfire, hidden in the shadows.

Yang Xiao glanced over; it seemed odd, but he couldn’t pinpoint why.

Xiao Gang said:

”He might be one of those lone wolf types who likes to go solo. There are quite a few such people at Flying Leopard Academy. There’s nothing to be alarmed about.”

”Hmm, perhaps. Let’s focus on ourselves. I’m going to rest now.”

With that, Yang Xiao turned and went into his tent.

...

In the distant darkness, inside that lone tent, a young man sat cross-legged, channeling his powerful spiritual power to sense everything around him.

At this moment, even a fallen leaf from a tree was within his divine sense’s surveillance.

This person was named Fan Ni, ranked tenth on the Flying Leopard Academy’s combat power list as a super strength holder.

Before participating in the hunting competition, Fan Ni took on a deal.

Someone approached him.

”Fan Ni, someone outside is offering 2 billion Crystal Coins to hire you to kill a person.”

”Who?”

”A man named Yang Xiao from the Advanced Academy Department; he just broke through to Empire Level Primary.”

”Haha, for a mere Empire Level Primary, someone is offering 2 billion Crystal Coins and coming to me to deal with him? Isn’t that an exaggeration?”

”Not at all. Although Yang Xiao’s Genetic Evolution Level is only Empire Primary, his combat power has reached Empire Intermediate, and moreover, he possesses a Two-star Divine Weapon. So, killing him isn’t something just anyone can do.”

Fan Ni sneered,

”What difference does a Two-star Divine Weapon make? A Divine Weapon is just the icing on the cake. Who would be foolish enough to stand still and let him behead them?”

”So, I want to know, would you take on the 2 billion Crystal Coin offer?”

Fan Ni hesitated for a moment, then asked:

”Does this person have any background?”

”None whatsoever. He’s from a distant planetary colony, now a citizen of the Great Dragon Empire.”

”Alright, in that case, I’ll take this business.”

”Great, as expected of a top ten expert in the Flying Leopard Academy’s combat power list, truly straightforward. Here’s an anonymous, password-free Black Crystal Card containing the 2 billion Crystal Coins,

and this storage Jade Slip records the audio-visual information of Yang Xiao. You can quietly observe him at the academy in the next few days and note his appearance.”

Fan Ni took the Black Crystal Card and the storage Jade Slip and said calmly:

”Cash is paid, so I’ll deal with the problem. Within three days of the hunt, I’ll kill him.”

...

From Fan Ni’s perspective, taking advantage of the chaos in the great hunt to assassinate an Empire Primary student was a piece of cake.

2 billion Crystal Coins is not a small amount; he happened to be short of money recently, so he conveniently took on the job.

Fan Ni had been observing Yang Xiao for days inside the Advanced Academy Department based on the information and had fully recognized him.

After the great hunt began, he had been trailing Yang Xiao, finally camping thirty meters away from him.

Fan Ni wouldn’t kill Yang Xiao here; he was merely following him closely to ensure he didn’t lose track. Once they scattered and entered the dangerous region a hundred kilometers into the Flying Leopard Mountain Range, he planned to find an opportunity to strike.

The Advanced Academy Department at Flying Leopard Academy fostered a culture of covert cultivation.

Once students’ Genetic Evolution Level reached Empire Level Advanced, they could choose to graduate or continue cultivating,

and at this point, some would go to the main peak of the academy for hidden cultivation, delving into the path of Genetic Evolution.

Most peers who entered Flying Leopard Academy alongside Fan Ni had graduated and left, while only a very few stayed to continue cultivating, and rarely interacted with the junior students, who generally didn’t know them.

As a top ten expert of Flying Leopard Academy, Gong Yu, Wang Qian, and Cui Yuan did not know Fan Ni,

nor did Xiao He and Xiao Gang, who had also been at the academy for over a decade.

An uneventful night passed, and early next morning, everyone had breakfast, packed up their tents, and began advancing into the depths of the Flying Leopard Mountain Range.

Yang Xiao took out a map, chose a direction, and set off with Xiao He and the others.

From this point on, all students had to start hunting adventures in teams.

Fan Ni packed up his belongings and continued to follow Yang Xiao and the others from a distance.
